I've been running "THE Dynamic Dinosaurs" for roughly two and a half years. All I ask of my current team-mates is that they research a dinosaur and share what they've learnt on the team's message board. However, the majority of my team-mates never bothered to do as I've asked them and I've come to realise that none of them really have a genuine interest in dinosaurs. Therefore, it's likely the team will be disbanded, and I've let my active team-mates know this. Maybe I'll have better luck with a new team.

I think you'll have better luck with a team if you don't assign homework. Most people are here to play whatever they want to play. "Play some team games every day" is a reasonable request in a more competitive team, "be active on the message board" is good for a chatty place. In general it's best to keep to things on the site people would likely want to do anyway.

I suppose you're right. I'll probably have better luck if people aren't required to do anything to be a member of the team. None of my active team-mates responded to the team mail I sent, so they obviously don't care much about the team. As of now, "THE Dynamic Dinosaurs" are disbanded.

I'm sorry this happened. I hope you find another team that you enjoy!

Sometimes it is better for some players (including myself) to be team members rather than team leaders. Team leadership requires a considerable amount of self sacrifice. Most players (including myself) do not have the time, energy, and skill set to be good team leaders. Successful team leadership is not about doing what the team leader always wants. It is about managing people with different interests and talents. This frequently requires soothing over differences between team members, something I'm not good at. I tend to pick sides with whoever I think is right about something. Not a good trait for a team leader.

I've posted a recruitment message and sent out some invitations to see if anyone wants to join my new team, "Inhabitants of Planet Earth". My previous group started a team quiz but we never got it finished, and now the team's been disbanded so I can't delete the quiz. Is it possible for an editor to delete the quiz for me?

Thanks. I've noticed that a number of teams have pictures displayed on their 'Info & Ranks' pages. How can I put a picture on my team's page?

My original team on this board was made up of people who shared an interest in lexicology, logophiles, word nerds. Over time, fewer and fewer of them participated, e.g. in the Team-versus-Team and Team Hero games. No one posted to the team message board and the whole thing sort of skidded to a fizzling finale. I left the team in sadness and disappointment and looked around for a new team. By taking my time and communicating with some people whose stuff I admired on the board, I was able to find a new team which was willing to take me in and have been really quite happy to have found folks who write a lot of quizzes, who play the team games, and who post all manner of stuff on the team bulletin board. There is hope!

If you go to 'Configure', under where you wrote your teams description, there are two links... one says, "Upload Team Profile Picture". The other says, "Upload Team Header Picture". The header is more banner-like, and the profile is more avatar-like.

I have discovered as a team leader that if you aren't actively recruiting all the time, your numbers and participation will invariably drop off over time. I was just reviewing lists of active members, and while no more than half a dozen names have changed since 2016, the number of names that changed between 2014 and 2016 was over a dozen. So that's at least 18 people I would have been down if I hadn't been recruiting the whole time.

The public domain picture I uploaded still hasn't appeared on my team's "Info and Ranks" page. How long does it normally take to a picture to appear?

IIRC, these images must be approved by an admin before they can appear.

Thanks for the response about the need for constant recruitment, Hairy Bear. I'm certain you are precisely correct.

I've never actively recruited for team members. It'd make me feel like a door to door salesman. Blow that (pardon the pun). If somebody wants to join, they just do.

But different strokes for different folks.
