There were some lovely pics last month but can we do better? Let's see... smile

I suppose someone should start off the month so here is the entrance to Mangonui Harbour seen from the motel.

A tiny Holly Blue butterfly, the smallest of the butterflies that visit my garden. They look so pretty flying around the plants like stray bits of confetti blowing in the wind.

Great photo Chavs. I get those in the garden but I've never managed to find one still enough for long enough to get a photo

Lovely pics to start the month - but if I find out that butterfly is related to the caterpillar munching its way through every plant in my garden I reserve the moderator's right to shoot it! whistle

And welcome Tori. smile Is this the first time you've posted in the photo forum? I do hope you'll post some more, it would be great to have more images from that side of the pond. Although that's a pretty big pond right there! grin

Many of you may know that Canada has two seasons - winter and construction. Guess which one it is now?

Friendly Bay/Oamaru Harbour on a beautiful very late autumn day (May 31), east coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

Queue Gardens - where you queue to collect mail which needs to be signed for etc. I will take photos, if I remember, throughout the summer to show the progress.

This is the work of one person and he pays for it himself.

An unusual Thai restaurant in Wentworth. I wonder what it was originally.

Queue Gardens looking from the post office door, it is what the man who does this can see as he does his normal work.

Does it actually say "Queue Gardens" on the card you get when you need to go to the sorting office or is the sign just part of the one-man effort? It's funny anyway. smile

Now, if only I could get Northampton sorting office to do something similar - going there is a depressing experience to say the least. For the past few years we've had to go to the parcels office to collect anything, on an industrial estate not known for its scenery. But that's because the letters office we used to go to in another part of town was itself so depressing that a postman burned it down. I kid you not!

Howie, that is impressive, it looks like a beautiful stained glass window, very colourful!

Tori, the colours in your picture of Lake Superior are fantastic! & I love the composition.

I have an arum lily that hadn't flowered for a couple of years and I was going to dig it up, divide it and see if that would rejuvenate it, but lo and behold, this year it is back in flower and looking gorgeous

One of the famous (in the South Island anyway) Oamaru (lime)stone buildings in.....you guessed it....Oamaru. Many of the buildings in the historic area of the town and other places around the South Island are built with this or combined with Timaru bluestone basalt. Very popular after the Central Otago goldrush of the 1860's.

My roses in the front garden are bowed down with the sheer weight of bloom on them this year, and they smell gorgeous

No idea why that photo vanished, I hadn't touched anything. Back now.
