Actor Alan Rickman has sadly passed away. Compared to David Bowie, he was also 69 and also succumbed to cancer. Two great British talents lost this week.

I was shocked and saddened to read this news. I loved him in 'Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves'.

I walked into the office this morning and with a quizzical look on my face said to a co-worker and fellow movie buff "why a spoon cousin?!"

without missing a beat he said "because it's dull you twit, and it'll hurt more!"

We laughed...then kinda hung our heads and moved on.

The first movie I saw him in was Sense and Sensibility - you need to add that one to your marathon.

I am beyond sad now. Two in one week and both so beloved.

I have seen him in many movies and always liked him but when I saw "Snow Cake" I was stunned. Such depth in his performance! I strongly recommend it for a weekend marathon/tribute. May he rest in peace with the other great ones.

Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Alan Rickman who was one of my favourite actors. Have several of his films in my video collection including Snow Cake which is well worth watching. A tremendous talent with that wonderful voice will be missed.

There can be no other Sherrif of Nottingham or Colonel Brandon. I could have listened to Alan Rickman recite a dictionary.

There is a cute page on facebook making the rounds. It shows Men in Black's Will and Tommy Lee. Will says, "Did you hear Alan Rickman passed away?" Tommy Lee replies, "No he didn't. He just went home to see a David Bowie concert tonight."
