  • George95 was running on default fuel this week.
  • Central Coast took a shock lead away at Sydney but 2 yellow cards to Kalifa Cisse in 3 minutes saw him sent off, the Mariners held on until half time but a Sydney second half onslaught saw then score 5 times to run away with the game. Wellington played the final 25 minutes away at Adelaide with 10 players after their Spanish midfielder, Mandi, was sent off on the advice of the VAR (correctly this time) but they held on for a goalless draw. Western Sydney had their chances against Melbourne Victory but it was the giant Swede, Ola Toivonen, that scored each side of a Wanderers penalty to earn the points for Melbourne and in doing so, became the first Victory player to score in 5 consecutive matches. Melbourne City conceded early to Newcastle but came back to win, the Jets who were playing their 3rd match in 7 days had a player sent off in the 25th minute and still had the chances to earn a point but could not convert any. Brisbane cruised into the interval against table topping Perth, leading 2-0, but it all went pear-shaped after the break. A penalty and sending off just before the hour mark gave Perth a lifeline and they grabbed it with both hands, scoring another 3 times after the 80th minute to complete a remarkable comeback.
  • The more said about this round the better, it could not be much more different to round 11 as we went just 38/50 for a 76% strike rate, slightly up on last round's 12.72%. There were 2 perfect games as we all thought Sydney and Melbourne Victory would win while Adelaide's draw at home to Wellington and the Perth win at Brisbane were the trickiest to tip but still had 5 correct each.
  • Along with the 2 perfect games we also had a perfect round as Howie72 went 5/5 and earned himself his first bonus point of the season. Last round the weekly win was 1/5 and this week the wooden spoon went to wwe84, LeoDaVinci and Sypher but they still managed a meritorious 3/5.
  • Now that everyone has a wekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. Those without a bonus point are paper_aero, N-Bomb, srini701, gtho4 and ElfTwinkle so it looks like they have some work to do.
  • Back-to-back wooden spoons from LeoDaVinci sees ozzz2002 draw level and these 2 have a 3 point lead over paper_aero and Howie72 who after he takes over from George85. At the bottom, Sypher once again drops a point behind ElfTwinkle.

It's a torture really, each week, coming to see if we scored a 0 or a 1 (and being pleasantly surprised to see a sudden 3 or 4)

  • We had a full house this week.
  • Melbourne City edged Brisbane 1-0 at AAMI Stadium to stretch their winning run at this stadium to 7 games, they wasted a few chances but the Roar could not punish them. It was a classic game of 2 halves in Wellington as the visiting Central Coast dominated the first half to lead 2-0, I am not sure what was said at half-time but it worked as the Phoenix scored with the awarding of a 46th minute penalty and the red carding of a Mariners defender, another penalty and a late strike saw the comeback complete. AAMI Stadium was also good for Melbourne Victory though they left it late to secure the 3 points against Newcastle. Sydney had less possession but more shots at goal against Adelaide with the most telling statistic being Sydney's 2 goals to Adelaide's 1 goal. Perth made it 5 home wins out of 5 games this round but they did it the hard way, coming back from 3-1 down to score 3 goals in the final 13 minutes plus stoppage time to snatch the win from the jaws of defeat and show why they are top of the standings.
  • The abysmal result of 2 rounds ago is now just a distant memory as this round we went 46/55 for a 83.63% strike rate, even better than last round. Surprisingly there was only one perfect game being the Melbourne City win. The "trickiest" game to tip was Sydney's win over Adelaide and even then 7 of us got it correct.
  • We had 4 more perfect rounds to take the weekly win as ozzz2002, paper_aero, N-Bomb and LeoDaVinci all went 5/5. However, as they all picked home wins they were not eligible for the bonus point. In another shock, the wooden spoon score was 3/5 for the second round in a row and it went to Sypher and ElfTwinkle.
  • Now that everyone has a wekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. Those without a bonus point are paper_aero, N-Bomb, srini701, gtho4 and ElfTwinkle so it looks like they have some work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci and ozzz2002 maintain a 3 point lead at the top over paper_aero while Howie72 drops off the podium. The one to look out for is N-Bomb, he has worked his way back up to 4th place in a quest for 4 titles in a row. There is no change at the bottom as ElfTwinkle maintains a 1 point buffer over Sypher.

