I have noticed some players that sign up and disappear wouldn't a site clean up benefit all players I saw 1 player who hasn't played in 17 years (pen)? Also wouldn't it help if laugh teams deleted some posting on the team board again some go back 10- 15 years. blaster2014.

You're clearly not an historian, interested in researching the archives for fascinating insights about the past. smile

I would never consider deleting my team's old posts (we go back 9 years). As looney says, the team's history is there. smile

And some people decide to come back to the site after a 10+ year absence. It's nice they can pick up where they left off, instead of having to start over again.

Oh well it sounded like a good plan but I'm sure the player that hasn't played in 17 years will be back but I guess you just never know.

I periodically delete old posts on our Team Board that have only had one or two responses. The popular ones are left untouched though.

Certainly some things -- like file cabinets, storage boxes, old papers, emails, etc -- should be gone through and cleaned up every few years, so you don't end up with huge piles of junk you'll never need or use again.

Even Web sites should be kept "cleaned up" so that old pages and etc aren't bogging it down.

But my guess is that FunTrivia doesn't really have much to gain from purging very-old, not-used-in-15-years accounts. On one hand, I'm not Terry, so I can't speak for him. That said, I tend to think that deleting all the ancient accounts would probably be a huge effort, and far outweigh any possible benefits.

What we do know, however, is that having run the site for some 20 years, Terry is an excellent webmaster -- he keeps the site up-to-date, fixes problems when they come up, responds to people's messages to him, and is just all around a great guy who knows what he's doing to keep FT running smoothly. Which is to say, he does lots of stuff "in the background" that we don't know about, and if something needs changing, he'll see that it gets done.

The main reason for 'tidying up' is to create space. If those long gone members' records aren't slowing down the site - and, if they were, I'm sure Terry would have done something with them - it's not an issue.

Would it be possible - *some time* - to put page numbers along the bottom of topics page in the team rooms, so that it's easier to go to a page where you have a rough idea of the location of an old topic - for revival purposes?

At present to locate an old popular topic (topic A say) that has slipped off the main topic page, been forgotten, and slipped further and further away, you have to scroll through page after page, which is fine, until it's found. Then open it up, read it, and add to it so that it goes back to the first and current page again.

*However* if you then want to look through other old topics and revive a couple of them as well, it takes you back to the first page again, and you have to start from the beginning once more to scroll through page by page to find where you had located Topic A, and proceed from there.

It's a tedious process. In our team, for example, we have hundreds of old really popular topics that have slipped away after a year or so, but that, when periodically periodically, set the team off playing like mad again. But it takes forever to find them.

I seldom go through this process to find them more than half a dozen times each time I'm looking for old popular topics, because it takes too long. And there's some real gems buried in that very lengthy list of older topics.

Ditto with a page numbering request - but only for some time when you're not busy, ho ho - for the list of personal quizzes? I've got a lot written, and though I can sort them by alphabetical name if I need to go through them at any time to get an idea for another one along the same lines, or maybe to do an edit, it's still a page by page process to get to any one quiz in particular. Beginning with W for example.

However, if the pages were numbered, I'd click on the last page number to find the same quiz. If that makes sense. I'm considering only writing quizzes with names beginning with either A, B or C. It's not that I'm not lazy, just really, really busy all the time. Setting up those quiz lists, for example, took me a couple of days to locate the ones for the different categories.

The second half of this request is not really important, but the team topics lists is more so.
