We have ourselves a very tight podium right now...and with five weeks to go, there is no clear winner...as gtho4 is one behind our leaders. It is still a seven horse race for three placings.
Only one game was picked by everyone (the Golden State win), and the fewest to get one correct was four, hence the reason almost all of us got nine or more...wwe84 and ozzz2002 went for some upsets and didn't come out.

Out of nowhere, illiniman14 leaps over everyone, both by taking a weekly win (along with ElfTwinkle) and picking up a bonus point (along with six others).
Poor George95 went 1/10 on the games that were not picked by everyone (five games were picked by the lot of us); he and dg_dave missed the Atlanta win and gtho4 missed the Thunder win.
Only the bottom three kept their place from last week...shows how close this comp really is! This podium is still too close to call...the top five can all still get gold, and the top seven can still make the podium.

Several bonus points go out this week, as three games were picked by two. And just like two weeks ago's debacle, paper_aero went 1/10 on games not picked by virtually everyone (LeoDaVinci picked the Raptors over the Spurs (???), who have won all 39 games at home this season - can they beat Golden State at home once more?)
It is now a five horse race for the entire podium...Howie72 and dg_dave are behind the top five by six and five, respectively, to paper_aero in fifth, which mathematically keeps them off, even with dg_dave's comp-leading seventh weekly win. The top five are all one point behind one another.

The NBA season has come to a close. After a rare postponement mid-season, we had a week with fourteen games. That week was one of the worst of the season as a whole...one of only three weeks we missed 50% as a group.
As for our comp, ElfTwinkle came on late in the season and earns herself the gold medal. N-Bomb snags silver with his stellar picks, and relegates gtho4 to the bronze (didn't N-Bomb earn silver in NHL too?  )
Some of our season highlights, then we'll get to the NBA season highlights...
- Ozzz2002 takes the most bonus points with 23, wwe84 takes second with 14, and LeoDaVinci rounds out the top three with 11, also were the only three to take double digits all season (and LDV went default a few times to boot!)
- dg_dave takes the most weekly wins with eight, but ends up in sixth place, and never was in the top spot. ElfTwinkle takes second with six, and paper_aero and N-Bomb take third with five each.
- Most Spoons went to ozzz2002 with ten, George95 takes five for himself, and three others tie with four in third.
- N-Bomb held the top position (solo or joint) for sixteen weeks, which will be emblazoned in the FT Hall of Fame books.
- Winner of the largest lead at any point in the season goes to our very own N-Bomb, who had a five point lead for four weeks running. Paper_aero joined him for the first of those four weeks. Ozzz2002 was the only other tipper with at least a three point lead (weeks 1 and 2).
- Outside of Sypher, who showed up for only one week, the title of Mr. Consistency goes to gtho4, whose hi-lo was first through fourth.
- Will check into this, but for certain, illiniman14's streak of no Spoons will continue into next year, as he was the only tipper to go Spoonless all season, like Dizart did in NHL.
- Eight weeks saw near miss bonus points, so next year's eligibility will remain 13.
As for the NBA season:
- The Golden State Warriors (not tipped for their final game) are the first team in NBA history to lose less than 10 games (remember the 1995-96 Bulls?). They are also the first team to win 34 away (those same Bulls went 33-8 away and 39-2 at home). They also obliterated the best start to a season at 24-0, and unfortunately for Luke Walton, he will show as an 0-0 coach over the first 43 games he coached (as Kerr was head coach, but away for injury, all those wins went to his record and not Walton's as interim coach).
- Steph Curry obliterates his old 3s record of 286 with a stunning 402! Not only is he the first to hit 300, he blew through the next century mark too! He averaged nearly five per game. This may not be a great comparison, but our cricket aficionados may know: how many quadruple centuries have been scored by one player in a Test match?
- The Philadelphia 76ers were the worst team of the season, but did not tie their team record from 1972-73, where they won only nine games.
- The San Antonio Spurs go 40-1 at home, losing only to the Golden State Warriors in their 40th home game of the season...they tied the Celtics from 1985-86. They also won 67 games, which usually will gain the top seed throughout the playoffs, but not this year! Those 67 wins breaks their former best record of 63-19. Gregg Popovich has always been consistent...which is a characteristic of a great leader.
- Will the Warriors win sixteen in the playoffs, and hush the doubters...or will San Antonio win their fifth in an even-numbered year? That question will be answered in June.
- As this was Kobe Bryant's final game (also untipped by us, but probably would have been missed by many lol), he goes out with a bang and scores 60 in his final game, crushing the old record by an outgoing player in their final game.
