What is the highest odometer anyone has had? For those of you who use metric, you can use the same numbers metrically.

My car's odometer elapsed the 200,000 mile mark this evening. Anyone else break that number?

The poll is your current odometer...
Odometer

100,000 to 200,000 - 7 (39%)

>500,000 - 0 (0%)

My Toyota Camry reached 252,000 and I sold it to the neighbor who fixed it up for a young family member and I still see it parked out front running like a charm! It's been three years since I sold it so it may be nearing the three hundred mark.

My Civic had to have a rebuilt engine so it may not count but it's at 250 now.

I'm not looking at engines per se, just the odometer, but the Camry would only count to the 252,000 mark for you in my poll. My parent's former car had 288,764 before they had to sell it...that's the next mark for me. Their Camry and my Corolla are the only two we have ever had that have broken the 200,000 mark (granted, mine is just a hair over though...lol).

That's low for a 2005 model, but as your island is only 42 square miles (?), that's not too bad.

45 square miles and I bought it after my OHS and didn't really work much after so no longer needed to commute. The shops are only a mile and a half from home and I rarely go to town, perhaps on average through the year about once a week, a round trip of 15 miles.

My 2010 HiLux is at about 160,000 km which is just about 100,000 miles. Jack reckons we should update it but it's not costing us any money so I figure we may as well keep it for a bit longer.

Our property is about three times the size of your island, Sue (132 square miles) crazy

My Ford Explorer had 420,000 km which is about 260,000 miles. I probably could have babied another 30,000 or so out of it, but it would have been costly.

So you would cover the English Channel to France from Jersey, how nice to be able to drive across for some lunch instead of catching a boat. smile

I sold my Proton when it had done about 140,000 miles and it was falling apart. My Perodua Kenari was about eight years old when I bought it and because it belonged to an old man had done 1900 miles before he died. I'm just about to cross 50,000 since I do long photo trips most weekends but it's still not much now it's nearly 13 years old.

My 1996 Toyota Tacoma has 512,000 miles on it. Still the original engine. It might not be pretty anymore but hasn't let me down yet! All those 500 mile round trips to see my daughter added up over 20 years :-)

I drive a LOT. I bought my 2012 Elantra in 2013 it had exactly 25,000 on it then.

Before the month is out I'll be at 215k on it.

That's part of the problem of living 60+ miles away from your office, and travelling a lot for work.

It is you lot's fault, you have just cost me money! Getting me thinking about cars again, I took delivery of a 2016 Peugeot 208 less than a week ago so at the moment I am still getting used to the feel of it, I still haven't worked out the various bits and bobs though.

Your eleven year old car with less than 30k should have been fine though, Sue. confused confused confused confused

And I thought my 45 mile one way trip was bad...got the oil changed on June 9, and was at 202,323, yet five days later, I've put 550 more on it! It won't quite get to 204,000 before going to my high school reunion, but will definitely break 203,000.

Wow...I sure do drive a lot...was without the car for two weeks (hit a deer in it at 212,921 miles - was afraid it would be a total loss, especially having 200k+), and have put almost 15,000 on it since the original post. By the time I go to work on Friday, mine will cross the 215,000 mile mark (currently at 214,775 and work tomorrow, then will go about 50 miles one way on Thursday to see my dad).

I recently bought a 2016 Toyota Rav4. I didn't want the car payment, but my 2010 Chevy Malibu's transmission went out and the mechanic said it would be $4,000 to fix! Not to mention it needs other miscellaneous repairs that would be a couple hundred dollars more. I decided that putting a down payment on a newer car would be better since my dad is a mechanic and can fix the Malibu for MUCH cheaper when he comes to visit! The Malibu has 107,000 miles on it, so no where near the amount of miles as some of the cars mentioned here!

That Toyota will easily get you 200k+. Most US-made cars I've dealt with have gone kaput not much over 100k.

I definitely hope it lasts that long! My husband has a 1999 Silverado that has over 200,000 on it. It had about 100,000 on it when he got it. We had to replace the transmission a few years back, as well as some other things, but it's still going.
