It was a round of comebacks this week and began well for the Sydney Roosters as they dominated early and jumped out to a 12-0 lead, by the final hooter Canterbury had done just enough to narrlowly edge it and move into the top 4 for the first time since round 2. Melbourne travelled to Brisbane and inflicted the largest losing margin on the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium as they destroyed them by 42 points in the perfect Storm. It was locked up at 10 all in Auckland between the Warriors and the visiting Gold Coast but a late scoring flurry saw the home team gain an unassailable lead. Penrith looked in control midway through the first half in the battle of the big cats when leading Wests 14-2 before the Tigers took control with 32 unanswered points. It was only 2 late Panthers tries that made the scoreline more respectable. Cronulla's unbeaten home streak in 2016 looked in danger of ending as Parramatta raced out to an 18-0 lead before the Sharks took a big bite into the race for the minor premiership with 28 unanswered points, the Eels scored again in the 73rd minute to make it interesting before Cronulla had the final say and set a club record of 12 successive wins. The biggest comeback of the round was Canberra Raiders coming from 22-0 down at home to Newcastle to take a 25-24 lead in the 79th minutes. Newcastle tied it up at 25 in the 80th minute before the Raiders won in golden point extra time. South Sydney took their home game against North Queensland to Cairns but it did no good as the Cowboys outclassed them and kept them scoreless. On the back of an avalanche of St George errors and poor options, Manly ran amok and at the final hooter had claimed their first win since round 7 in style with a 30 point demolition.Copago and LeoDaVinci were running on default fuel this week.Davjack missed the first match with late tips.We had another very good tipping round this week as we went 77/103 or a strike rate of 74.75% with the Canberra win being tipped by al of us. The Warriors win was only missed by N-Bomb and the Cronulla victory missed by only Sypher. The hardest match to tip was the Tigers victory over the Panthers which saw 5 of us earn a point for it.Everyone went above 50% with Dizart, gtho4, George95 and ElfTwinkle taking the weekly win with 7/8. Davjack makes it 4 spoons in a row as he went 5/7 along with wwe84, ASA, Sypher and N-Bomb who all went 5/8. It is the first spoon for N-Bomb.The 4 point lead at the top is maintained by paper_aero with illinman shaking off N-Bomb and wwe84 to hold second place by himself. There is no change at the bottom as Davjack received a spoon and LeoDaVinci defaulted.

Another shortened round began with Parramatta knowing their appeal against the salary cap breach penalties failed so they officially lost their 12 competition points. On the field it was the Eels scoring the final 3 tries to snatch the victory from the Sydney Roosters in an entertaining 80 minutes of rugby league. Canterbury Bulldogs follwed Parramatta's lead as they also scored the final 3 tries to overcome a spirited Wests Tigers. Penrith could not take advantage of Cronulla missing 5 players to the State of Origin as the Sharks ran out comfortable winners to stretch their winning streak to 13. The Sharks showed they were not scared of cats as neither the black cat that invaded the field nor the 17 panthers in opposition could stop them. Canberra Raiders could take advantage of an opposition side missing 5 players to the State of Origin as they overcame North Queensland in Canberra to move to within a point of the top 4. The final State of Origin match in Sydney had it all as a 79th minute length of the field try secured the victory for New South Wales and hence avoiding another whitewash. Before this there were numerous skirmishes, a controversial New South Wales try, a lop-sided penalty count in favour of the home team and two sin-binnings. New South Wales had enough possession to win a whole series but looked devoid of ideas in attack, Queensland hung tough in defense and looked to have won it late before the even later dramatic finish.Copago and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.We had an even better tipping round this week than last week as we went 50/65 or a strike rate of 76.92% with the Canterbury win being tipped by all of us. The hardest match to tip was the Sharks victory away to the Panthers which still saw 8 of us earn a point for it. The most surprising game was the State of Origin where 11 of us picked New South Wales despite them being 2-0 down and having lost 10 of the last 11 series though ozzz2002 continued his support for Queensland.Perfect rounds of 5/5 went to wwe84 and ElfTwinkle this week along with a bonus point each. Davjack went default so did not get a 5th spoon in 5 weeks but 3/5 was enough for LeoDaVinci, Sypher, ozzz2002 and N-Bomb to all take home a spoon.The lead at the top decreases to 3 points as wwe84 moves into second with his perfect round while drops to 3rd and N-Bomb falls off the podium. There is no change at the bottom as the bottom 5 all earned a spoon or went default.

