This seems to have wandered away from what Trader_Kate said. Her comment was that her (winning) eleven letter word did not qualify for the Crystal Pyramid mini game.

Am I the only one chuckling over the player named debbitts, winning with "credit"?

Why is there an ethnic slur in the Crystal Ball?

This hour's Crystal Ball oddity:

"This hour's secret word begins with the letters be
All guesses must be between 4 and 12 characters."

It didn't seem to like my 6 letter word (in either of the two times I tried it).

Hmmm that happens to me sometimes and I figured out usually it is from a space mistakenly typed on the front of the word. If you type a stray letter it stands out and unless you are rushing you will usually catch it before sending. With just a space, it isn't easy to see just looking at it straight on, particularly on a small screen device. The system reads that space as a character though and thus rejects your entry for bad letter combo (possibly also length if you happen to be sending a 12 letter word).
If you tried it twice that seems less likely (unless autofill was kind enough to save and recycle it for you) but if you ever hit that again, check for a stray space

I don't think that's the case, but if it happens again I'll double check. I don't use autofill because it gets too weird sometimes. smile

Hmmm...not quite as controversial as some past words targeted for deletion but it is tied to a controversial subject...so I thought I should ask..

Does "klavern" want to be removed from the Crystal lexicon?

I threw it in more or less as a protest guess because I was out of unguessed ideas for "kl"...and was a bit surprised when it came up green.

I have to admit that I did not know what the word meant and had to ask Mr Google, but whilst it perhaps not the most pleasant word, I see no reason for it to be removed.

That is fine. I am not up in arms about it. I was just surprised to see it and thought I would ask.

I am going to try and win today with "sunshine", "harmony", or something like that to cleanse the palate wink

I agree with ozzz2002. I didn't know what it meant either and had to look it up. I don't think it warrants removal, though.

Given one of the news stories of November 13th, I think that was an entirely appropriate word to show up.

cry

I was also trying to comment on the fact that it came up this week. When all of the other related horrors are happening. Sigh.

Terry is time traveling into the past to fix the issue before it comes up. Rest assured he will patch up our timeline to prevent a rift from occurring and life will continue on as normal shortly.

nono Marty McFly, please let it be. I have had phenomenal luck in these hours right after such hiccup events.

I think I have won on something like 3 of the last 4 of them. It almost makes me sad they are so rare wink

I just guessed my 25th word (YAY!!), but the badge has not been awarded and the challenge page says it has not been completed. I know it says that the badge is awarded immediately upon completion, so...?

debbitts

If you click on the winners list you'll see at what times the badge is awarded. Immediately doesn't always mean 'this instant' on FT. It seems to be awarded at 3.34 and 9.34, a.m. and p.m., so check again in an hour and a half or so.

And congratulations on your 25 wins. Those words can be very sneaky.

I know this has been discussed before, but I do try regularly and can never get a 12 letter word to be accepted .. I do check that I haven't inadvertently included an initial space or a spurious letter. In the last hour's CB I tried to input 'appendicitis' only to be told words must be between 4 and 12 letters, so had to make do with 'appendix' instead. The winning word was 'appendicitis'! Frustrating.
