I finally achieved my 'Licence to Shoot' this morning and promptly set about my first photo quiz. During the day I noticed something with the quiz template that I'd like some clarification over; either there's an issue OR I've messed something up!

First of all I set up my template in the normal way; I went in and added my introduction, question texts, correct answers, incorrect answers and a little reminder to myself about images in the I.I. field... And then saved as usual.

Then I popped into the upload/manage images template and uploaded some pictures using the Morguefile, Flicker and Wiki sites as recommended and finally saved those as well. After giving the quiz some thought over the next few hours, I decided to remove the pictures that I had uploaded and provide all pictures that I have, or will have, taken myself (that seems much, much easier!).

However on returning to the quiz template I appear to have the original selection of pictures displayed in the template just to the right of the answer fields, although on checking the upload/manage pictures template my new selections are displayed. Is this normal and to be expected? Or, as I suspect, in my eagerness to crack on I have inadvertantly missed something or broken it? frown

If I remember correctly, your new pictures are in place, but you need to refresh the page (or something) to remove the ghosts of the original pix.

The ghosts are a result of caching issues; the images will fix themselves when the site does its daily maintenance.

Ah, it was the "or something".

Yeah this is an image caching issue, either on the server or in your browser. To test if it's your browser, simply clear your web browser cache / temporary internet files and reload the page. I think that it would show you the correct images then.

It's browser-related, a simple hard reload of the page (SHIFT or CTRL + Reload depending on browser) will fix it.

The underlying issue is that the file name of the image is the same, so the browser has no clue it needs to re-request it from the server.

If it's any consolation, sisterseagull, many of us have been caught out by this issue in our early ventures into writing photo quizzes.
