This thread is the first of five, and there is a total of 15 different events to select. Some of these events have heats, semi-finals, etc before the medal round, but some are all over in one day, so there may only be a short window of time to get your picks in. Each thread will have at least two events, grouped by time. A small change of plans- results will NOT be posted until after the final event. Select three athletes for each event, and points will be given on a 5-3-1 basis. If you score a gold medal in your selected event, you will score a bonus point. EventsMen's cycling road race- August 6 Cycling road race Women's rugby sevens- August 6-8 Sevens draw Deadline- start of the cycling. Tiebreakers- 1- How many total medals will the host nation, Brazil, win? 2- What will be the winning distance in the final of the women's javelin?

Need a couple of clarifications, so please bear with me: 1. It's enough if we post 3 athletes/teams right, and not in order of who we think will win gold, silver or bronze...for example, even if my 3rd pick wins the gold, I get the 5 points (or will I get only 1 as it was my 3rd pick)? 2. Winning distance, as in difference between gold and silver, OR the actual possible distance thrown by the gold medal winner?

Order of picks is not taken into account.2. Winning distance, as in difference between gold and silver, OR the actual possible distance thrown by the gold medal winner? Total distance- probably somewhere over 60 metres.

Only two hours to go until the start of the road race, and we are missing a couple of starters.
