The race for the third and fourth place has become more interesting with Arsenal slumping to their first home loss since the season's start and with Manchester United and Tottenham losing too. Chelsea couldn't capitalise, drawing at home to Burnley. Meanwhile, Fulham seems to be playing freely in the knowledge that they are already relegated. They won on the road this time, against Bournemouth.
The end of the season fatigue seems to have hit us all, with the weekly winner's score being 5/10. We all missed a whopping 4 matches here. Fifiona81 is not complaining though, after bagging a first bonus point for the season.

While Liverpool and Manchester City are still chasing each other at the top, with the lead changing a record 30 times this season, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all suddenly feeling shy to take that decisive step for the 3rd and fourth spot which will guarantee them UEFA Champions League spots next year. All 4 teams continue to blow hot and cold even on the home stretch. Tottenham lost for the first time at their new home stadium, Arsenal lost on the road to Leicester to continue their woeful road form this year, while Manchester United and Chelsea could only draw their match. Meanwhile, Fulham wishes it's golden run came a few weeks earlier, as they notch their 3rd win on the trot after being relegated.
After a very long time, we had a very even spread of picks here. We were all unanimous only on 3 matches (despite Howie's pick for Manchester City to draw, his mind did tell him it was a City win), getting 2 right and missing the Tottenham loss. N-Bomb extends his lead at the top and has now been in the lead joint or solo, since round 12, a record run of 25 wins (which will extend to 27 weeks when the season ends and will merit an entry in the Hall of Fame).

Records continue to tumble: - Man City have won each of their last 13 Premier League games - it's the fourth run of a team winning 13+ games in a row in the competition's history, with City the only side to have done so twice.
- Man City have beaten every team they have faced in the league for the second consecutive season; the only other English top-flight team to achieve this were Preston between 1888-89 and 1889-90.

And so the final whistle has been blown on one of the best seasons in the English Premier League football. It couldn't have been any closer than this as two fantastic teams went head to head till the very last second. Plenty of records were set or broken and in the end, Manchester City won their fourth Premier league Championship - only Manchester United (13) and Chelsea (5) have ever won more in the competition. City also became the first side to retain the title since Manchester United in 2008-09. This was the eighth time the Premier League title has been decided on the final day of the season, with Manchester City winning it on three of those occasions (2011-12, 2013-14 and 2018-19).
Manchester City set some more records along the way - City's haul of 98 points is the joint-second highest for any team in English top-flight history (converting to three points for a win) - only City themselves have ever earned more (100 in 2017-18). They have won their last 14 Premier League games - only City themselves (18 in December 2017) have had a longer winning run in the competition. City won 32 Premier League games this season - equalling their own record in the competition from last season for most wins in a single campaign in the competition.
And what of the poor runners-up Liverpool? They were a worthy opponents to City all through the season. Liverpool became the first team in top-flight history to win as many as 30 games and 97 points in a season and not win the title. No side has ever previously lost just one game in a top-flight season and not won the title - the previous record was also held by Liverpool in the 2008-09 season (two defeats, finished second). Liverpool's tally of 97 points would have been enough to win the Premier League in all but one of the previous 26 seasons of the competition (2017-18).
Elsewhere, Manchester United finished 32 points behind the champions this season - more than they finished behind the top-flight winners when they were relegated in 1973-74 (30 points). Cardiff's victory was their first over Manchester United since 3 April, 1954, when their manager Neil Warnock was just five years old. And Tottenham finished a fourth consecutive top-four finish in the Premier League, their best run in the competition since 1964. The Wolves finish seventh, the highest position for a promoted side and they may get a chance to play in the Europa League next season if Manchester City win the FA Cup finals too! {All stats taken from BBC.com}
This was my first REALLY BIG comp here as a host and I thoroughly enjoyed it, though there weren't too many complicated scoring or bonus points involved. It was nice to have 16 people take part and even more impressive to see that of the 608 rounds of picks, we missed only 18 in all (LeoDaVinci takes the cake with 6 defaults  ).
N-Bomb built up a steady lead since round 12 and he walks away with the title, a good 9 points ahead of the silver medallist, gtho4. PaulE held off Dizart for the bronze after running neck and neck for most of the last several rounds. N-Bomb also enters the record books for leading the comp for 27 successive rounds. N-Bomb was also the only person to win the weekly winner's medal more than 10 times (12). wwe84 led the spoon tally with 13 but he doesn't end in the cellar. toocool4u with 12 spoons brings up the rear. ozzz2002 (11), Howie72 and Fifiona81 (10 each) also managed to enter double digits in the spoon tally. gtho4, ozzz2002, and LeoDaVinci took a shot at the lucrative 5 point bonus I offered for the final round, but unfortunately for them, they weren't quite there (ozzz2002 did come pretty close, so maybe he should buy those Lotto numbers )

Congratulations to the three medallists, and thank you to srini701 for running this comp! This year's two horse race saw a gap of 25 pts between 2nd and 3rd. The biggest gap in the old First Division was back in 70-71 (20 pts*) when Leeds United, like Liverpool did this year's comp, set a record for the highest points tally by a 2nd placed team.
