Is there a thread going on somewhere? I have six ingredients and can make something but the dish isn't available.

It doesn't matter what you think you can make - the challenge of the game is to find one of the four combinations that will produce one of the dishes in the game. You can see discussion from the early days of the game here:

Since a number of new recipes were added very recently, there probably won't be more added for quite a while, but if you want to suggest one, you can do so. there is a thread for suggestions somewhere, but I don't remember where, and just spent a futile 15 minutes looking. Maybe if you post a query in the thread I linked above, someone else will remember - that's where the active players chat.

Yes, most of the questions have already been answered. The "Suggest a Recipe" thread is the best place to put the recipes. I have used quite a few of them actually.

In terms of not being able to make something from your current ingredients, you can only make the dishes on the current list. That's because we have to make a recipe and image for each food dish. Keep a look out for ingredients you can trade in the market, and also make sure you are looking at your recipe book.

Just out of curiosity, is the "Crazed Chef" text able to be adapted / tweaked to address the "Did you know no one has made yet?" message that sometimes appears?

Now that there are new dishes, that blank will once again include the name of a dish, as it once did before the chefs got to work.

I counted 249 recipes available now...it was something just a hair over 150 when it started.

It's probably a bit more - there have always been some hidden recipes to keep players on their toes.

I see all the new recipes have since been discovered -- the Crazed Chef text is back to having a blank in the middle. Perhaps that text ("no one has made...") should be disabled until any new food items are added. The Chef's "hint of the day" isn't as useful if it's periodically choosing an empty text.
