From Germany to Japan (I enjoyed the Erika, Toni!). 'Sukiyaki'- Kyu Sakamoto Its real name is "Ue o Muite Arukō", but non-Japanese would really struggle with that, so it was renamed for the American market. It hit Number One in 1963. EDIT- Apparently our forums struggle with the original name, too! It should be 'Ue o Muite Aruko'.

Hehe poor ole forum, getting all tongue-twisted with your japanese title (me too, I find the american-ified version much easier to pronounce). Here's a catchy one, successfully hijacked by a certain soft-drink giant in a 70s publicity campaign - I'd like to teach the world to sing

Always loved the Van Der Valk theme music, "Eye Level". Here's a vocalised version - And you Smiled ~ Matt Monro

So many memories! Here is another oldie, but goodie. Procol Harum - Conquistador Some great guitar and violin work in this song, which usually gets overshadowed by 'A Whiter Shade of Pale'.

WOW! I did not know that there was a vocal version. I like it just as well as the instrumental.

"Your Hand in Mine" - Explosions in the Sky. Now, let me tell you, I have seen a LOT of bands live. Stadium pop stars, forgettable pub bands, metal concerts, you name it. I think Explosions in the Sky overtook them all as the best I've ever seen on Thursday night. Beautiful instrumental rock, very moving.

The First Woodstock Festival gave great public exposure to these guys - Soul Sacrifice ~ Santana. They came to fame just before I made my entry into the world, however, despite my nickname, I'm not a fan
