Is there any update on how she is?

I spoke to her husband a couple of weeks ago, Creedy. There are carers coming in each day to tend to her needs and she's more or less confined to bed. He tried to hand the phone to her so we could chat but it wasn't a good day so we left it. From what I gather, it's a slow but steady decline. We miss her a lot.

Thank you all for your lovely words about our Chris. I spoke to her husband this morning - not good news I'm afraid. She passed away at home on Hallowe'en. He's having a bit of a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that she's gone. They were together 39 years.

I asked about making a donation in her memory. He suggested the Dog's Trust or St. Luke's Hospice whose nurses (actually they're angels...) were with her to see her through at the end. Here are the links for both of those in case any of you might be interested in making a donation in her memory.

Chris sat on Basildon city council and they'll be making a memorial garden to honour her contribution to the city. What a lovely, lovely thing - she would be so delighted to know that. Here's the link to their notice of her passing.

RIP dear Chris. It was a pleasure to know you. We'll miss you.

Chris was an invaluable member in the Author Lounge for more than half a decade, and her involvement in some of the more adventurous things that I've been a part of around here-- without any hesitance-- makes this a hard one to hear for me. Horribly unfortunate; we'll all miss her. frown

Thank you all for sharing your lovely sentiments about Chris. My team-mates and I have shed more than a few tears reading them and also in these past few weeks of knowing she would not return to us. Chris was one of a kind. She was a good, strong team leader and always fair. She often regaled us with stories of her time on Basildon city council and of other issues in her community. She wouldn't stand for any guff but only ever had her community's best interests at heart. She was a tough old bird and we all liked that about her very much.

I was lucky enough to get to meet her as we spent a day together at the British Museum in 2013 with two of our other team-mates, invinoveritas and Jennifer5. It was a great day which I'll always treasure. I'm only sorry that we weren't able to meet up again this past summer - it was the start of her illness and I feel very sorry about that.

I'm planning to send her husband, Pete, a note this week and am going to print out these beautiful posts to include in the package. He - and Susie, her beloved German Shepherd - are feeling the loss very keenly and I thought it would comfort him to know how well other people thought of her here.

Thanks again for your kind words for her, to Pete and to us, her grieving team-mates.
Barbara

When my husband died I found the tributes from his online friends, most of whom I had never met, to be as comforting and real to me as those from people we knew in "real" life. Even more so, in a way, as I hadn't really realized before how much that aspect of his life was valued.

My husband ran a website for cars and he received an outpouring of love as well, both before and after he passed. I also found this to be of great comfort.

I did not know Christina, but I cried reading all of these posts and could relate to so much of it. My deepest of sympathies for her family and friends.