  • George95 was running on default fuel this week.
  • The scoreline suggests it was all one way traffic in Brisbane as Melbourne Victory put 5 goals past their hosts but it was Brisbane who were wasteful as they outshot their opponents by 21 to 12. Melbourne City finished on the right side of a 7-goal thriller against Western Sydney, the winning goal coming in the 94th minute. The Wanderers looked good when leading by 3-2 just after 60 minutes but a sending off swung the game back to City's favour and they took full advantage. Sydney ground out a hard fought win in Wellington, just holding on in the end and thankful for their goalkeeper saving a late Phoenix penalty. Newcastle eked out a crucial 1-0 win over Central Coast to extend their winning run in the F3 (named after the former name of the Pacific Motorway, which connects the two clubs) derby to 5 matches. It was a stalemate again for Perth Glory as Adelaide held them to a goalless draw in Perth but they remain top of the standings.
  • It was another good round as we went 30/50 for a 60% strike rate. There were no perfect games with the closest being Melbourne City's win over Western Sydney where only wwe84 did not pick this. If it had finished after 93 minutes then wwe84 would have had a bonus point but alas, it did not. The trickiest game to tip was Perth being held to a draw at home by Adelaide, this was predicted by paper_aero, LeoDaVinci and ElfTwinkle.
  • For the third round in a row we had a perfect round with paper_aero and LeoDaVinci repeating from round 13 and earning a bonus point each.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. His perfect round sees paper_aero earn a first bonus point, leaving only N-Bomb, srini701, gtho4 and ElfTwinkle without one and some work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci did not like ozzz2002 catching up him so he has moved back ahead by himself and has a 2 point gap while paper_aero has closed to within 1 point of ozzz2002. The one to look out for is N-Bomb, he has worked his way back up to 4th place in a quest for 4 titles in a row though he is still 6 points from the lead. The only change at the bottom is it is now wwe84 who only has a 1 point buffer over Sypher.

  • We had a full house this week though ElfTwinkle missed the Western Sydney vs Adelaide game with late tips, lodged about 26 minutes after the start of the game. As it turned out, it did not matter as her tip was incorrect at the conclusion of the game.
  • Adeaide piled more misery on Western Sydney's season as they came out on top by the odd goal in 3, the Wanderers have now equalled a club record 5 game losing streak. Sydney ground out another 1-0 win, this time courtesy of a Newcastle gift when the Jets scored a first-half stoppage time own goal and then had a player sent off in the second half. Melbourne City seemed content to not concede rather than try to win against Perth and it worked as the two teams battled out a goalless draw. It was a lot more exciting in the other Melbourne game as Victory came from 3-1 down to Wellington to grab a late equaliser in one of the games of the season. Central Coast and Brisbane also shared the points as they drew 1-1 in a game which had 9 yellow cards.
  • It was another decent round as we went 29/54 for a 53.70% strike rate. We once again had a prefect game as we all tipped Sydney to beat Newcastle. The trickiest game to tip was Melbourne Victory being held to a draw at home by Wellington,a result which only srini701 thought would happen. This inspired tip earned him a bonus point.
  • We had a solo weekly winner this week as ozzz2002 went 4/5. There was also a solo spoon awarded to gtho4 who went 1/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. His tip of the Melbourne Victory draw sees srini701 earn a first bonus point, leaving only N-Bomb, gtho4 and ElfTwinkle without one and some work to do.
  • This round ozzz2002 did not like LeoDaVinci jumping out ahead of him so he clawed his way back to be level again and these 2 open up a 2 point lead over paper_aero. The one to look out for is still N-Bomb, he has worked his way back up to 4th place in a quest for 4 titles in a row and is still 6 points from the lead. The only change at the bottom is that wwe84 has now opened up a 2 point buffer over Sypher.

