This year's FT-PL comp will be the 13th edition of this head-to-head tipping comp. For those of us who are unfamiliar with this comp, it's a round-robin league system where everybody plays everybody else twice (aka home and away) .. everyone picks the 10 weekly games played in the FA Premier League. It's a head-to-head contest where the winner receives 3 pts and it's one point each for a draw .. aka if you pick 8/10 and your opponent picks 6/10, you win and collect the 3 pts. Whoever has the most pts at the end of the season is the winner! This year's comp runs for 9 months and a bit from Saturday 8th August 2015 to Sunday 15th May 2016. Unlike the last few years, we will tip all 38 FAPL rounds played (which allows us to increase the number of runners from 16 to 20). In prior years we ran with a fields of 16 or 18 and omitted the rounds that straddled New Year's Eve, and the weekends with the FA Cup quarter-finals and semi-finals. The field is limited to a maximum of 20 runners and, unlike other comps in here, where you may simply post your picks in the first tipping thread *or* sign-in, you must sign in, here in this thread, to enter this comp, so that the weekly head-to-head fixtures can be put together. If less than 20 sign-up, that's the field. In the unlikely event that more than 20 apply, preference will be given to the tipsters who sign-in first *and* have previously played in a season-long FT tipping comp, as follows: [ A ] all of the 16 tipsters who played in last year's comp. [ B ] players who've participated in an entire season long tipping comp. [ C ] anyone who has participated in two or more FT tipping comps. [ D ] everybody else including first-timers. To allow time for the weekly schedule of who's-playing-who to be, firstly, put together and, secondly, posted in the tipping threads, the deadline for signing-up is midnight FT time on Friday 31st July .. there's a grace period of 2 or 3 hours, but please don't push your luck past that. Creating the weekly round-robin schedule does take time. Please note that, unlike prior years, we can have an odd number of participants ... there will be a "bye" each week. The bye will be scored as the average of all other players ignoring fractions e.g. if you're drawn "to play" the bye and the average of all other players is 5¾ (i.e. excluding your picks) then the bye will score 5/10. The defending titleholder is N-Bomb, who won it from Dizart .. illiniman14 won bronze on a countback (there was a triple dead-heat for third). As the defending title-holder hasn't signed in and PaulE is away on holidays, this sign-in thread will be left open for a few more days .. we will skip week one of the FA Premier League and start the FT-PL comp a week later.

If both of them sign-in we will have 17 runners and a bye = 34 rounds. This means we skip four weeks of the FA Premier League, which will be week one, the FA Cup quarter-finals, plus two others. If neither sign-in we will have 30 rounds (same as last year); and we'll skip week one, the FA Cup quarter-finals, plus six others.

For Week 1 of the competition (Week 2 of the Premier League): Aston Villa - Man United is actually being played on Friday instead of the usual Saturday.