St George lost 2 key players during the week to injury and it proved too much for them as they were dominated by visiting Gold Coast, the Titans leaping over the Dragons into the top 8. Manly took their home game against the Warriors to Perth and it looked like the entire Indian Ocean was dumped on the players during the 80 minutes. In the end the Warriors showed how poor they are in golden point extra time as a Manly field goal in the 84th minute sealed the match in their favour. South Sydney's horror season continued as it was Brisbane's turn to outclass them in heading back home with a 20 point victory. Everything pointed to a big win for Melbourne over Newcastle but the Knights did not see that memo, they gave the Storm a scare but fell just short of upsetting them. Penrith were 18-6 down at half time to Parramatta but kept the Eels scoreless in the second half while running in 3 converted tries to snatch the match. Cronulla plucked the Roosters to take their winning streak to 14 games but did it tough, a last minute run away try when the Rossters were trying to force the game into extra time made the scoreline a little more flattering.Copago, LeoDaVinci and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.Another very good tipping round this week as we went 53/72 or a strike rate of 73.61% though no game was tipped by everyone, the closest being the Melbourne and Cronulla wins where it was only ASA's home team policy that kept them from being perfect. The hardest match to tip was the Titans victory away to the Dragons which still saw 5 of us earning a point for it.Another week and another perfect round as ElfTwinkle made it back-to-back perfect rounds and 3 weekly wins in a row with 6/6 and a bonus point thrown in. One spoon was handed out to ASA as he went 2/6.The top 4 remain the same though paper-aero's lead has decreased to 1 point over wwe84 with illiniman14 a further point back. Three of the bottom 4 went default and as a result ozzz2002 is now above all 3 in the standings, he has his eye on Sypher now.

Canterbury travelled to Townsville to play North Queensland but left the defensive door wide open as the Cowboys ran riot, the only concern in the 36-0 win was their star player going off after 45 minutes with a hamstring injury while the Bulldogs headed back south with their tails between their legs. It was much better for Penrith when they travelled to Queensland as they outclassed Brisbane who continue their struggles. The Warriors scored 3 converted tries in the final 10 minutes to temporarily stun the Canberra faithful and draw level at full time. The inability to finish off moves when dominating was once again the downfall for the Warriors as they went down in golden point extra time for the 3rd time in their last 4 games. Gold Coast finished strongly to extinguish Parramatta's slim play-off hopes and cement their top 8 spot for another week. Melbourne kept the pressure on league leaders Cronulla as they overpowered the Sydney Roosters despite conceding the first and last tries. As expected Cronulla demolished Newcastle again, the only positives for the Knights was they scored a try and the losing margin was 32 points compared to the 62 points earlier in the season. St George were once again lacklustre, this time in going down at home to the Wests Tigers. Manly's late season charge continued as they held off a Rabbitohs side having a horror season.Copago and LeoDaVinci were running on default fuel this week.We are settling into a good run of tipping form as we went 72/102 this week for a strike rate of 70.58%. Two games were tipped by everyone, being the Melbourne and Cronulla wins while no one thought Brisbane would lose at home to Penrith.Weekly winners this round are paper_aero and N-Bomb with a wonderful 7/8. One spoon was handed out to Sypher who went 3/8.The top 4 remain the same though illiniman14 climbs level with wwe84 in 2nd place while paper_aero extends his lead back to 3 points. Davjack made a welcome return to tipping as he went 6/8 and climbed over an absent LeoDaVinci at the bottom.

