Quiz List Page 46 is displaying a mixed up numbering system, includes list 48, list 25, and list 3.
Page 47, the earliest page, starts at List 10.


Is this because people have deleted their lists? Or is the system glitching and will early lists fall off?

There is an option to make your list viewable to the public or not. Hidden lists could easily account for the missing list numbers (as well as deletions)

I dont know exactly how they get out of order except maybe if a new list is created as "hidden" but eventually switched to public..maybe it joins the quiz list index at the end of the order at that time point?

Not that particular one, but I've noticed the numbering before. It's been going on almost since the beginning. I don't actually know, but sort of assumed that if a list was changed (added to or whatever) that it moved into the latest "new" spot. If that's the case, it looks like they don't always return to their original spot in the numbering system.

I tried changing a quiz list and switching it online/offline, no result. I guess it's related to first online time, similar to quizzes.

I think the number relates to the time when the quiz list was set up, but its spot in the list to when it was first placed online. One of mine that was set up when there were only four quizzes, and placed online when the fifth was added, appeared with its number much lower than those near it on the list. Since most people seem to set up lists and make them active at essentially the same time, this difference isn't obvious most of the time.

I have another, the header for quiz list 1062, currently on page 1 of the index says the list has 5 quizzes but upon entry, only 4 quiz titles are listed...

What gives?

When I. Lick on quiz lists on home page it shows I have completed 260 lists, yet in my profile it shows only 248.

Why is there a difference in these two numbers, I’m assuming they should be the same. I think the 248 figure is correct but where does the 260 number come from?

Lick should read look. This iPad has a mind of its own sometimes.

I have a discrepancy of 1, but that one's because I had claimed one of my own lists early on - that one obviously does not count.

pmarney, can you play and claim http://www.funtrivia.com/special_lists.cfm?quizlist=1129 and see if that one causes a miscount (profile not going up, but list page does)? I have a weird suspicion there - total shot in the dark. (Note to others: The test case only works as a test for pmarney - everyone else can of course play and claim the list normally, but you won't be able to confirm my suspicion.)

Not that anyone asked me, but I'll put in something I just found: According to my profile and also the badge-challenge page, I've claimed 102. But on the main Quiz Lists page, it says, "You have claimed 105 trophies to date." I'm no math major, but...

260 and 249

Okay, that disproved my idea it was somehow looking for 5 actually played quizzes (not yours) on the stricter count. Just wanted to be sure

It’s not a major problem as I am almost sure my profile list is correct not the other one, but just thought I would query it to see if anyone else’s was the same.

If my theory had been correct, the larger number would actually have been the right one, so I wanted to check.

Wait a minute, Wes...look at his numbers again. In post #1197221, pmarney mentions 260 and 248. In post #1197259, he mentions 260 and 249, yet both went up by one. I see the 260 staying static.

Played 8 lists yesterday and claimed them both totals went up by 8. List total is 268 profile shows 256 lists.

Dave - for my theory to work, it should have been the opposite. The 260 would have gone up, the 248 would have stayed). So either way, not what I was thinking.

Am I the only one with differing totals?

No, pmarney, this was mentioned in another thread and everybody has differing totals. And it can't be accounted for by adding (or subtracting) quiz lists any of us have made.
