Another autumn falls upon us, and with it brings a new Premier League season. That can only mean that the FA Premiership League Tipping Competition must be back for its 17th iteration. After two years of N-Bomb's reign, illiniman14 pulled out a victory last year, completing his own 3-year run where he earned every place on the podium. PaulE led most of last year but faded in the middle of the season to eventually pick up silver, while ozzz2002 made an incredible run from last to first, allowing him to eventually take bronze. Who will be there to take it all this year? The rules are as simple as you can get. A correct pick gets you a point, and an incorrect pick does not. Failure to pick results in a default, the wooden spoon score for that week. After 38 weeks, we will crown a champion. Tiebreakers are differential between weekly wins and wooden spoons, followed by weekly wins. The season begins on Saturday, August 13. Sign in below to enter, and good luck!

| The inaugural week for the 2016-17 season starts very tightly packed, with 10 tippers tied for 5th place and the entire field separated by 2. We welcome toocool4u as the only new entrant this year, and bid farewell to LeoDaVinci and KrivoyRog but hope for their return. Four tippers went out to the front of the field on the first weekend. gtho4 separated himself from the pack with a solo pick of Swansea’s victory; ozzz2002 did the same with Hull’s victory. paper_aero and srini701 did so with a simple formula of solid picking. While they pick up weekly wins, George95 and PaulE pick up spoons even though neither found themselves missing a game solo or nearly solo. Sypher was the only other tipper to pick a game solo, taking West Brom in their away victory over Crystal Palace. Everybody was able to get a point for Manchester City’s win, and nobody earned a point for the draw between Southampton and Watford as everyone picked Southampton except for dg_dave, and he took Watford for the win. For the fourth year in a row, away teams came away with more victories than any other result on the first week of the season. Manchester United’s victory may have been expected, and Liverpool played a hotly-contested match with Arsenal. Elsewhere, Swansea kept a clean sheet against Burnley on their return to the Premier League after a 1-year absence. Finally, West Brom took home a win against Crystal Palace. |

| ozzz2002 picks up his second weekly win and in the process goes out to first alone. Dizart was the only other tipper to join him with in the weekly win, as both notched 7 correct tips. On the other side of the week, a majority of our group ended their chances of going the entire year spoonless, as 10 spoons were handed out this week – 8 of them to those who previously did not have one. Now, in week 2, there are only 4 tippers who have neither a HoF or a spoon. Nobody predicted Hull City’s victory over Swansea on the road coming, as they are attempting to become this year’s Leicester City; tied atop the leaderboard in points with Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea. However, everyone was able to get a point from Tottenham winning at home and Chelsea win on the road. Dizart was the only tipper to take Burnley in their victory over Liverpool. Last year’s champions Leicester City lost in week 1 and managed a scoreless draw against Arsenal this week, as they sit 5 points off the lead in 15th. This year’s newbies are led by Hull City tied for the most points, while Middlesbrough is slightly behind tied for 5th, and Burnley (last year’s FLC champions) are in 8th. |

| Some very high scores littered the field this week, with paper_aero and ElfTwinkle leading the way – paper_aero only missing out on a perfect score in the Southampton-Sunderland draw, and ElfTwinkle taking a risky draw for Hull City and Man U. That was enough to propel paper_aero into a tie for the lead, tied with Dizart, and ElfTwinkle only 1 back. tooocool4u felt the sting this week, picking up a spoon. ElfTwinkle and wwe84 were the only 2 tippers to take the Southampton draw. dg_dave attempted a solo pick, taking a draw between Everton and Stoke City, but he was denied. Everyone came out with a point with Chelsea and Arsenal’s victories. Perennial powers Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea all continue to have perfect records, while Everton has the fourth spot alone and surprising Hull City has fifth place all by themselves. Meanwhile, Liverpool is surely looking forward to a home game eventually. Five teams are tied with one point a piece in the early fight for relegation. |

