Why not in all of Australia on the same day?
Each year I hate the introduction of DST - the alleged energy saving is consumed by all the time readjusting each and every clock.

Why not in all of Australia on the same day? I'm not sure about Western Australia, but Queensland and the Northern Territory don't have daylight saving.

I'm fairly sure WA had a vote about daylight savings time and voted against it. At least, that's what I heard on the radio the other day. You would be correct, Tizzabelle. Why not in all of Australia on the same day? Jan, in the US, two states do not adhere to DST: Arizona and Hawaii. Indiana decided in 2005 or 2006 to observe DST, as they had not before. Each year I hate the introduction of DST - the alleged energy saving is consumed by all the time readjusting each and every clock. That goes for me as well. The UK and Europe fall back three weeks from today (October 25), and the USA and Canada fall back a week later (November 1).

This reminds me of two recent events: 1) The US Muslim student who was arrested for bringing a bomb to school and it was just a clock he claimed to have made himself (some have said it was just an old Radio Shack kit clock that he took apart and put back together); 2) The picture on facebook of the mullah superimposed over a nuclear ballistic missile in its silo and saying, "It's a clock!".
Which brings us to the Nuclear proliferation clock which must be near midnight by now. Can we enact a law to turn that one back an hour?

I'm fairly sure WA had a vote about daylight savings time and voted against it. At least, that's what I heard on the radio the other day. So WA is now three hours behind the east coast, apart from QLD who don't care what time it is because the Cowboys won the NRL premiership! Yep, there are still some people over here in the west that think the chickens won't lay, the cows won't produce milk, and the curtains will fade with the extra hour of sunlight. I had a friend who voted against it in a referendum because she believed the shops wouldn't be open as long as usual. I find it amazing that people think we (as humans) can actually control the sun and make it shine for longer. Some just don't 'get' that we are only moving our clocks. I love daylight saving, but I'm on my own in my household

It doesn't get light here til about 7:30 .. madness! If you live in Pecos, Texas, Copago, because we spring forward in early March, the sun doesn't rise there until after 8am! They'd love to see the sun at 7:30am, which they don't get to do until the 11th of April. edit to add: this is March 2015's calendar...look at March 8's sunrise: 8:14am. another edit: You could live in Eastport, Maine...the sun in December is down before 4pm. link here

Thank God the majority of people in West Australia had the sense to vote against it. Our arrogant State premier foisted it on us anyway and told us to try it and see how we like it.....Oh Yeah!.....nearly cost him his position at the next election. We are back on normal time and that is the way I hope it stays. Here in Australia it is simply for the convenience of the business world because when the Eastern States are on it there is a 3 hour difference in time and therefore less trading time between States. Fact: There are 24 time zones on this planet and we have to live in one of them, so suck it up and get on with it and leave the clocks alone. Mommakat I am one of those who voted FOR daylight savings, I absolutely love it! It's great to still have the sun shining for hours after I get home from work and I like to sleep in to at least 6am, which is almost impossible with the sun starting to shine before 5am some mornings in summer

The best way to not need DST is to correct the Earth's tilt. I'm sure the space agencies of the world can come up with something.

I love daylight saving, but I'm on my own in my household Princess doesn't recognize any time changes that we silly humans do. Her breakfast is served at 10:30am and dinner at 5:30pm during the winter. When the clocks move forward an hour, breakfast is at 11:30am and dinner at 6:30pm. She is tortoiseshell cat full of tortie 'tude. She is Princess. The world adheres to her time schedule not the other way around.

That's typical of any cat. Cats rule the world, and humans are only here to please their feline owners.

We live at the western end of the time zone so it is a bigger deal for us than those at the eastern side of it... which is coincidentally where the Premier lives ...

I would just say here that you should come for the picteresque areas of Pakistan, they are quite beautiful Miss Copago. I do know of our extremist issues but we are taking care of it as we speak. Hard to believe we have better net than Australia!

One day when I am old and grey, Mask, my plan is to travel and watch a Test Match in every test playing nation. Hopefully Pakistan is playing Tests by then and I will indeed come and visit if my plan works! As far as internet.. I live in a remote area and we have two choices. We can have internet that is pretty good but that costs a lot and we don't get much of it (I think the highest plan I can get on that one is 16gb/month/$110 ... or we can have pretty crappy internet, via satellite, that only one device can be connected to most times, that is only $50 a month but we get 40gb.
