Sometimes it does occur to people if so many people wear glasses how do animals all seem to manage without them? The answer is some don't as they can have the same defects as we do, and secondly when tested and required some have been fitted with glasses and benefitted accordingly. The two animals most prone to short sight are horses and some breeds of dogs. You can shine a light into each eye and measure the reflection to determine the prescription almost as well as a conventional eye test, which they also use on young children and people unable to use an eye chart. I would have hoped when animals prone to refractive problems went to the vet this check would be done automatically and glasses prescribed if required. The dogs and horses who have used them, which strap on with elastic like sports goggles have done very well using them. Nowadays laser treatment is also an option.
