I just think it's a really good song. Hasn't everyone turned into an obsessive stalker over their ex? Hmm... maybe just me, then.

I have never seen anyone - not even once - after we broke up.

And I've been married twice.

"Fields of Gold" - the Eva Cassidy version and her incredible rendition of "Over the Rainbow"

Also "The Way You Look Tonight" always reminds me of my father and is sure to set me off.

Afterimage by Rush

it was written about the memory of a dead friend and whenever i hear it, i cry for my friends i miss and for my lost family members.

Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon

I remember
How we talked and drank into the misty dawn
I hear the voices

We ran by the water on the wet summer lawn
I see the footprints
I remember

I feel the way you would
I feel the way you would

Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood

I remember
The shouts of joy skiing fast through the woods
I hear the echoes

I learned your love for life,
I feel the way that you would
I feel your presence
I remember

I feel the way you would
This just can't be understood...

I know that 'Beautiful Boy' by John Lennon shouldn't be very sad, but the lines "I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go," always make me cry, because John Lennon never did live to see his son, Sean (who the song is about), "come of age."

There are quite a few songs that make me cry. But the 2 that stand out most are "Christmas Shoes", and the following song that I heard on the way to my daughters graduation and I bawled my eyes out.

Rascal Flatts - Skin Lyrics

Sarah Beth is scared to death
To hear what the doctor will say
She hasn't been well
Since the day that she fell
And the bruises just won't go away
So she sits and see waits with her mother and dad
Flips through an old magazine
Till a the nurse with a smile
Stands at the door
And says will you please come with me

Sarah Beth is scared to death
Cause the doctor just told her the news
Between the red cells and white
Something's not right
But we're gonna take care of you

Six chances in ten it won't come back again
With the therapy were gonna try
It's just been approved
It's the strongest there is
I think we caught it in time

Sarah Beth closes her eyes
She dreams she's dancing
Around and around without any cares
And her very first love is holding her close
And the soft wind in blowing her hair

Sarah Beth is scared to death
As she sits holding her mom
Says it would be a mistake
For someone to take
A girl with no hair to the prom

Oh, just this morning right there on her pillow
Was the coolest of any surprise
And she cried when she gathered it all in her hands
The proof that she couldn't deny

Sarah Beth closes her eyes
She dreams she's dancing
Around and around without any cares
And her very first love is holding her close
And the soft wind is blowing her hair

It's a quarter to 7
That boy's at the door
Her daddy ushers him in
And when he takes off his cap
They all start to cry
Cuz this morning where his hair had been
Softly she touches just skin

They go dancing
Around and around without any cares
And her very first true love is holding her close
And for a moment she isn't scared

The Beatles' Long and Winding Road and Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here do it to me every time.

On the morning of Sept. 12, 2001 I was getting ready for work and Don Henley's "End of the Innocence" came on the radio. I lost it - it was the first time I had allowed myself to really react to what had happened.

Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn't have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standing by
When "happily ever after" fails
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers dwell on small details
Since daddy had to fly
But I know a place where we can go
That's still untouched by man
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass wave in the wind
You can lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
O' beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie
But I know a place where we can go
And was away this sin
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass wave in the wind
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair spill all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
Who knows how long this will last
Now we've come so far, so fast
But, somewhere back there in the dust
That same small town in each of us
I need to remember this
So baby give me just one kiss
And let me take a long last look
Before we say good bye
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence

Rainbow Connection as sung by Kermit The Frog. This song was played at the funeral of a dear friend, and it wasn't until then that I realised how appropriate it is for a funeral.
I can never get through more than the first line or two of "Amazing Grace" before the first tear starts to roll down my cheek.
Crucify by Tori Amos will occasionally bring a tear if I'm in the right (or wrong, if you prefer) frame of mind.

Never had a song make me cry but the saddest I've been involving music was on February 15, 1995. The day KNAC went off the air in Southern California, the final song was Fade to Black, two seconds of dead air, then taken over by another generic Mexican radio station.

Really sad. That was the day hard rock/heavy metal officially died in SoCal. 12 years later, no radio station in the region has come even close to picking up the slack. Probably never will now that satellite radio is making its mark.

How 'bout "I'll Wait for You"by Joe Nichols?

Snow in Montana was three feet high
Lady at the desk sais they're ain't no flights
So he called her on the telephone
Said I'll rent a car and I'll drive home
And she said I'll wait for you
Like I did last year
At Christmas time
with your family here
And your truck broke down
Out in San Antone
and the gifts stayed wrapped
til you got home
Oh this ain't nothing new
Sweetheart I'll wait for you

He was on a cell phone
In a Coupe'DeVille
Talkin to the one he loves
and always will
His heart is breakin
cause she's there alone
Her heart is achin
cause she wants him home
And she said I'll wait for you
like in 'sixty eight
When our child was due
And I said he'll have to wait
Til his Dad gets here
And stands by my side
Do you remember Dear
Our son's first cry?
Oh this ain't nothin new
Sweetheart I'll wait for you

He didn't stop all day
to eat a bite
He finaly got there
around midnite
The doctor said
She's in a better place
She said to give you this note
just in case
And it said I'll wait for you
at Heavens Gate
No I don't care
how long it takes
And I'll tell St. Pete
That I can't go in
Without my love
and my best friend
Oh this ain't nothin new
Sweetheart I'll wait for you
P.S. I love you too

If You're Reading This---Tim McGraw

Has anyone heard this one? I just heard it for the first time this morning, and I cried through the entire thing. Reading the lyrics makes me want to cry.