Desperate defence saw the Canterbury Bulldogs overcome St George to consolidate a play-off spot while handing the Dragons a 4th loss in a row. North Queensland were going for a record home winning streak but Melbourne had other ideas as they were too good for the Cowboys to take a 16-8 lead into half-time, no points were scored in the second half to end the Cowboys home winning streak at 11. Wests Tigers needed the victory more than Parramatta to keep their play-off hopes alive and that was enough to see them emerge victorious. Souths will be wondering when the season will end as they slumped to an 8th straight loss, this time at home to a rampant Canberra side that recorded their biggest ever win over the Rabbitohs and in front of the Souths home fans too. Questions will be asked over Brisbane's chances of consecutive grand final appearances as they went down to the Sydney Roosters which snapped the home team's 6 game losing streak. Newcastle were once again woeful as they went down to a resurgent Manly, leaving the Sea Eagles just one win outside the top 8. Cronulla were looking to extend their winning streak to 16 games when they travelled to the Gold Coast and were looking good at half-time when leading 12-0, the Titans quickly turned that around with 3 converted tries only for the Sharks to level it up again 10 minutes from the end. Into golden point extra time it went but no one could break the deadlock in the additional 10 minutes to give us just the second draw of the season. Late Penrith tries saw their match against the Warriors go into extra time, a position the Warrios have been in for 4 of the last 5 matches and the 5th time during the season. This time the result was different as a golden try edged it for the home team Warriors.Copago, LeoDaVinci, ASA and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.illiniman14 managed to tip twice this week and thankfully there were identical tips.Another good tipping week as we went 60/88 this week for a strike rate of 68.18%, everyone getting at least 50%. Two games were tipped by everyone, being the Canberra and Manly wins while not surprisingly, no one picked the draw between Gold Coast and Cronulla.We had 6 weekly winners this round with 6/8, being wwe84, paper_aero, ozzz2002 (his first of the season), Howie72, N-Bomb & ElfTwinkle. One spoon was handed out to illiniman14 who went 4/8, it is his first of the season leaving just paper_aero spoonless.paper_aero maintains his 3 point lead over wwe84 but the spoon to illiniman14 sees him overtaken by N-Bomb for 3rd place. Wild Wollongong weather put paid to any thrill-a-minute attacking play between St George and Brisbane but it was the Broncos who coped better to eke out a narrow victory and get themselves back on track. It was even closer in Parramatta as the visting Manly side dominated much of the match but could not find their way through the Eels defence, Parramatta stealing it late with a 78th minute penalty goal. Newcastle were looking to avoid a club record 14th consecutive defeat but it was not to be as they went down at home to the Canterbury Bulldogs, leaving them with just 1 win and 1 draw all season. Penrith's 20 point win over the Sydney Roosters propelled them back into the top 8 and significantly helped their points for and against differential. Canberra travelled to Cronulla with their coach hoping to just get within a few tries of the top of the table Sharks but that did not quite happen, they dominated in running out 30-14 victors and ending the Sharks 16 match unbeaten run, showing they will be a force to reckon with in the play-offs. South Sydney played their best match for a long time but it was not enough to snap their losing streak as they went down at Melbourne by a golden point field goal. A tough 80 minutes from Wests was needed as they upset North Queensland at home, only sealing the result at the end when James Tedesco beat almost the entire Cowboys team to score a valuable try. The Warriors won the battle of 2 teams trying to make the play-offs as they beat the Titans in front of the biggest Gold Coast crowd in 7 years but the war is not over. The reason for the huge crowd was the return of Jarryd Hayne after recent failed attempts in the NFL and Fijian rugby 7's team.Copago, LeoDaVinci, ASA and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.N-Bomb and George95 missed the first match due to late tips.It was an average tipping week as we went 50/94 for a strike rate of 53.19%. Two games were tipped by everyone, being the Penrith and Melbourne wins while the hardest to tip was Wests victory over North Queensland which saw only ASA and his home team policy picking this one.Howie72 was the sole weekly winner with 7/8. Four spoons were handed out to ozzz2002, gtho4, N-Bomb and George95 who went 3/8 or 3/7. The spoonless streak this season continues for paper_aero.paper_aero maintains his 3 point lead over wwe84 but the illiniman14 and ElfTwinkle both jump over N-Bomb into a tie for 3rd with ElfTwinkle currently holding the tie-break advantage. It is ElfTwinkle's highest position all season while N-Bomb drops to his lowest though it is very close between 2nd to 6th. No changes as the bottom as the last 3 all went default. The "everyone on different point totals" did not continue this week.

