| | | The scoring system will be the same as last year: - one point a correct pick in Weeks 1 and 2,
1 point for picking the winner of the AFC Championship Game, 1 point for picking the winner of the NFC Championship Game, 4 points for picking the winner of the Super Bowl.
- total points each week, excluding bonus points:
Week 1 : 4 points Week 2 : 4 points Week 3 : 4 points Week 4 : 3 points
- bonus points for the seeding of the winner of a game.
- bonus points for picking the Super Bowl winner in advance, before the fact:
4 bonus points for picking it in week 1, 3 bonus points for picking it in week 2, 2 bonus points for picking it in week 3.
- tie-breaker :: if players are on equal points after the Super Bowl:
(a) first team to score, then (b) leader at half-time, then (c) total points in Super Bowl then, if required, (d) aggregate total points of the two Championship Games combined.
These are the 11 end of season games:

A strange opening day means that nobody will have a perfect Super Bowl run this year. N-Bomb and srini701 lead all tippers with 3 correct picks and 16 total points, while 3 others are 1 point behind. Nobody else got more than half correct this weekend, including wwe84, who went 0/4. The only tipper to lose their Super Bowl pick was ozzz2002, whose LA Rams fell. Two other tippers lost the Rams as their NFC Champion pick, while toocool4u lost Carolina.
Last year’s wild card round was a dreary, boring opening weekend. This year was much different. It seemed it might start similarly, with Kansas City going up 21-3 at halftime over Tennessee. The Titans opened the second half with a 15-play, 91-yard touchdown drive, ending with a touchdown pass from Marcus Mariota that was batted up by a Chiefs defensive player, back into the arms of Mariota, who ran it in for a touchdown. Two more touchdowns with two failed two points conversions gave Tennessee a 22-21 lead, which Kansas City could not overcome.
The Rams and Falcons played an even first half, with Atlanta up 13-10 at the break, but the Rams couldn’t gain any traction in the second half. A bounty of field goals made it 19-13 Atlanta, and a touchdown towards the end of the fourth quarter was all she wrote for the Rams, falling 26-13.
Bills fans contributed en masse to Andy Dalton’s charity over the last week, when the Cincinnati QB led his team to a victory over Baltimore, giving Buffalo their first playoff appearance in 17 years. They would not take advantage of it, however. In what was a horrible game to watch, Buffalo and Jacksonville were tied at 3 at halftime, with the lone touchdown coming late in the third quarter after a 9-minute drive by the Jaguars. That would be the final score after a scoreless fourth, 10-3.
New Orleans had to punt on their first two drives, but then scored touchdowns on the final three of the first half, while Carolina settled for field goals on their last 3 drives of the half. Carolina got another field goal to start the second half to make it 21-12, and the Saints answered back with their own. The Panthers finally broke through with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 24-19. After two 3-and-outs, the Saints scored again to go up 31-19. A late touchdown wouldn’t be enough for the Panthers, as they fell out of the championship hunt 31-26.

With 14 seconds to go, srini701 was primed to go into the top spot with dg_dave close behind, as New Orleans was just about to close out their victory against Minnesota. Instead, illiniman14 is on top with the 8-point turnaround and they sit in 4th and 5th, respectively. ElfTwinkle rose from 3rd to 2nd, but has the advance pick of Minnesota for the NFC Champion to narrow the gap. N-Bomb dropped out of first place, but still sits in a podium position.
Defending NFC Champion Atlanta found themselves in Philadelphia facing backup QB Nick Foles instead of the star Carson Wentz, but that wouldn’t matter unless Atlanta could score points themselves. The Eagles offense would only find the end zone once (and missed the extra point to boot), but 4 field goals were enough to propel themselves over the Falcons, who had 10 points at halftime and on their 4 second-half possessions, accumulated 3 punts and a turnover on downs. With that, the #1 seed Eagles moved on to the NFC Championship Game.
New England played Tennessee. That is… almost all you need to know. Tennessee actually went up 7-0, followed by 35 straight points by the Patriots. The Titans managed another touchdown on their final drive, but the final score was 35-14 New England.
What could have been the game of the weekend was in Pittsburgh, where the surprising Jaguars (who beat Pittsburgh 30-9 in the regular season) went up 21-0 early, and after a fumble return touchdown were up 28-7 late in the second half. The Steelers showed some life, throwing on a touchdown heave on a 4th and 11 at the end of the half to make it 28-14. Pittsburgh even opened the second half with a touchdown, and we had a game. Jacksonville would score again in the 4th quarter to make it 35-21, but Pittsburgh answered to make it 35-28. The Jags hit right back to make it 42-28, only to be answered again for 42-35. Jacksonville refused to let up, hitting a field goal, meaning Pittsburgh’s late touchdown was meaningless, and the Jaguars found themselves in the AFC Championship game after winning 45-42.
Like the #1 seed in the NFC, #2 Minnesota found themselves starting a backup QB, although Case Keenum had been starting for much of the season. The Vikings were up 17-0 at halftime, and that, as they say, would be that. …Or it could have been, if Drew Brees wasn’t on the other side of the field. With their opening drives in the second half, the Saints scored 2 touchdowns, only to be answered with a field goal by Minnesota. Down 20-14, New Orleans would score a touchdown with 3:01 left to go up 21-20. The Vikings would march down and hit a long field goal to go up 23-21 with 1:29 left. Undeterred, the Saints hit their own field goal with 25 seconds remaining, to go up 24-23. With the clock ticking down, the Vikings sat at their own 39 yard line, 61 yards away from the end zone with 14 seconds left and no timeouts, the game seemed over. However, a throw to the sideline was caught, and the New Orleans defense made a horrible play, missing the tackle completely and allowing the receiver to waltz into the end zone, sending the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game 29-24.

