Wow. They completely changed the style of their promotional bumpers. Does anyone else think that the new stark, solid colors is a downgrade?

I genuinely like the old programming. It was such simpler times and I miss it and feel sad for it. Now there are things about these modern days that I greatly appreciate and think have advanced us in many ways. But the cost of it was our families, sitting together, eating together, "board game nights," road trips to Florida, all of those things that we still remember. Gilligan's Island, Taxi, Welcome Back Kotter, Jeffersons, Brady Bunch, these are just little vestiges that I hold on to and remember the past.

I do want to say, a lot of people seem to miss the point of Gilligan by criticizing it as unscientific and impossible. A basic premise of the show is it's zaniness and that it's not meant to make a scientific statement. One classic skit shows Gilligan receiving radio waves through a metal crown in his mouth. Some people can't seem to enjoy a show if it's not scientifically correct. But comedy provides greater latitude than a more serious genre, because serious programs can and often do promote stereotypes and misunderstandings, like how schizophrenia and other mental illness has been portrayed in Hollywood that has had serious ramifications.

I like the old programs. One I used to watch on there was Gilligan's Island, a favorite since I was a kid. Another favorite was Mama's Family, and I Love Lucy. I also liked Green Acres but I wouldn't call it a favorite. And Taxi, I love Taxi! And Mary Tyler Moore.
