We need to to call in instigators, 'cause there's something in the air : the FLC is having an abnormally low number of draws. Over the last three seasons the average number of draws in the FLC has been around 28% +/- (aka more than ¼ of all games have ended in a draw):

The abnormally low number of draws is over .. 60% of the games played ended in a draw, which knocked the stuffing out of most of us (it was just 8.3% for each of the previous three rounds). There were two weekly winners and five wooden spoons (three of those five collected their first spoon for the season).
wwe84 collected 7 spoons over the last 10 weeks (the last three were back-to-back). This week he's one of the weekly winners!
Between us we averaged a strike rate of just 26.6% .. and earnt ourselves yet another entry in the FLC Record Book, as one of the lowest-ever on record (see post below this one). Last week was at the other end; one of the highest on record (ditto three wks ago).
N-Bomb was one of the three who collected their first spoon but retains his position at the top of the pile. The first three are now separated by just one point .. and from there it's 8 pts back to paper_aero in 4th place and another 6 pts to PaulE in 5th place.
QPR beat Wolves away to end their streak of 7 straight losses. Wigan held the high-flying Derby to a draw away, to end their streak of 5 straight losses. Huddersfield were held to a draw at home by lowly Blackburn, which ended their streak of 4 straight wins.

One draw per round is back again after a one round hiatus, when there were 6 of 'em. We've now had 4 of 5 rounds with just 8.3% of games ending in a draw.
dg_dave scores the weekly win with 6/12 .. he was the only player who was able to equal the default score! The low number of draws sees ElfTwinkle collect this week's wooden spoon.
N-Bomb had his Weet-Bix this morning. He scored 5/12 and three of them were solo picks for three bonus pts, thank you very much. He extends his lead over fellow-kiwi Howie72 to 4 pts, gtho4 slips back by another 2 pts .. and the 1 point spread between the first three is no more. It's now 6 pts. From there the 8 pt margin back to paper_aero in 4th place is unchanged.
Derby Co were beaten by Norwich, which ended their undefeated streak at 11 games. Lowly placed Blackburn beat the high-flying Newcastle in a boilover, to end their win-less streak at 6 games. BHA extend their undefeated run to 17 games.

Yet another round with just the one draw and we've now had 5 of 6 rounds with just 8.3% draws. Our strike rate remained below 30% for the third straight round.
Two games were picked by no one and just two games reached double digits for correct picks.
His daily vegemite on toast has proved fruitful .. ozzz2002 is this round's winner with 6/12 .. and two of them were solo picks! He also scored a bonus for the solo weekly win to become the first into the 20s with bonus pts. On the other hand 11 of us are still in single digits!

N-Bomb retains his 5 pt lead out front. The first three have now put 9 pts between themselves and the peloton. For the previous three weeks it was steady at 8 pts. This is starting to become a three-horse race.

QPR were held to a draw, ending their run of three straight wins. Leeds lost away to Barnsley, which ended their undefeated run at 11 games. Forest beat Bristol City, to end their win-less streak of 8 games .. and extend Bristol's to 8 games.
Consecutive wins: streak of two! Newcastle and Wigan.
Consecutive losses: Bristol City (8), Burton Albion (3).
Undefeated runs: all four games: PNE, Cardiff, QPR, Norwich.
Win-less streaks: Bristol City (8), Birmingham (6).
The next round is Sat 28 Jan, which is the same day as the 4th Round of the FA Cup. This never happened in the good old days, as both the FLC and the FAPL, not just the FAPL, had zero games scheduled when the 4th Round was played. Please note that one game has been brought forward to Wed 25 Jan.

As was the case last year, R28 has been abandoned : Sat 28 Jan. The 12 games were scheduled on the same day as Round 4 of the FA Cup; and only 4 of them were played. One was b/f to Wed 25th and the rest will be played throughout February & March, with the last one on Tue 14th March. This never happened in the good old days, as both the FLC and the FAPL, not just the FAPL, had zero games scheduled when the 4th Round was played.
The five games that were played will be used to plug holes when any games are postponed in future rounds, to keep each one at 12 games e.g. the Round 5 and Round 6 of the FA Cup, plus the semis if any FLC teams make it that far.
R29 on Tue 31st Jan was dragged out over a week (past the R30 games which were played over the weekend), as the last game wasn't played until yesterday, Tue 7th Feb. Howie72 scored the weekly win, solo, but was only able to shave the deficit behind
N-Bomb by one point to 4 points (he now has more weekly wins than anyone else) .. gtho4 in 3rd place slipped back by 2 points.
wwe84 collected this week's wooden spoon. It's his 12th spoon for the season and cements his lead in the wooden spoon race. Next best is 5 spoons.

N-Bomb makes it 27 consecutive weeks out front. For the fourth straight week there are no changes behind him all the way down to 7th place.
Two games were picked by everyone and one game was picked by no-one .. wwe84 took the weekly win solo with 7/12, his 5th of the season. N-Bomb and Howie72 are the only players with more weekly wins; and no-one has more spoons than wwe84!
We had five wooden spoons this week. Sypher collected his first of the season .. and it was his first after 64 spoon-less weeks! His last spoon was in week 16 of last year's comp.
Newcastle lost at home to Fulham, ending their nine-game undefeated run. Bristol City finally won, ending their win-less streak at seven games .. ditto Wolves, who also ended their seven-game win-less streak.

Two games were picked by no-one and one game was picked by everyone .. which gave us three weekly winners and four wooden spoons .. paper_aero swapped last week's spoon for a weekly win, and wwe84 went in the opposite direction swapping last week's win for a spoon, his 14th for the season. He's still the only player in double figures.
Howie72 and gtho4 are still spoon-less.
After back-to-back wins BHA and Huddersfield both lost. Ipswich and Fulham both lost, ending their undefeated runs of eight and seven respectively.
Rotherham lost again to make it seven straight losses and a win-less steak of 11 games. With just 8 games left in the season they are doomed to go down: even if they win all eight games they'll end up equal third last on 41 points (presuming those three teams all lost), but with a far worse GD than those three.
It looks like Newcastle and BHA will be in the FAPL next season. It's a toss-up who will go up as champions. The next three will probably make the play-offs, as there's 5 pt gap back to Sheffield Wednesday. The last play-off spot should be filled by Wednesday or one of the next three teams.

We had just one weekly winner and one wooden spoon in wk 39 .. illiniman14 collected back-to-back spoons in weeks 37 and 38 but turned down all requests for an encore performance. He scored a humungours 10/12 for a weekly win & an entry in the FLC Record Book.
N-Bomb collected his second spoon for the season (his first was in week 24) but retains the lead, with a reduced margin, for the 29th straight week. For the sixth straight week there are no changes behind him, all the way down to 7th place.
Every game was picked by someone and *three* were picked by everyone. We achieved a strike rate of 57.7% between us and another entry in the FLC Record Book (see post below this one) .. wwe84 collected two bonus points; one of them was a solo pick, Huddersfield to lose at home to Burton! He and ozzz2002 now have 28 bonus pts apiece.
Howie72 and gtho4 are still spoon-less.
Blackburn Rovers & Leeds Utd both lost, to end their undefeated runs at seven games. Rotherham Utd lost again to make it eight straight losses and a win-less steak of 12 games. Although there are still seven games left in the season they've been relegated to League One.
Newcastle and BHA both won and are still favourites to play in the FAPL next season. It's a toss-up who will go up as champions. The play-off spots should go to four of the next five teams.
