Leicester City were the 24th team to be crowned champions of England (aka their first-ever title). The
23rd team was Nottingham Forest almost 40 years ago. This win by Leicester was a breath of fresh air.
They're the 5th team to achieve that feat (first-ever title) in the last 50 odd years, and the 2nd team
(the other is Blackburn Rovers) outside the Big Four to win the FAPL since it began in season 1992-93,
when the First Division left the Football League
en masse to form the FAPL. There have been 117 ttiles
awarded since the first one some 128 years ago in 1889 (season 1888-89):

o Huddersfield Town were the first to win three back-to-back titles.
o Preston North End and Huddersfield Town are the only (former) champions of England who have never played in the FAPL.
o Ipswich Town were champions in their first-ever season in the First Division.
o after they won their first-ever title, Manchester City were relegated in
1938 as defending champions; the only champions to achieve this feat .. and they scored more goals than any other team, and finished the season with a +ve GD (another two unique feats for a relegated team).
o Aston Villa were a foundation member of the FAPL in 1992. Their relegation to the FLC leaves just six ever-present FAPL clubs: Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur (aka the Big Four plus Everton & Spurs).
