Never mind - there's always the Rugby World Cup to win soon.. oh who am I kidding? Maybe the Aussies could win a macrame competition or win the Chelsea Flower Show. Hey.. we almost did win at Chelsea - watch out, the Aussie gardeners are coming! wink

Will they even bother playing the 5th Ashes Test, since England has defeated Australia after four?

Yeah they still have to play the 5th Ashes Test even though Australia has lost the series

We'll play for pride if nothing else. A win by the Aussies would see the series end up at 3-2 which is a lot better than 4-1. A bit better, anyway. Any Aussies feel like doing a rain dance for England? It's bound to rain in England sooner or later wink

Plus the Oval (the next venue) won't want to refund all the ticket money. Bad enough that Trent Bridge and the English Cricket Board will have to pay back three days worth - even though they did play a bit today it wasn't for long enough so the punters will get a refund.

Wait, maybe that's the Aussie tactic - come over here, lose quickly, and bankrupt the cricket grounds that were relying on the catering money.

Do they swap venues each year? If I recall, last year's Ashes series was in Australia, correct?

If it gets rained out, then wouldn't that make it 3-1?

The Ashes are held every two years - the timing isn't precise because the schedule takes account of other cricket events plus things like the Olympics. But the Series do alternate between England and Australia so the next lot of Ashes Tests will be downunder.

I looked on the Ashes Wikipedia page, and y'all are even up now...32-32-5 (counting this year's Ashes series for a win for the UK).

Yes, it would, but better a washout than a 4-1 whitewash wink
