I would do just that. I believe editors have the ability to selectively block individual questions from use in games outside of the quiz as well as mixed quiz eligibility. If it is decided you are up in the night and it is a clear enough question, hopefully you just dont see that one again.

Yup, send a CN - we'll look at it and do what seems best. Sometimes a question will be blocked from games; sometimes a few words will be added, or different answer options given, in order to make things more clear; and sometimes we'll look at the entire quiz and figure that it's not worth saving.

When I'm told a question is unanswerable, the first thing I look at is the percentage correct. It's a really good indicator of whether there is actually a problem or if it's just you.

You might want to bump up the number of Champion sets in the Daily Game, too. They are getting 50-60 people per set while the other sets only get about 20-30.

Thank you for those answers. I hummed and hawed and decided I'd just hope not to see it again, lol! But if I do I'll ask for an editor's judgement.

Agony, surely the percentage will indicate how easy it is to answer within the original quiz? I had a look at the original quiz in this case and the question is somewhat a logical progression from the previous question. Again, nothing wrong with question per se -- context makes the only difference.

Hope I am in the right area, if not sorry in advance!

How about a badge or badges i.e. 3/5/10 (open to whatever) that have the potential to constantly change hands?

For example:
Any game(s): The top 5 players with the best scores/quickest times for the day would receive a badge for having the best scores/quickest times. In order to keep the badge(s) they'd need to repeat the next day or risk losing that to another player.

Should there be a tie then the player who has the most points for the day wins.

I am not sure if it's even possible, it just popped in my head and sounded pretty cool, so I wanted to hurry and say something before I forgot.

Thanks,
Sam

How difficult would it be to put a viewable timer on the Gold Madness game, as it is on the Hourly Games? It seems that every time I go check and see how much time is remaining, it's 5+ hours. It's confusing, what with Daylight Saving Time.
Thanks!

I'm not sure if this question has been asked before but... Are there any plans or is it feasible to combine match quizzes with photo quizzes?

I think it'd be something that might work well.

I have a vague memory of having read this suggestion before.

But in this case I suppose the photos would really need to be thumbnail size, which makes it rather hard to play.

An idea, you know how stats are kept for teams for which teams boards are most active, how many hourly games were played by teams etc. etc. How about having one that ranks what team (its members) has the most expert wins and what team (its members) has the most individual quizzes and team quizzes. I realize they'll be disportinate because of team sizes and that, but the idea isn't really about what team is bigger or better. I just think it'd be pretty cool, plus, it'll add some more fun type stats in that area.

Just some little silly ideas to ponder Wes and Terry if you two ever get bored and feel like coding ;-)

Thanks for all that you guys do and the rest of Fun Trivia staff!

Sam

It might be time to think about merging some or all of the chat board topics into fewer or just one chat board. The "World" board, for example, has threads dating back to 2015 on the very first page, and only has six threads with responses for all of 2018. If you don't think they all need to be merged into one, you could merge the "Show Biz" categories (Celebrities, Entertainment, Television, Movies, Music, Video Games), the "World Facts" categories (Sci/Tech, Geography, History, People, World, Animals), the six boards at the top (except maybe the blogs) into one board, and then a catchall for the rest (For Children, Harry Potter, Literature, Hobbies, Sports).

I got a question yesterday that asked "Who was the first person to get a driver's licence in Ontario?"

Er...let me think now...Donald Duck?

I don't follow, on two accounts:

1 What had Donald Duck to do with Ontario?

2 How is this a "suggestion"?

Not going to lie, I immediately went to Google upon hearing the driver's license question as it sounded like a really interesting tidbit of trivia.

I'll admit to not getting the Donald Duck thing, but I kind of like the question. I don't particularly care if I get it right, but it sent me down the Google rabbit hole, and if I were rating it, it would get an Excellent from me on that basis.

'Interesting' trumps 'Difficulty' to me-- I don't really care if I'm wrong.

I get the idea of what kyle is saying and also that we are trying to be sporting and not reveal the answer here but I dont think this discussion can be had in full without discussing specifics of the answer. I dont have time for a good old fashioned google rabbit hole adventure at the moment so I will just generically address the question itself.

I assume it is someone fairly famous who has at least some loose ties to Ontario. In that case, it is then a tad obscure but a valid question in my eyes. If it is a less notable individual, not so much. And of course that can get hopelessly subjective as level of fame varies regionally.

Well, I have tried to google the answer and didn't come up with a name, but an interesting tidbit that might invalidate the question anyway. Ontario issued "chauffeur licenses" beginning in 1909 but only required "operator licenses" for all drivers from 1927. The site didn't mention what exactly separated the two (whether it was driving as a job or simply having passengers). Either way, this would give the question two possible answers.

Not sure about the early days, but in the 1950s and early sixties, my Dad was required to have a chauffeur's license for his job with Ontario Hydro, driving hydro trucks as part of his job, but not necessarily driving other people.

I'm pretty sure they'd sue you for trespass. One little rabbit against Google - I wonder who would win that battle...

The Ministry of Transport of Ontario site makes the difference between chauffeur licenses (for people driving other people's motor vehicles) and operator licenses (for anyone who drives a motor vehicle). It shows an image of one of the earliest licenses, but not of the number one.

When we go into someone's list of quiz lists of other players (apart from their own), is it possible for them to be highlighted if we've already played them before?

I'm trying to figure that out. They weren't for the first couple I played, but they are today. I'll have to hold off playing the list I'm currently on for a couple of days to see if they disappear again.

I have had that happen a few times, too. If you click 'Claim This Quiz List Trophy', it fills in all the gaps.
