Here's the second version of my original 'in praise of' thread wherein posters can compliment *specific quizzes* that they have recently enjoyed. Please feel free to mention any recent quizzes that you would highly recommend your fellow Quizzyland denizens enjoy.

Today I would like to recommend a quiz by our very own LindaC007 entitled 'Catalhoyuk Exploring The Lost City'. Fascinating and inciteful stuff about a subject about which not many people are privy. Please feel free to check it out at the link below:

I just played a very enjoyable game by Justawful called "15 Minutes of Fame." For anyone who pays attention to the daily news, this quiz is a fun trip through headline stories of recent years--people who have appeared in a big story but then are usually never heard from again. It would be analogous to the music world's "one-hit wonders." Since this is a sunglasses quiz, it is easy to get to: click on the "Stats" link beside the "People" category to see the "Top Ranked Games in People" (as of today, it's number 21).

I really enjoyed 'General Household Science' by GeniusBoy which is quiz number 48400. He really made a fabulous effort with the interesting facts and I for one certainly learned something.

Brilliant!

We have another new and excellent quizmaker within our midst...Mothergoose. She has created two very imaginative new quizzes. The first is entitled 'Medicine and Mythology', it deals with medical terms whose names are derived from figures of Greek myth. The second is entitled 'Basic Forensic Science', a must play for all of you Quincy buffs out there. Both are enjoyable and well-crafted...certainly worth a look!

You may find the quizzes at the link below:

I just took the quiz "How to do Cryptic Crosswords" by crisw and really enjoyed it.

I've always seen these crosswords in puzzle magazines and never knew how to start approaching them. This is a quiz where the questions themselves give lessons in the various tricks and traps of these puzzles, and finding the answers is like an enjoyable practice session afterwards.

The quiz is #32508 and is at

I loved 'Pub Grub' by Islingtonian - it's a new quiz on page one (stiil) and it's No. 77235. This is one of the cleverest, funniest quizzes I've ever taken.

I have been privileged to see, um er, Islington's rising career, and the walkman on the bus quizzes were so clever that when the pub grub came to my attention in the editing room with a slightly different title, I said, "this it good!"
Try the Walkman on the Bus!

Heather, the quiz 'The Walkman On The Bus' was very nicely done. I found that quiz purely by accident one day, while looking at all the names on the 'creating most quizzes' list.

When I came across Islingtonian's name and notice that quiz. I couldn't resist taking it. That is about one of the coolest music quizzes I have taken in a long time.

Now after reading this thread, I'm going to take more of his quizzes.

This thread was a very nice idea, as it brings to the attention rising quiz makers, and the efforts that they put forth.

I'd like to add a vote to crisw's cryptic crossword quiz. I've always wondered how those worked and have always been too lazy to look it up. Great work [Smile]

I just wanted to put a plug in for thejazzkickazz's "10 most frequently asked questions" # 77841. It is as usual a very well written quiz and provides lots of interesting tidbits. http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?type=justone&id=77841&origin=newest

I would just like to give praise to robynraymer, who has many quizzes in the Fractured Words category (in Brain Teasers). They are really well done, and lots of fun, too. [Smile] [Big Grin] [Smile]

By golly Cris has done it again, please check out her quiz commemorating the life of the recently deceased Stephen Jay Gould. His life should really be celebrated extensively, but unfortunately his passing won't get nearly the attention that would be given your average pop music star!

You can enjoy the quiz.... Here!

I really enjoyed Lefois's quiz on Kaspar Hauser. It's interesting and Lefois can write really well. Also, Magpie's done it again with "Oh no, it's a Canadian Quiz Show!". It's hilarious and non-Canadians, you should check it out. You won't believe it. Jazzkickazz's 'Ten most frequently asked questions' was simply a great idea. There are some fine quizzes out there!

I would just like to add my praises to Dobrov and makebeleaffan for Jazz's 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions. It was so much fun to play!

You can imagine here is a universal editor. Over and over and over....he sees the same questions. So what to do about it??? Well, Jazz made a quiz--But he doesn't just tell/ask us the 10--he adds a "Jazz question" of his own to each.

You'll have a wonderful time--learn something, too. It's great fun. Jazz really has a cool sense of humor. [Smile]

thanks, Dobrov--I'll go check out lefois's new quiz. [Smile] It doesn't surprise me she can really write--she is one of the Shining Stars of the Chain Games.

Thanks! I'll have you know I scored abysmally on the Jazz's "10 Most" Quiz! But it was fun, and I learned LOTS! [Big Grin]

Dobrov you were right about lefois's Kaspar Hauser quiz. She really does tell the story of this strange and fascinating young man. I really did enjoy it. [Smile]

Another quizmaker whose quizzes I always enjoy is miaow. There are many fine quizzes on by miaow in several different categories that I know everyone will enjoy. Today, I would like to praise a couple of miaow's Agatha Christie's quizzes.

If you think you know all about Dame Agatha's little Belgium detective, Hercule Poirot, try quiz #76777 "Hercule Poirot Trivia"....but you will need all your "little grey cells" because miaow covers Poirot's great crime solving career.

If your Christie mysteries of choice are Miss Marple, then try quiz #71814 "Miss Marple Quiz". Miaow covers the crime-solving career of St. Mary's Mead seemingly harmless elderly spinister in the same fun way.

Sorry about not adding the links, but anyone knowing my history of typos will forgive me, I hope. Both quizzes are found under Literature, Mystery and Detective Fiction, sub-category is Agatha Christie.

[Smile]

Two more quizzes worthy of much praise...

The first one is a biographical quiz on Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the very first female artists to 'make it big'. This lovely quiz, by MissScarlet...can be viewed... here!

The second quiz, by Namastheg, is about scientists and mathematicians...and is entitled, oddly enough 'Famous Scientists and Mathematicians'. You can try this quiz by clicking this... Link!

Have fun!

Lefois, Jazz, Crisw and others have excellent quizzes online.

I have been privileged to take Jazz's 'Pinochle' quizzes. While I play single handed pinochle and scored fairly well, I was more interested in his 'Double Pinochle' quiz (I wanted to learn something new). I took the quiz and failed, but I learned a little bit about the game. Jazz you are a very prolific quiz writer...excellent as usual

I have taken Lefois' 'Kit Kat Kwiz' and I must say that it is excellent....Kudos to you Lefois on a job that is extremely well done!

Cris, your 'Plagiarism' quiz is excellent also. I have taken it, and just wanted to say that you did a remarkable job!

DakotaNorth has a quiz that has been online for quite sometime, that I have just played entitled 'The 'Amistad' Quiz. That one is also excellent!

Keep up the great work...Kudos to all!

Sevorak's "Religious References in FF7" is a bit of a niche quiz, but it has a lot of interesting information. Taking what appear to be normal plot twists in a video game, he showed the larger picture and how an many ways they were based off of other mythologies (Norse in particular, but others as well). There were a lot of neat connections!
