I'm sitting on at least 30" myself. It may be Monday before I can get out as well. It's almost over though...still snowing where I am.

Looks like you've moved since I last took notice, Dave! I was wondering how normal that was for Texas :p

The dogs are all outside dogs, Mira. I'd be willing to guess they wouldn't cope very long!! And if it makes you feel any better it's really humid and not very comfortable at all. smirk

Gosh. I hope everyone is OK?
I woke to a 1 degree C and my helper who had just returned from the Philippines at 30 degrees C had a shock too. Gnawra my dog was quite puzzled and we had to give her another duvet. Everyone here is somewhat comatose. It is never like this in Hong Kong!

It's only been 4½ months since I moved from Texas, Copago. Thirty inches of snow in Texas is not only abnormal, it would definitely set a record! The snow finally ended about 10:30pm Eastern time.

For one couple, the snow didn't stop them. If it were me, I doubt I'd be as calm!

Snow stopped late last night and we got the driveway done today. Streets won't even start being cleared until tomorrow - and even then, last time it took the bobcat driver an entire day to clear the snow, and we didn't have anywhere near this much. No way are we starting the sidewalks... maybe if we're bored, but the snow is so deep we can't get to them easily.

Most of the streets near me are plowed now, but still slippery as it is below freezing again. Our neighbor had a CAT bulldozer and took out the snow from our driveway.

29.3 inches by me. The town sent around a bobcat machine, a larger bobcat, and a plow to get at least one lane through my neighborhood. Now I need to dig out the end of my driveway to meet what they cleared out... My arms already hurt from the past two days! Just need someone to watch the baby so I can go out since my husband has to work from home.

On the upside, I have done some major organizing in the house - cleaned the front hallway closet and all my utensil drawers in the kitchen. I don't have the heart to tackle my daughter's playroom, though! I try to pretend it doesn't exist!

According to our Met Office, that storm is now winging its way over the Atlantic to us and should arrive tomorrow. The big difference is that we are not expecting as much as a single snowflake from it, instead it will deluge us with torrential rain. All those poor people who have already had their homes flooded twice since Christmas and all the farmers who have had most of their stock drowned, look like getting still more misery heaped on them.

Living on a Coastal Plain has it's advantages and thankfully we are 15 miles from the nearest river, so only localised flooding expected.

I ended up with just under 30" myself. At least I-95 was good to travel on going to work this morning! Since it was 7°F (-14°C) this morning, there were definitely icy places to contend with.

Well while you are moaning about the snow....LOL...think of us in 109F temperatures today and more of the same forecast for the next three days at least.

I'll gladly give you the 4°F (-16°C) reading we are forecasted for Saturday night, Mommakat. smile I dealt with enough 109°F (43°C) days in Texas that I know exactly how you feel.

Dave/Mommakat..............Now that is what I would consider "from frying pan into fire" eek

Which is worse freeze at 4F or fry at 109F? laugh

Tell you what, if you both ask nicely, I'll send you some of our current 45F........now that's an offer you can't refuse! grin

The only "down side", is you get Force 8 - 10 gales in places and heavy rain as well..........but........nothing is perfect. wink

I don't know which bit of Lancashire you are in C30, hopefully not too near the coast. We have had a couple of 'not nice days' with similar winds to you, F8-F10, add to that high tides causing flooding, 11+ metre waves and the English Channel unfit for the boats to bring our food and the ferries not running, oh and yesterday the mail/newspaper 'plane didn't come either. Many trees down and some coastal roads closed for several hours at high tide, and for an island 9 miles by 5 miles it caused plenty of disruption.

I can only imagine the havoc, Sue! We're getting hammered with the same storm here. The winds are unbelieveable, I definitely do not enjoy driving my wee little Fiat Panda over some the high-and-exposed bridges hereabouts! Took a spin by the coast at the weekend, the sea was magnificent but the poor gulls were desperately clinging on to the protected side of the citadel, trying to shelter from the wind a bit.

I stepped out onto the beach at one stage, intending to stroll the couple of 100 metres of it, but got pelted in the face with a blast of wind-driven sand and shingle. My poor face is all swollen and red from it still. I turned back double-quick and admired it all from afar (& behind the windscreen of my parked car).

Sue..............about half a mile from coast as crow flies.........the good news though is that the nearest river is 15-20 miles from us! So far though, not been any reports of flooding due to sea.

Santana.........same type of car, different locality! Excellent little car IMO..........ok so you are not going to rival "Formula 1 Boy Racers", but given what we need a car for, the little Fiat Panda is ideal. I'd rate it 10/10. We call it our "Tardis Car", seems bigger on inside than out.....amazing how much shopping the little boot will hold!

I've had it for about 9 years now, and it has never let me down. It's great for nipping into town with, easy to park and manœuvre, just a bit small in the back for my strapping teenage boys to be comfortable in. As ninety percent of the time I am in it on my own, that's not a big problem.

As a town runabout/commuter car, can't be bettered IMO. smile

A few times a year we go on a longer trip and it copes well enough and is perfectly happy at the legal maximum speed limit (70mph), though the lack of acceleration when trying to get out of the way of speeding articulated truck is noticeable with motorway travel. However 80% of the time we use it for the purpose it was designed - town runabout. It is a 2008 basic model and we have had it 5 years.