| paper_aero notches his second consecutive weekly win, and with it he takes over first place alone. illiniman14 also picks up the weekly win alongside LeoDaVinci, with the former in second place alone. Dizart falls back from a tie for first last week to third place alone. wwe84, srini701, and toocool4u all pick up spoons this week. It was a pretty bad week for all of us on the whole. Everybody was able to get Arsenal’s victory, but no one received a point out of either Chelsea’s draw with Swansea or Watford’s road victory over West Ham. Only dg_dave was able to predict Crystal Palace’s victory while only George95 and FussBudget earned a point from Manchester City’s win. Manchester City’s victory in the Manchester Derby puts them on top of the table, the only team with a perfect record intact. Chelsea can no longer say the same after their surprising draw, and they are tied for second with Everton, following the latter’s victory on Monday over Sunderland. Meanwhile, Stoke City earned their place at the bottom of the table with a 4-0 loss to Tottenham, moving their goal differential to -8 as they nurse a solitary point. |

| N-Bomb highlighted a pretty good week for the field by hitting 8/10 matches. The only matches he missed were 2 that nobody in the entire field got – Liverpool’s away win against Chelsea and Watford’s win against Manchester United. ElfTwinkle, Sypher, and George95 all shared spoons this week as they were the only tippers to go below 50%. papaer_aero retains his one point lead on illiniman14 this week as the latter now has a two point advantage on third place. Everyone got a point from Leicester City and Manchester City’s wins. We were close to also sweeping for Tottenham’s victory except for wwe84 picking a draw and most got a point for Arsenal’s victory except for wwe84 and toocool4u taking draws in that match as well. There was only one match this week (West Brom’s win over West Ham) where less than 10 tippers got a point where at least 1 person got it right. Manchester City keeps up their perfect record, as they continue to have a 2 point lead on Everton, who themselves have a 2 point advantage on Tottenham. 2016 champion Leicester City is sitting mid-table, hampered by their poor road performances. Sunderland and Stoke City remain the only winless teams, with Stoke holding a -11 goal differential and are the early favorite for relegation. |

| A weekly win performance puts illiniman14 out front by one point over paper_aero, as the latter relinquishes the top spot after being there for 3 weeks. Both illiniman14 and LeoDaVinci have earned 2 wins in the last 3 weeks, and the latter of those two is now tied for third with N-Bomb, 3 back of the leader. Four tippers all near the bottom of the table shared a spoon this week. Everybody earned a point from Manchester City’s victory over Swansea, but nobody got one from Bournemouth’s win over Everton. Only 3 (ozzz2002, dg_dave, and Howie72) picked Burnley’s win correctly, while ozzz2002 (for picking a draw for Liverpool) and wwe84 (for picking a draw for Tottenham) both missed attempted solo picks. Manchester City’s perfect season stays alive, while Everton goes tumbling down into a tie for 3rd which actually puts them 5th with their goal differential. Tottenham now occupies the 2nd spot alone, with Manchester United sitting just outside the top 5 and Chelsea in the 8th position for now. Arsenal and Liverpool are both within 2 points after their victories, while Everton falls back a little with a draw and are now in 5th place alone. Manchester United and Chelsea are both 1 point back of them. Sunderland managed their second draw of the year, and remain in last place as Stoke City fended them off with a draw as well. |

| Much of the leaderboard remained the same this week. Sypher picks up a weekly win moving up from 12th place to be tied with ElfTwinkle, who picks up the spoon after moving down from 5th place. Eight of the current top nine all hit half of the matches correctly, with the lone dissenter being wwe84, who only hit four. Most of the matches were very hit or miss this week. Only one match (Bournemouth-Hull City) resulted in neither a maximum of four tippers getting a point or missing one. Everybody got Arsenal’s win, and nobody picked Tottenham’s draw. wwe84 was the only one to take Liverpool and Manchester United’s draw; toocool4u was the only one to take a draw between Manchester City and Everton; and the other 5 matches resulted in 3, 4, 13, or 14 points for the field. | paper_aero extends his lead a little further, resulting in the first lead of more than a single point in the first 10 weeks of this comp. If it’s taken this long before, this site no longer holds that information – but in 2011-12 it took 8 weeks for a similar result. N-Bomb picks up the win this week and moves into a 3-way tie for 3rd. The bottom 7 tippers all took a spoon, meaning there is now an appreciable gap between the top 10 (all separated by 6 points) and the bottom 7 (all separated by 3 points) of 5 points. ElfTwinkle was the only recipient of a point as Manchester United drew with Burnley, and also earned a point alongside wwe84 in Tottenham’s draw with Leicester. Unfortunately, ElfTwinkle also joined FussBudget in missing out on a point when Liverpool beat Crystal Palace and when Manchester City beat West Brom. The only match everyone earned a point on was Arsenal’s easy win over Sunderland. The current top 4 in the table all won on the road while Tottenham drew, leaving them in 5th with a 2-point gap either way. Everton is still in the thick of things in 6th, while Manchester United looks to avoid being this year’s Chelsea as they middle in 8th place. Sunderland looks headed for relegation already, while Swansea is also a favorite and Hull may return to the ELC as they are 3 points behind a triplet of teams in 18th. |

