This year's edition of the FLC tipping comp starts early next month. It runs for 9 months, plus a day, over 46 rounds from Saturday 4th August 2018 until Sunday 5th May 2019. This is still the longest comp run here at FT in terms of number of rounds, but is not the longest in expired time from start to finish. That honour belongs to the FAPL comp. There is one change to the rules .. they're the same as last year, except that a bonus point will be awarded if your 12 picks have the correct number of draws e.g. you pick three draws and there are three draws, even if your three weren't the three draws: All of the 24 teams in the FLC have previously played in the FA Premier League, except for one .. and 10 of them have been crowned champions of England, the most recent being Blackburn Rovers in 1995 and Leeds United in 1992 (see post below* this one). This year's tipping comp is the 13th edition of the FLC comp. This year we again have 15 runners. The all-time high was set six yrs ago when we had a field of 20 runners and, since then, we've only attracted three newbies, shadowmyst2004 and nasty_liar (both were two yrs ago and both of them are no longer with us) and toocool4u this year. Welcome aboard! This is how the field has changed over the last seven seasons:

2015-16 17 KrivoyRog and ElfTwinkle returned, lost BxBarracuda
2016-17 18 KrivoyRog no-show, newbies were nasty_liar & shadowmyst2004
2017-18 15 nasty_liar, LeoDaVinci and shadowmyst204 were the no-shows
2018-19 15 toocool4u joined, LeoDaVinci returned, FussBudget & illiniman14 no-shows
Week One saw three winners (Dizart, LeoDaVinci & paper_aero) with 8/12 and one wooden spoon: ozzz2002 with 3/12. There were no bonus points for solo picks.
The only bonus points were scored by Howie72 & toocool4u; they picked four draws in their 12 picks. The 12 games finished 4-4-4 four homes, four draws and four aways. The 12 picks by toocool4u were 5-4-3 and the 12 picks by Howie72 were a bullseye 4-4-4. Both of them had just the one correct draw out of their four.
The highest number of draws picked were six by paper_aero (four were correct i.e. he picked all four draws), followed by ElfTwinkle with five (two correct) and Dizart with five (three correct). The lowest number of draws picked were zero by N-Bomb, the defending titleholder, and one each by PaulE, Sypher, dg_dave and ozzz2002.
These are the average H-x-A results in the FLC over the last six years, for those of us interested in statistics. Last year (2017-18), saw home, draws and aways all match the six-year average. Let's see what 2018-19 brings.

We had three winners in Week Two. LeoDaVinci scored back-to-back weekly wins to put 2 pts between himself and the peloton. The next five runners are separated by a single point .. and the first six have put 2 pts between themselves and the rest of the field. In other words, seventh is 6 pts behind the leader, after
just two rounds.
srini701 collected the wooden spoon.
Once again there were no bonus points for solo picks. The only bonus point was scored by wwe84, who picked four draws in his 12 picks (only one of them was correct). The highest number of draws picked were five by toocool4u (two were correct) and at the other end the lowest number of draws picked were zero by
N-Bomb and one by dg_dave.
After two rounds a mere three teams have a 100% win record: Leeds United, Aston Villa and Swansea City. Two teams have lost both their games: QPR and Reading.

Week Three sees the first solo winner, paper_aero, who collects a solo bonus point for that effort (plus a draws bonus), He replaces LeoDaVinci at the top of the pile and puts 3 pts between himself and the peloton.
It's a similar margin at the rear; the three in a triple dead-heat for last place are 3 pts behind the peleton. PaulE, one of those three, collected the wooden spoon.
wwe84 collected the first solo-pick bonus point for the season. He picked Hull to lose at home to newly-promoted Blackburn Rovers. Last week wwe84 was the only one to pick the correct number of draws (four, which was the same as the week one).
For the third straight week there were four draws; and this week five players had four amongst their picks. The highest number of draws picked were five by srini701 and the lowest was zero by N-Bomb and one each by dg_dave, ozzz2002 and Sypher.
Last week a mere three teams had a 100% win record after just two games: Leeds United, Aston Villa and Swansea City. Villa and Swansea were held to a draw, leaving Leeds as the only team with three wins out of three. The two teams who had lost both of their opening games, QPR and Reading, lost again.

For the first four weeks, the wooden spoon was collected by one player. This week three players collected a wooden spoon each.

Dizart again wins the round solo for a bonus pt, which sees him shave the margin behind paper_aero to a single pt (it was 6 pts two weeks ago). The two out front have now put 4 pts between themselves and the peloton.

For the sixth time in seven wks, the wooden spoon was collected by just one player: George95 with 1/12. It was his first spoon for the season; leaving two players with no weekly wins & no spoons: Howie72 and gtho4.
N-Bomb collected his first bonus pt for the season, which filled-in the last blank in that column. There were *five* draws this week and three players picked it for a bonus pt. No-one had six draws in their picks. The lowest number of draws picked was zero by N-Bomb and one by ozzz2002.
Last week there were two undefeated teams. Middlesbrough lost, leaving the leaders Leeds United as the only undefeated team. At the other end Reading won, in an upset, leaving two teams still looking for their first win: Birmingham City and Ipswich Town.

paper_aero and Dizart are close to running away with this. They're still separated by a single point, but have now put a mammoth 7 pts between themselves and the rest of us. The six behind them are separated by just one point.
Once again we had just one weekly winner and one wooden spoon. N-Bomb collected his first weekly win with 9/12 (the best picks so far) and flew up the table from 10th to equal 5th, to set a new personal high for the season.

For the 7th time in eight weeks, the wooden spoon was collected by just one player .. wwe84 collected his 2nd spoon in four weeks. We still have two players with no weekly wins & no spoons: Howie72 and gtho4.
There were three draws: five players picked it for a bonus pt. Most draws in their picks: Dizart with four. The lowest number of draws picked was zero by N-Bomb and one by Sypher (see numbers in small font in the far RH column of the standings).
Leeds United are still undefeated after eight rounds and at the other end Birmingham City and Ipswich Town are still looking for their first win. Birmingham have drawn six of their eight and Rotherham have drawn none.
