A "New" theme for a New Year - if it's new, photograph it before it gets scratched, old, or past it.

The NEW masthead date off the latest edition of the local rag (The Palm Beach Post). Done at x10 magnification with my Digital Microscope and then inverted because the scope lens causes the image to come out upside down. Happy New Year all you fellow photogs and to those who appreciate the great visions captured by FT members.

Looks like I still have more photos of the fireworks display over Caroline Bay to bring in the new year....

Though it happens every year, it was late this year and so a bit of a shock to the system. New snow still looks pretty, though.

I needed new boots in case it got slippery out there so I ordered a pair online. Of course, no sooner had I clicked "buy" than I saw another pair I liked so I clicked "buy" again safe in the knowledge that I could send back the pair I liked least - or both if I felt like it.

Naturally I liked both pairs, they both fit, and now... I have two new pairs of boots! Sprayed with anti-wet, anti-snow, anti-salt, stain repellent stuff and all ready to go. I'm rather hoping that now I'm prepared for the worst it won't snow again this winter!

I also have new boots to display, and as you can see, we already have the snow! I was happy to have the first pair I tried on, in the first store I went to, be the ones that exactly fit my requirements! They keep my feet toasty warm too

Yours look like proper Canadian snowboots! I actually have a pair but there's rarely a need for them in this part of England. It snowed here at the weekend but disappeared the next day, which is the sort of snow I like - pretty enough to look at through the window while stirring a mug of hot chocolate, then gone before I have to go out.

That's the way I like snow nowadays too. Unfortunately, that isn't what we are likely to get