In a very low-scoring week, 9 different tippers picked up a win by hitting less than half of the available matches. FussBudget and wwe84 both picked up spoons. Three matches produced no points for the field. Hull defeated Southampton, with only 4 tippers willing to go so far as to pick a draw. | paper_aero holds onto the lead, but illiniman14 closes the gap by picking up the weekly win. Behind him, gtho4 and N-Bomb are tied for third, while three others are within 3 points of the podium. Both ozzz2002 and wwe84 picked up spoons this week as the former hits his low of the year in 9th place. Everybody notched a point for Manchester City’s victory over Crystal Palace, and then came right back and gave up a point for picking Everton to win in their draw against Swansea. FussBudget was the only one of us willing to take a draw between Southampton and Liverpool, and N-Bomb hit on Bournemouth’s victory at Stoke City. With Liverpool’s draw and Chelsea’s victory, Chelsea leaps to the top of the table after their tenth-place finish last year. The top 6 are back to being the usual names, although Manchester United only has 6th on goal differential over Everton and Watford. Sunderland moves out of last place with their victory as Swansea takes the lead spot for relegation, and Leicester sits only 2 points out of relegation the year after their Premier League title. |

| While everybody shifts around behind him, paper_aero puts up another solid week and the lead increases to 3 points. N-Bomb now moves into second, as Dizart moves into a tie for third with a weekly win, sharing the latter honor with wwe84 as they both hit 7 matches this week. illiniman14 picked up a spoon to also share in the tie for 3rd (with gtho4 as the other member of the current podium), and that cutlery also goes to PaulE, Sypher, srini701, FussBudget, dg_dave, and George95 as they all celebrated the Thanksgiving weekend with appropriate utensils. Everybody hit 3 matches: Arsenal’s win over Bournemouth, Manchester City’s win over Burnley, and Liverpool’s win over Sunderland; while we all missed Leicester’s draw with Middlesbrough. The spoon score of 4 meant those 7 tippers split their remaining correct pick among 4 games, as only ozzz2002 hit Stoke’s road victory and 3 tippers (none of whom received spoons) got Manchester United’s draw. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all sitting pretty with their victories at the top of the table. Arsenal sits a couple points behind the top 3, but 4 points above Tottenham, who suffered a defeat and is now solidly in the 5th spot, also up 4 points on Manchester United who is now alone in 5th. Sunderland finds themselves right back at the bottom of the table again after Swansea won a shootout. |

| N-Bomb and Sypher are the co-winners this week, and N-Bomb moves slightly closer to the top spot of the table. paper_aero remains at the top for the 8th consecutive week. LeoDaVinci and wwe84 both pick up spoons, but don’t lose much ground relative to where they were last week. Everybody notched a point with Tottenham’s victory, but everybody lost out when Liverpool fell to Bournemouth. N-Bomb snagged a point alone when Sunderland took down Leicester, and then got one alongside dg_dave as Crystal Palace beat Southampton at home. Chelsea took down Manchester City and Liverpool fell on their own, meaning Chelsea is above second-placed Arsenal by a full 3 points. The top 5 is filled out by Tottenham, now 6 points in front of Manchester United as they drew with Everton. Sunderland found some life with a victory and is now only a point from leaving relegation. However, Swansea sits 2 points separated from anyone else at the very bottom. |
