I don't like drop down menus. I frequently manage to activate them when trying to look at something else. I suppose I'll get used to them - eventually.

Am I blind, or is the New Question game not present under the games dropdown on the home page? It's never been on the old homepage but has been added to the new one. Thanks Terry!

Ah ha, I *think* I see my problem: The beginning of this thread started off saying that the new homepage is eventually going to be what is at: www.funtrivia.com/indexnew.cfmAssuming the current dropdown header of www.funtrivia.com is going to be migrated to that and just hasn't been yet, then there's no issue - it's there. My bad! Presuming that the other pages that use that old header dropdown style (Forums and My daily quiz, at least) are going to be converted as well, then there's nothing to worry about.

I don't like drop down menus either, they are a pet hate of mine. Would it please be possible to have a way to choose to switch them off, similar to the 'Switch to brief' feature on new quizzes on the present original home page? A little confused -- if you don't like them and your proposed solution is me removing them, then why not just ignore them / not use them? You can get to pretty much all of the site from the homepage without using the menus. Links to all the major sections are right at the top: http://www.funtrivia.com/indexnew.cfm

Thanks for the reply Terry. I realise what you are saying, but they tend to pop up when I am navigating the site quickly, only for a moment until I move away from them but's still annoying. Is it possible there could be some provision for people to choose to turn them off if they wish please?
Hi Jennifer -- there are no plans at this time to allow people to disable menus. I think you will find after a while that at times that there are some entries under those menus that you would like to get to!

It's looking great. There's one thing I can't find though. In the 'old' home page "Me" dropdown, is "Gold Member Features", which leads to a handful of useful links. Am I just not seeing it or did it disappear? Hmm yep... I will build a brand new GM page that puts everything together neatly in one place.

While you're working on the GM page, could you please make it easier to renew (extend) the GM membership prior to the expiration date. (When I click on Gold Member, it tells me I am one. There's an option to upgrade, but it just tells me again that I am already one.) Maybe it is there but I just can't find it. Thanks.

This is unfortunately a limitation with the Paypal system we are using. Since it uses subscriptions with specific start and end times, it's not really possible to pay before a subscription expires. That said, if you select an "auto renew" option, it will automatically renew each time and you never have to worry about it.

The date of expiry of Subs would help.
I do not have automatic renewal as I am ill (cough cough) and old and have seen several gold members who have been absent for years

And we have a basic working version of the new Gold Member central: http://www.funtrivia.com/gold/Are there any GM games / features missing from here?

Looks nice. (Except, it says I'm not a Gold Member, up at the top... seems to function, though)
I especially like that I will not be limited to having just 'popular' categories along the left.

Apologies for not having read through all the posts: will there be a clearly marked one-click button for "All New Quizzes"? At present it takes two clicks - and that drives me mad. Too much scrolling involved Don't blame me. Blame my parents for making me an Aries...

Under Gold Statistics it has "My Quiz Playing Stats" twice. Both go to http://www.funtrivia.com/goldstats.cfm. Are those supposed to be different? (At the moment the links go to "An Unexpected Error has Occurred") I like the idea of choosing categories to display on the homepage. The list is a bit confusing because the main categories in bold made me think that the categories listed below them were subcategories rather than just alphabetical. I think it would be clearer if EITHER all the main categories were listed before the list of the others OR if the categories that aren't in bold are actually under the main category (i.e. Forensic Science under Sci/Tech, not under For Children). Pinning challenges sounds like a great idea, but I couldn't see how to do it. Is that still a work-in-progress? (I know the page isn't live yet, but the other links did show how to configure...)
