I'm the current admin for a private tourney. I wanted to use a quiz on Frank Lloyd Wright. I know within the people category there are at least 30 (I personally wrote 20 or so questions worth myself) or so questions worth of quiz questions on that individual but it does not seem that any combination of words that I try to use brings up potential questions for a custom category in that area.

Is there some secret to getting quizzes into the custom category pool?? I don't recall seeing any keyword type fields for quizzes which might help with this, but perhaps I missed something that helps get things going in this area.

The Frank Lloyd Wright category was added to the main site after the last update of the question database for private tournaments. Thus, that system has no knowledge of it.

You might want to use Architecture as a category instead.

Thanks for the reply and current status. As a quick follow-up, how frequently would the question database for the private tourneys get updated? (Just trying to set my expectations).

Sadly, while I wouldn't mind using Architecture as a category, thinking it would have (and does, from memory) Architects as a sub-category, the editors for that category tend to think that if the questions for quizzes in that category aren't more directly related to the architecture (instead of the architect) that the quizzes belong over in the people category so there are few, if any, questions about the architect Frank Lloyd Wright over in the Architecture category. Instead, those are largely the batch of questions that I was able to submit over in the People category.

Hopefully they'll eventually be questions I can use in the private tourney I play in (and rotate admin responsibilities with others as we take turns in the job).

Again, thanks for the reply and assistance. Definitely helpful to know how things are.

Not to discourage you, but the private tournament question pool has not been updated in a loooong time. It's due for an update, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If you want people to see your FLW quiz, have them take it on the main site.

It's still on the to-do list. What has happened in the past is that private tournaments have their own database of very old questions. What I want to do is hook it all up to the live database, so it will always and forever be up to date. Coming soonish!

Hi Terry

A group of us participate in a private tournament and it would be great if we could get up to date questions instead of the current set of older questions. Can you let me how you are getting with hooking the private tournaments up to the main database and a rough estimate on when it will be completed?

Thanks

Nick

Also whenever we have a 'Custom Topic' some people will get a different set of questions to others. This does not happen with the main categories. The host has the quiz set to 'same questions for all'. Do you know why this is the case?
