Fine motor skills, such as hand/eye control, visual motor skills, and visual skills are key to learning in early years and onward if these are not gained. If a child struggles with these, like as not he struggles with other subjects too.Fluid and legible handwriting skills need hard work and lots of prctice. If constant practice isnt working then there may be and probably are other challenges.Yes, technology can help but the skills needed for handwriting are needed in other areas.- . They will be needed with reading, math, science and learning in general. in fact they are the keys to learning in general. Also if technology breaks down, there will be no standby method of communication, except verbal.Handwriting is an integral component in learning and has been linked to success in school.
Cutting out the teaching of handwriting will therefore be fatal.