Brisbane Broncos got their top four aspirations back on track when they overwhelmed the visiting Parramatta Eels on the back of a hattrick of tries from Corey Oates. A late golden point extra time try saw Canterbury Bulldogs emerge victorious over Manly to keep them inside the top 4 and effectively end the Sea Eagle's late charge towards the play-offs. Cronulla's 16 game unbeaten streak was ended last week and this week they made it back-to-back losses after letting a half-time lead slip at St George. Newcastle were in with a shout at half time when level with Penrith at 6-6 but by full time there was just one team in it as the Panthers ran in 36 unanswered points to leave the Knights losing streak at 15. Canberra once again showed their are genuine title contenders when they overcame Melbourne in a thrilling match in Canberra, in doing so they became just the second team in 30 years to beat the league leaders in consecutive weeks after beating Cronulla last round. Sydney Roosters turned last week's loss to Penrith around to upset North Queensland, giving them wins over both 2015 grand finallists in the last 3 games after defeating Brisbane in round 21. A last minute field goal saw Gold Coast edge West Tigers and boost their play-off chances considerably. South Sydney ended their losing streak in style with a comprehensive display at the Warriors, leaving the home team's play-off hopes in tatters.Copago, LeoDaVinci, ASA and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.Sypher missed the first match due to late tips.We had a poor tipping week with just 47/88 for a strike rate of 47.12% despite being perfect for both the Canterbury and Penrith wins. Brisbane's defence pounded Canterbury into submission as they forced a number of Bulldog errors under the onslaught, the Broncos late season slump looks to be over with the 10 point win. North Queensland did it easy at home to the Warriors in recording a big win, the Warriors now need to win their last 2 matches and hope the Titans lose theirs to make the play-offs. Gold Coast travelled to Newcastle and as expected, inflicted a 16th consecutive loss on the hapless Knights. It was just as bad for Wests Tigers as their defence went missing in their heavy loss to Penrith, all but extinguishing their play-off hopes and securing the Panthers play-off spot. Cronulla's end-of-season slump continued with a narrow loss to South Sydney, their third loss in a row. Five second half tries saw Canberra overturn an 18-4 deficit at half time nonto a 28-18 win and keep their impressive momentum leading into the play-offs. The rampant Roosters officially extinguished the Dragon's fire as they thumped them by 36 points, showing what could have been if not for crucial injuries during the season. Melbourne moved a step closer to the minor premiership with a determined win at Manly.Copago, LeoDaVinci, ASA and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.We had an excellent tipping week as we went 72/88 for a strike rate of 81.81%, helped immensely by three perfect games - being the Gold Coast, Penrith and Canberra victories. The hardest game to tip was the Rabbitohs victory over the Sharks which only saw gtho4 and Howie72 picking this.We had another perfect round this week with Howie72 going 8/8 and earning a bonus point much to the frustration of 7 others who all went 7/8.The remaining 3 received a spoon with 5/8 - being Sypher, ozzz2002 and ElfTwinkle, the competition leading 13th spoon for Sypher.paper_aero maintains his 1 point lead over wwe84 with 2 rounds to go though wwe84 currently holds a narrow tie-break advantage. Howie72 moves into a podium spot with his perfect round but it is still very close among the top 6. No changes at the bottom as the last 3 all went default.