With only the Super Bowl to go, illiniman14 is a shoo-in for the gold if he picks New England (which, he will) and they win. The top 5 tippers all took New England with their Super Bowl advance pick in Week 1, and PaulE, the first Philadelphia picker, is 5 points back – so the 4 points the advance pick will make up on its own will not be enough.
If Philadelphia wins the Super Bowl, and PaulE picks them to (which, presumably, he will), PaulE will win gold, since his advance pick will be enough to surpass ElfTwinkle in second place. The rest of the field will have to choose who to pick to ensure a spot on the podium.
The Jaguars and Patriots gave us a good game to start off the day. New England was able to get a field goal on their opening drive, but Jacksonville scored touchdowns on two straight possessions, going up 14-3. A late Patriot touchdown made it 14-10 before halftime. Jacksonville kept the heat on with a field goal on their opening second half drive, and then another a couple possessions later, to go up 20-10. New England would fumble on their next possession, but the Jags couldn’t take advantage of it. Tom Brady made them pay, throwing a touchdown pass to make it 20-17 with under 9 minutes left. Dueling punts took the clock to under 5 minute when New England got the ball back at the Jacksonville 30 thanks to a good punt return. Five plays later, Brady found the end zone again to go up 24-20. On their final chance to score, Jacksonville would find themselves in a 4th down and 15, failing to convert and go to the Super Bowl.
The Vikings and Eagles gave us a stinker to end the day. Minnesota scored a touchdown on their opening drive. Philadelphia scored the next 38 points. The Eagles won 38-7.

Now we get to root for cheaters (Spygate 2007, Deflategate 2015) or a fan base that has to have riot police at tailgating parties (Philadelphia).

Only two tippers could come out with the gold based on the Super Bowl outcome, and it was PaulE’s faith in the Philadelphia Eagles that paid off in a win. Congratulations! The underdogs came out hot and refused to let up like Atlanta last year, only giving up the lead for just over 7 minutes for the entire game. PaulE and wwe84 were the only tippers to take the Eagles as their advance Super Bowl pick (though gtho4 would make a… somewhat late… attempt) despite being the #1 seed in the NFC, probably due to having a backup QB for the entirety of the playoffs.
N-Bomb and gtho4 rode the Eagles in the Super Bowl to the podium as well (even though N-Bomb never left the podium in all 4 weeks). gtho4 was able to take third in a tiebreaker over illiniman14, going to the third tiebreaker, where gtho4’s 55-point prediction for the Super Bowl was 3 points closer to the actual 74 points than illiniman14’s 52.
Super Bowl LII started with a fast pace, and it never let up. Both teams started with opening drive field goals. Philadelphia then came out and scored a touchdown, but missed the extra point. The Patriots answered with a field goal attempt, but a mishandled snap meant the kicker couldn’t get a clean kick and missed. The Eagles scored again a couple drives later and went for 2 to make up for the earlier missed point, but failed on that attempt, to go up 15-3. The Patriots got a field goal, caught an interception, and added a touchdown, but missed an extra point of their own and found themselves now down 15-12. The Eagles scored a touchdown just before the half and actually made the extra point, ending the half 22-12.
New England opened the second half with a touchdown, answered with an Eagles touchdown, answered back with another Patriots touchdown. The Eagles hit a field goal, and down by 6, the Patriots scored their third touchdown of the half and went up 33-32. The Eagles answered back with a touchdown of their own. Tom Brady was then hit and fumbled the ball away down 38-33 with only 2:16 left, and Philadelphia recovered. The Eagles hit a field goal to go up 41-33 with 1:05 left. The Patriots were able to get the ball down to their own 49 yard line, but a game-ending Hail Mary ended up on the ground, and the Eagles won their first Super Bowl.