If you're reading this
My momma is sitting there
Looks like I only got a one way ticket over here
I sure wish I could give you one more kiss
War was just a game we played when we were kids
Well I'm laying down my gun
I'm hanging up my boots
I'm up here with God
And we're both watching over you

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed where it would go.
If you're reading this I'm already home.

If you're reading this
Half way around the world
I won't be there to see the birth of our little girl
I hope she looks like you
I hope she fights like me
Stand up for the innocent and the weak
I'm laying down my gun
Hanging up my boots
Tell dad I don't regret that id follow in his shoes

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul is where my momma always prayed where it would go
If you're reading this, I'm already home

If you're reading this, there is going to come a day
You move on and find someone else and that?s okay
Just remember this
I'm in a better place
Soldiers live in peace and angels sing amazing grace

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul is where my momma prayed where that it would go
If you're reading this
If you're reading this
I'm already home

I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner.

I never know why, but when that chorus starts I can't help it.

There are so many songs to name that touch me on different levels, I think Simple Life by John Farnham is another song that gets me teary and, um is it Empty Garden that was sung by Elton John and John Lennon? I'm With You by Avril's a good one too.

In the movie Good Morning Viet Nam; we find Robbin Williams playing the part of DJ Adrian Cronauer. In one scene, he is sitting in a jeep and stuck in traffic. He's enjoying some good-natured joking with a platoon of soldiers being transported in an open-back duce and a half truck. When he asks where they're headed to, a smiling young soldier answers with one dreadful word, "Natrang."
In all sincerity and no longer grinning, Williams wishes them good luck and get back safe.
As they drive off we see Robin with a sad tear in his eye. We are listening to the voice of Louis Satchamo Armstrong singing, "What a Wonderful World."

Whenever I hear that beautiful song, there will be a tear in my eye.

One song that always makes me cry when I hear it or sing it is "Christmas Shoes" by Bob Carlisle. It is so sad.

These are the lyrics:

"It was almost Christmas time
There I stood in another line
Tryin to buy that last gift or two
Not really in the Christmas mood

Standin right in front of me
Was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

And his clothes were worn and old
He was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Sir, I wanna buy these shoes
For my mama, please
Its Christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir?
Daddy says theres not much time
You see, shes been sick for quite a while
And I, know these shoes will make her smile
And I, want her to look beautiful
If mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
And the, cashier said Son, theres not enough here.
He searched his pockets franticly
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Most years she just did without
Tell me, sir, what am I gonna do
Somehow Ive gotta buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down
I just had to help him out
And Ill never forget the look on his face
when he said Mamas gonna look so great

Sir, I wanna buy these shoes
For my mama, please
Its Christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir?
Daddy says theres not much time
You see, shes been sick for quite a while
And I, know these shoes will make her smile
And I, want her to look beautiful
If mama meets Jesus tonight

I knew I caught a glimpse of heaven love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that god had sent that little boy to remind me
What Christmas is all about

Sir, I wanna buy these shoes
For my mama, please
Its Christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir?
Daddy says theres not much time
You see, shes been sick for quite a while
And I, know these shoes will make her smile
And I, want her to look beautiful
If mama meets Jesus tonight

I want her to look beautiful
If mama meets Jesus tonight

"Autumn Leaves" is originally a French song that definitely lost something in the translation. Here is a translation from French:

Oh how I wish you remembered those happy days when we were lovers.
During that time life was even more beautiful and the sun seemed to shine even brighter than it does today.

But dead leaves now cover the ground. You see, I haven't forgotten. The dead leaves are collecting on the ground along with memories and regrets.

And the north wind carries the leaves in the cold night of forgetfulness. You see, I haven't forgotten the song you once sang to me.

It's a song that you wrote for us; you loved me and I loved you. And we lived as one, you loving me and me loving you.

But life separates those who stray --so gently, without a sound. And the sea now erases in the sand the footprints of the separated lovers.

And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her skies

I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you...
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

The song "Two Little Boys" by a guy called Ted Egan, it was recorded by Rolf Harris though.

Two little boys had two little toys
Each had a wooden horse
Gaily they played each summer's day
Warriors both of course
One little chap then had a mishap
Broke off his horse's head
Wept for his toy then cried with joy
As his young playmate said

Did you think I would leave you crying
When there's room on my horse for two
Climb up here Jack and don't be crying
I can go just as fast with two
When we grow up we'll both be soldiers
And our horses will not be toys
And I wonder if we'll remember
When we were two little boys

Long years had passed, war came so fast
Bravely they marched away
Cannon roared loud, and in the mad crowd
Wounded and dying lay
Up goes a shout, a horse dashes out
Out from the ranks so blue
Gallops away to where Joe lay
Then came a voice he knew

Did you think I would leave you dying
When there's room on my horse for two
Climb up here Joe, we'll soon be flying
I can go just as fast with two
Did you say Joe I'm all a-tremble
Perhaps it's the battle's noise
But I think it's that I remember
When we were two little boys

Do you think I would leave you dying
There's room on my horse for two
Climb up here Joe, we'll soon by flying
Back to the ranks so blue
Can you feel Joe I'm all a tremble
Perhaps it's the battle's noise
But I think it's that I remember
When we were two little boys

I'm tearing up now just proof-reading the lyrics.