North Queensland jumped over Canterbury into 4th place after overcoming their Bulldog hosts, sealing it with a try 3 minutes from full time and giving them the box seat for a second play-off life due to their huge advantage in points for and against differential. Parramatta farewelled Pirtek Stadium (which will be undergoing a 3-year development) in style with a convincing win over St George. South Sydney inflicted a 17th consecutive loss on Newcastle who look in serious danger of going through the entire season with just one victory. Canberra outscored Manly 8 tries to 6 in a high scoring match despite a mountain of errors and injuries. Cronulla won their first match in over a month when they finished strongly with 4 second half tries to beat the Sydney Roosters. Brisbane ambushed Melbourne at home to move equal with the Cowboys and Bulldogs on points, the Storm now face a winner-takes-all match against the Sharks for the minor premiership in the last round. Penrith cemented a play-off spot with a field goal 3 minutes from full time to defeat Gold Coast in a game of two halves, the Titans coming back from a 14-0 half-time deficit to tie it up with 10 minutes left before the Matt Moylan heroics. Wests scored 3 tries in the final 9 minutes to keep their play-off hopes alive and end the aspirations of the Warriors.Copago, ASA and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.We had an average tipping week as we went 48/95 for a strike rate of 50.52%. We all tipped Souths to beat Newcastle but no one saw the Melbourne home loss to Brisbane happening and only ozzz2002 gave Wests Tigers a chance of beating the Warriors away.Howie72 went back to back with solo weekly wins with 6/8 to keep his late season momentum going. Five spoons were awarded in the penultimate round with LeoDaVinci (welcomed back), Sypher (the 14th in 25 rounds), Dizart, gtho4 and ElfTwinkle all going 3/8.The Fun Trivia tipping competition will go down to wire in the final week with paper_aero maintaining a 1 point lead, now over Howie72 who has leapfrogeed wwe84 into second, wwe84 drops to 1 point behind Howie72 and in turn has a 1 point lead over N-Bomb. No changes at the bottom as LeoDaVinci earned a spoon on his return while the two above him went default again.

Brisbane were not at their best but were still good enough for the visiting Roosters to give them a chance of a top 4 finish depending on other results. Another lacklustre performance by the Canterbury Bulldogs in being outclassed by South Sydney and must cast doubts over their ability to progress in the first round of play-offs. North Queensland needed to win to cement 4th place and a double life for the play-offs, Gold Coast needed to win to cement a play-off spot. It was the Cowboys that came out on top to leave the Titans hoping for a West Tigers loss to progress. It was not to be for Newcastle as they came from 22-10 down at half time to draw level with St George, only to lose in the 80th minute to a controversial penalty, they now head into the 2017 season on an 18 game losing streak. Penrith were ruthless in demolishing Manly by 30 points to head in to the play-offs with momentum while the Sea Eagles have an extended off-season. Melbourne made no race of it in the second half of the battle for the minor premiership, turning a narrow half-time lead over Cronulla into a comfortable winning margin. Wests needed to beat Canberra at home to make the play-offs but 80 minutes and a 42 point thrashing saw Gold Coast take the last spot and the season end for the Tigers. Another disappointing season for the Warriors came to an end with another home loss, this time to Parramatta, in the end it was not even close,Sypher, LeoDaVinci, Copago, ASA and Davjack were running on default fuel this week.We finished the season well with 56/80 for a strike rate of 70%, no one got below 50%. We all tipped Penrith to beat Manly while the hardest matches to tip were the Souths and Parramatta victories which saw just 3 correct tips for each match.N-Bomb ended the season in style, being the solo weekly winner with 7/8. On the other hand ElfTwinkle earned the sole spoon to make it back-to-back spoons to ende the season.How did it all end for us?. The same score of 6/8 for the top 2 saw paper-aero win the gold medal (after winning silver last year) with a one point buffer over Howie72. N-Bomb's weekly win saw him leapfrog wwe84 to earn the bronze medal (after winning gold last year). For the second year in a row, wwe84 was overtaken in the final round to finish 4th. At the bottom it was the 3 most regular defaulters - LeoDaVinci, Davjack and Copago. The end of the season awards are as follows:
