I was listening to a podcast today ("Freakonomics" if anyone is interested) about cursive handwriting and the future of handwriting in general.
They had reasons both for and against .. they even talked about one school that had put cursive writing in the art department crazy

How important do you think handwriting is going to be in the future?

Sadly, it seems it will be a lost art. An email or an e-card isn't the same as a hand written letter or a card with a personal message.
If schools stop teaching cursive writing are kids going to be taught how to sign their names?

If they don't teach it then how will they manage to read it?

Handwriting used to be the domain of the upper class élite or the religious. Looks like it could once again become something for the élite. It's a funny old world!

Fine motor skills, such as hand/eye control, visual motor skills, and visual skills are key to learning in early years and onward if these are not gained. If a child struggles with these, like as not he struggles with other subjects too.Fluid and legible handwriting skills need hard work and lots of prctice. If constant practice isnt working then there may be and probably are other challenges.Yes, technology can help but the skills needed for handwriting are needed in other areas.- . They will be needed with reading, math, science and learning in general. in fact they are the keys to learning in general. Also if technology breaks down, there will be no standby method of communication, except verbal.Handwriting is an integral component in learning and has been linked to success in school.
Cutting out the teaching of handwriting will therefore be fatal.

Someone forgot to tell the last three or four generations of doctors that handwriting is essential to success.

In the Bible, will 'handwriting on the wall' need to be changed to 'Tweet on the wall'?

Edit Reason: Poor handwriting
