Thank you.
Another basic question. It might just have been chance but the first set of general questions I saw seemed much harder to me than usual, the special topic questions on a par with past sets. is there an attempt to make all the Level 10 questions harder than the normal sets (or maybe just the unstarred sets?].

My impression had been that at level 8/9 literature and humanities questions, to name but two categories, switched from moderate to very hard. I haven't tried anything but the starred sections yet on L10 so don't know about them yet.

Double asterisks have a mostly fixed difficulty - you will almost certainly play them more often at high levels than on low ones.

My personal feeling is that the decline in GC participation goes hand-in-hand with the general decline in computer usage and on-line text game participation. Chatrooms are dying, too. If Terry, Wesley, etc., can figure out how to incorporate FT into Facebook or make an app for GooglePlay & iPhones that links into the main site, that would bump up the numbers considerably.

I definitely agree that having a app would be beneficial, if possible. There is a whole generation out there that uses apps constantly that rarely visits sites.

Only players in normal mode count. The game has to be stopped manually, so needs Terry to see this thread.

With 92 regular and 18 Hardcore Immortals, this round was the first to threaten running into the 100 limit. The large number of Immortals was also caused by it being one of the slower rounds in history, finishing at 1506 games.

The race for the normal mode medals was a really close one with only 9700 points separating the gold from the bronze. In the end, bubbles20 narrowly took first place in front of Ampelos and postcards2go.

In Hardcore, rossian edged out MikeMaster99 and TriviaFan22 for the top spot.

Bubbles20 and TriviaFan22 are first time visitors to the podium, Ampelos claims his second medal and the other three are regulars.

BTW for the next game we will be adding an additional end-of-game condition going forward:

If at any time the top 100 normal players are Immortals, the game will immediately end, regardless of how many new players have actually earned the badge.

Basically an automatic enforcement of the 100 rule. I like it - will it still end at end of set however? Might be unfair otherwise.

This round would have had a different winner if it had ended mid-set.

Yeah. Too complicated to do anything mid-set anyway.

Wesley, I'm sorry but the final stats on the GC 30 results page (here)
http://www.funtrivia.com/minigame/hall/30-toprated.html

don't match the actual final stats after the last set of games (here)
http://www.funtrivia.com/minigame/globstats.cfm

Thanks for correcting this.

Do you mean when all 100 of them reach the Immortal stage?

Yes, once the Normal top 100 page is all Immortals, the game will end. This is a backwards compatible rule change as of this round (it would never have changed anything in the past).

It was announced somewhere around Division 6 this game, but now it'll be implemented in the code, so it can't run over.

So, just for clarity, is it correct that in the event of a logjam around #100, if a player or players makes level 10 in that last set but lands outside the top 100, they would not get the immortal badge?

They do get it. It would just possibly be more effort to award it: I pulled and saved the top of Div 9 a day before the close this time; if we had run over, I would have used that to check.

Of course in case that gets forgotten, it'll be a bit of a hunt!

Hi - Why does it still say "Global Challenge - Highest Division Reached: (8) The Newtonian Club" from years ago on my profile? I've reached Div 9 and now 10 since then. Please correct. Thanks!
