Well, it's only fitting that Copago is my co moderator here and we start a bit of a thread of music to wait by, lullabies and anything that's good for expecting parents! And that Lupetta is a melomane herself...so come on folks...

So come on, put your thinking caps on!

I'm going to...
Anything good for labor? Lullabies?

When I looked after my nephew for my sis, the only thing that would shut him up was "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". My other nephew would only go to sleep to "Two Little Boys".

I hope they're not scarred for life!!

My youngest daughter was always mollified with a chorus of "Jesus Loves Me", sung over and over again.............!

My little boy loves me to sing to him, it's lovely to have such an appreciative audience. His favourite is 'Train Whistle Blowing' by The New Seekers. I think it is a lovely song for a baby or child. It doesn't put him to sleep though. The day I find a way to put him asleep I will be a very happy girl!!!

I'm hopeless at remembering them! Afterall it's been a while since I heard them, the other day I had the CAT running away with the spoon, then the BOWL until I was soon corrected by someone much younger about the existence of the DISH.

So far, I've been humming a lot.

I've heard about a new CD for parents who don't want their children to only know baby songs and tweenie pop bands. Of course, I know that's what some people's taste is. But this CD takes "proper" songs, and modifies them for infant ears. It's called Punk Rock Baby, and it modifies punk songs from the 70s. It's part of a series, soon to include Dance Baby, and I think, Indie Baby, with things like Radiohead on it. It's from a record company, but I can't remember which one. I'm sure if you type it in somewhere on the internet, it will tell you.

Sounds funny.
I know that my kids used to have to listen to "I'm a Soul man" whenever I put sunglasses on them and made them do the Blues Brothers on my knees.
And then, we also did the Beach Boys, and wipe out.
This is particularly good when they like to pull themselves up and fall on their behinds.
You know when you drummed on your desk edge?
Well they loved it.

I also played Celtic stuff to them.
Some of the kiddie tapes you get have such poor arrangements that I can't stand them.

Now I know some are against Disney, but the music isn't half bad, you haven't laughed until you've heard a toddler belt out the Little Mermaid's song, or the Lion King or Aladdin.

We had many Italian children's tapes! Just plug 'em in to the old Fisher Price cassette player and she was a happy camper! The songs were cute, much modulation to the music, cute high pitched voices, interesting material (if you understood the lyrics)....her very favourite was "Mi Scapa la pi pi" ( I Wet my Pants, I think)...

Other than that....any "blues" song...."Hey, babe, won't ya boogie...boogieoogieoogie with ME!

Puff the Magic Dragon....any song with repetitive words or animal sounds!
