Oh dear, it's been November for ages! I blame Wesley and his Halloween challenge; okay so I completed that in a few hours when it was still October but I have to blame someone don't I?

This is a 1979 Morris 'Marina' 1.3 Coupe. These cars frequently appear in lists of the worst cars ever built, but surprisingly, was one of troubled British Leyland's top selling models during the 1970s. In 1980 the Marina was replaced by the Morris 'Ital' which was simply a Marina chassis with a 'new' body styled by the Italian design house, Guigiaro; a commission that I wager they'd rather forget about!

An uncle of mine always insisted on buying British. His first car was a 1962 Austin A40 Farina and throughout his entire driving career he owned numerous Austin Maxi's and 1100/1300 saloons. In 1976 he purchased a Marina because it looked modern and sporty... A decision that he regretted so much that three weeks after buying the Marina he returned to Wadham Stringer and bought back the Austin Maxi that he had part exchanged for it!

Wow, I thought it was an AMC Gremlin at first glance!

Not only was I surprised to see any dragonfly or damselfly still on the wing at this late stage in the year, but when I captured this image earlier this afternoon at Stover near Newton Abbot in Devon there were dozens of them still on the wing. Some patrolling their territories, some engaged in the mating ritual and other pairs ovipositing in the shallow waters at the edge of the lake... Marvellous to see.

This individual is the male of the species, a dragonfly known as the Common Darter, Sympetrum striolatum.

Today is the 36th anniversary of the taking of this image. This is my observation post on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland just a few miles to the south of the troubled village of Crossmaglen.

I would like to be able to share a few more photos but I have a big problem. When Telecom NZ joined with yahoo the old xtra e-mail addresses were shut down, my flickr account needs that e-mail to log in with so I now have 4500 or so photos at flickr that I cannot access. If I try to login I have to put in my yahoo e-mail and that does not bring up the flickr account with all of the photos....I am very frustrated.

Have you contacted flickr? This can't be a unique problem - so many Telecoms/Hosting companies have merged over the years they may have a workaround their users can access, a bit like changing passwords only this time it would be email address.

Other people have tried and told to do something only for it not to work, they get messages saying they cannot do what they were told to do.

Then flickr needs to check its programming and fix it. You can tell them I said so. Oh wait...

The vehicle is the chassis of the Challenger II main battle tank with the usual turret removed and replaced ith an open topped shell in which the instructor and a small number of other recruits await their turn to take control of this massive vehicle.
