Ruth Rendell (a.k.a. Barbara Vine), best known for her series of detective novels featuring Inspector Wexford, died in London today at the age of 85.

Yes, a wonderful writer. I can't say there was one book I did not enjoy. RIP.

Such sad news. She was one of my favourites.

A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to pick up a beautiful hardbound edition of "Adam and Eve and Pinch Me" in a second hand bookshop for just a couple of dollars. When I got home, I discovered it was autographed - a very unusual "find" in Australia.
