Hakka people, Ren? The last people with frilled shades on their hats I saw were Hakka women in Hong Kong busily avoiding having their photos taken, at least from the front - capturing their faces meant capturing the spirit and they didn't want that. Ideal for this forum - if only more people would appear with their faces hidden we could post a lot more images!

Yes, they are still about. Not many of the black hatted Hakka ladies digging the roads now though. The language is still heard around in the villages and at CNY of course the clothes are more often seen, and the food available. I don't think the council ladies are Hakka, just practical .

It has been a while since I last posted a photo of a bird so here is a black-billed seagull by the Washdyke Lagoon. I know you have been eager for more bird photos....lol

A few years ago a friend took me to see the border area of Sha Tau Kok, which you cannot enter without a permit. Before the Brits left in 1997 it straddled the border, the main street was half in China and half in HK. An interesting place worth googling. This is a local boat and the hills are HK.

Bold colours would look cool and I was thinking of getting some plasma cut too, Flopsy. decisions decisions!
