I had the same issue of 403 forbidden error today for a few hours. Luckily, my team member and editor stedman helped me to resolve this issue so that I could enjoy the world of trivia once more.

I got an SOS from a team member:


"I am not able to access Fun trivia website from my home computer. I'm getting a message saying "403 Forbidden Error was encountered while trying to use an error document to handle the request. You don't have permission to access / on this server."

If necessary I can provide the IP address. She has had this problem before - what could cause this error?

The spam checker locked her out for excessively loading pages. It detected over 400 pages from her computer in a very short period of time.

For some reason her computer loaded the Global Challenge homepage 200+ times in a row, the braintwist page 50 times or so, etc.

Something is either hitting or forcing her browser "reload" button, or there is a problem in her browser / an issue with a plugin she is using.

I recommend she install a new web browser and give that a shot.

A while ago, when my own computer was stricken with malware, I used my husbands computers to access FT. As usual, I never logged out. Now my husband, who is only and occasional player, cannot get onto FT, because on his computer I cannot logout anymore - I tried the sequence which pops up in the policy warnings but I don't get out of that loop:
Click here to log in again - If that doesn't work and you are still logged in, first click here, then click here and THEN finally click the top link.

I am still logged on FT on his computer, even though I could really logout from my computer and then login again. Can somebody help or the me what I should do?

I don't entirely understand what problem you are having. You can be "logged in" to more than one computer at the same time. So, the fact that you are logged in on your husband's computer should not affect anything else.

What happens when you try to log in from any computer? What message do you get when you enter your login name and password?

The problem really is that my husband cannot get on to FT anymore, as I cannot logout from his computer - or his iPad either.

Have you tried logging out, and then shutting down, and rebooting the device before trying to log in again under his name?

Go to "clear cookies" in the browser settings. That will make the browser forget funtrivia.

Hey, now I cannot get to the site. I'm getting to the forums fine, but going to the main page I keep getting errors like "The site is unavailable". Or, the page only partially loads, such as just getting text, no images, and the text is in my default font without all the site formatting, and the links take me to same the error ("The site is unavailable").

UPDATE: Whatever was going on, it seems to have corrected itself.

Nothing unusual in server logs. Appears to be a connectivity issue local to you.

Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd add a new post (on the same matter) to this existing thread. I received this email earlier from carolmitch, asking if I'd request assistance for her:

Fun Trivia won't let me in. I get this message....
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
It worked fine when I was playing earlier today.

One of my team, Pam1239, is having difficulties. She can't access the forum.

When she plays quizzes, she's getting the following:

"The link www.funtrivia.com page isn’t working

link www.funtrivia.com didn’t send any data."

Can you help please?

Please explain or point me to this person? Must be some problem with their machine.
