We've had a full complement of 20 runners over the entire season of 38 weeks just once, in the 2nd edition of the FT-PL tipping comp way back in season 2004-05. Last year we had 18 runners over 34 weeks, this year we're back to 16 runners over 30 weeks. We gained zero newbies and lost two players: FussBudget and illiniman14. This year's FT Premier League is the 16th edition of this head-to-head comp .. 12 of the 16 runners have played in all of the last six comps which, curiously, have had alternating fields of 18 and 16. A retention rate of 12 players year-in-year-out for six straight years is some feat. 2013-14

This year's FT-PL comp starts with six wins out of eight games (last year it started with four wins in nine and the year before we also had a crowd at the top of the pile, with five wins week one). The defending titleholder paper_aero begins his defence with a win, as did the runner-up N-Bomb .. and third placed PaulE starts the season with a draw. That's one week down. We have 33 to go! |

After just two rounds, Dizart is the only player with a 100% record. Behind him paper_aero and gtho4 are equal second, two points in arrears. We then have *eight* players on three points, with one win each .. that's half the field of 16.
At the other end we have just the one runner with zero points: wwe84 has lost two from two.
Three of the 10 games were unanimous picks, for two hits and a miss (Manch City).
That's round 2 of 30 completed. It's still early days.

Dizart loses his 100% win record but retains the lead, as ElfTwinkle is the only winner from last week's top five. At the other end, four of the bottom six from last week all won. In other words, Dizart was the only player to retain his or her spot from last week. The rest of us continued to play musical chairs.

Last week we had five undefeated players; we're now down to two: Dizart and PaulE .. wwe84 had his first win. leaving George95 still looking for his first. He lost despite scoring seven, as LeoDaVinci picked the entire card apart from the upset win by WHU.
Once again three of the 10 games were unanimous picks but this week we all hit pay dirt with all three (the previous two were both two hits and a miss).

Dizart loses his undefeated record and is replaced out front by ElfTwinkle; one of only two players from last week's top eight to win. Sypher was the other one .. he replaced PaulE in third place (PaulE also lost his undefeated record). At the other end, everyone in the bottom eight from last week all won except two: ozzz2002 and George95.

Dizart returns to the top of the pile with a 7-6 win against N-Bomb. He's joined out front by Sypher, who hasn't lost since the opening day.
We had zero draws in the FT-PL this week. Four of the top six from last week won (paper-aero and ElfTwinkle lost) and four of the five tail-enders won (LeoDaVinci lost), which gave us another rendition of musical chairs: PaulE & George95 were the only players to retain their spots from last wk (the previous two wks had just one player retain his or her spot from the previous week).

ElfTwinkle was the only one from last week's top five to win and returns to the top of the table for the third time this season. She pushes Dizart back to 2nd and Sypher back to 3rd. That's edition #1 of musical chairs, the first three swapped places amongst themselves.
The second edition was amongst the 13 behind them. They also swapped places. In other words, no-one kept their spot from last week. It was a 100% perfect game of musical chairs!
This week's star performer was ozzz2002, who beat Sypher 7-4 to climb up 5 rungs from 14th to 9th. This brought to an end Sypher's undefeated run of five games (he hadn't lost since the opening day of the season).
wwe84 thumped Howie72 by a score of 8-4 (how poetic) to score his fourth straight win (both of them went into the game with three back-to-back wins). Prior to this streak of four straight wins wwe84 had lost the first three games of the season to sit at the foot of the table. He's now in 4th place, one point behind Sypher.
At the rear of the field, LeoDaVinci & N-Bomb have now lost three straight. The hi-lo column makes for interesting reading: all of us have a high that's in single digits and all of have a low that's in double digits (apart from the two out front, ElfTwinkle & Dizart).
New highs: wwe84 (again).
New lows : Fifiona81, N-Bomb (again), LeoDaVinci (again).
This weekly game of musical chairs should continue, again, for a few more weeks .. the first five are covered by 3 pts and the next 3 pts cover eight runners (that's half the field) .. and a single point splits the three tail-enders.

toocool4u won again, to extend his undefeated run to 5 games. N-Bomb beat ozzz2002, which ended his winning streak at three. Howie72 lost again to make it three straight defeats. LeoDaVinci (last) beat Sypher (2nd), to end his run at four straight losses.

We had yet another rendition of musical chairs. No one kept their spot from last wk (apart from LeoDaVinci at the rear).
toocool4u was the only player in the first four to win. He replaces Dizart at the top of the pile to become the 8th different player to lead this comp (solo or jointly). He's the 4th to either lead solo or lead on GD.
toocool4u extended his undefeated run to 6 games (he's won five of them). He was 2nd last before he started this run, having won just one of his opening four matches i.e. he's climbed 14 spots in 6 weeks.
Fifiona81 has now won three straight to move into 4th place .. she was down the bottom in 13th (aka 4th last) before she started this run. N-Bomb has also won three straight .. he moves up into 9th place (he was 2nd last before he started this run).
Howie72 lost again to make it four straight defeats, which sees him tumble from 10 spots from 4th to 3rd last across four weeks.
New highs: toocool4u (again), PaulE, Fifiona81 (again).
New lows : ElfTwinkle, Howie72.

This week was a re-run of last week .. no one kept their spot from trhe previous week, apart from the leader and the two at the rear of the field.
toocool4u lost, bringing to an end his undefeated run of 7 games. However, he wasn't alone. Last week's first three all lost, which left him still occupying the top rung on the ladder.
Fifinoa81's loss, which ended her streak of four straight wins, sees her drop from 2nd to 5th .. gtho4's loss ended his streak of three straight wins (and he drops from 3rd to 6th). N-Bomb beat Sypher to make it five straight wins .. he replaces Fifiona81 in 2nd place (he was 2nd last before he started this run).
This result makes it four straight losses for Sypher. Both ozzz2002 and Dizart came into the weekend's game with three consecutive losses (like Sypher), but they both won; which left Sypher as the sole recipient of the accolade for four straight losses.

Dizart was the only player in last week's top six to win .. he joins toocool4u at the top of the pile in a tie for 1st place. N-Bomb was held to a draw by paper-aero, which brings to an end a streak of five straight wins .. he drops for 2nd to 3rd.
srini701 won again to make it 4 wins in 5. He climbs up the ladder into 4th place, a new personal high for the season.
Although Sypher ended his run of four straight losses with a draw, he dropped three spots from 10th place to 13th, as three of the four below him won. LeoDaVinci is wondering what he has to do to win a game. He lost again to make it four straight (his 8th loss in the last 9 games).