  • We had a full house this week.
  • Western Sydney travelled to Brisbane and took a 2-0 lead into the break and by the 90th minute the scoreline remained the same but even the most die hard Roar supporter would not have predicted the end of the game. A penalty in the second minute if stoppage time handed Brisbane a lifeline and they took advantage with an equaliser 4 minutes later to stun the Wanderers. It was almost a game of two halves in Wellington as the Phoenix took an early lead against Melbourne City and then dominated the first half, this continued into the early stages of the second half and then it changed as City finally took charge, but for the heorics of the Phoenix goalkeeper would have taken something from the game. Melbourne Victory truimphed over Sydney in the Big Blue Derby for the third straight time though Sydney twice hit the woodwork in their attempts for an equaliser. It was another stoppage time goal that earned Adelaide a come-from-behind win over Central Coast. Perth found their goal-scoring touch again after consecutive goalless draws to put two past Newcastle and cement their lead at the top of the standings.
  • It was another good round as we went 34/55 for a 61.81% strike rate. There was another prefect game, this time being Perth's win at home over Newcastle. The trickiest game to tip was Wellington's win over Melbourne City which just wwe84, gtho4 and Howie73 foresaw.
  • We had another solo weekly winner this week as Howie72 went perfect with 5/5 and earned himself a bonus point. Four spoons were given away as wwe84, Sypher, George95 and ozzz2002 all went 2/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. N-Bomb, gtho4 and ElfTwinkle are still without one and have some work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci did not like sharing the top step of the podium so kicks ozzz2002 off and takes a 2 point lead again while paper_aero catches up with ozzz2002. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb has dropped back to 5th place and is now 7 points from the lead. There is no change at the bottom as both wwe84 and Sypher earned a wooden spoon.

  • ozzz2002 was running on default fuel this week.
  • Western Sydney went wandering at home to Newcastle and before they knew it, the Jets had bulged the old onion bag 5 times before they scored a consolation goal when Mitch Duke scored 19 seconds after being substituted on for his debut. Central Coast thought they were in for just their second win of the season when leading Melbourne Victory 2-0 at the break but the visitors had other ideas and capped off a remarkable come-from-behind win in the 88th minute. It was an even better comeback in Adelaide as the home team turned around a 3-0 deficit against Brisbane to score 4 goals, the last goal coming in the 7th minute of stoppage time. Wellington were missing their two most experienced defenders and it showed as Perth romped to an easy 3-0 win, setting a club record of 4 games in a row without conceding a goal. Melbourne City dominated possession away to Sydney but left with nothing to show for it, they had a great chance to draw level after being awarded a late penalty but it was saved and just minutes lated Sydney doubled their lead to make the result safe.
  • It was a very good round as we went 37/50 for a 74% strike rate. There were two perfect games as we all tipped Melbourne Victory and Sydney to win. The trickiest game to tip was Newcastle's win at Western Sydney which only N-Bomb picked to earn himself a bonus point.
  • We had another solo weekly winner this week as N-Bomb went perfect with 5/5 to earn himself a second bonus point for the round. There was also a solo spoon as wwe84 went 2/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. N-Bomb filled in his spot of the column in style with his 2 bonus points leaving only gtho4 and ElfTwinkle without a bouns point and some work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci maintains his 2 point lead but now it is over paper_aero only as ozzz2002 went default and is joined by N-Bomb in 3rd place. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb has moved up to a tie for third place and is only 4 points from top spot. The only change at the bottom is that Sypher halves the deficit to wwe84 to 1 point.

  • We had a full house this week though ozzz2002 missed the first game with late tips.
  • It finished all square between Newcastle and Wellington, a result that benefits the Phoenix more than the Jets. It could have gone either way as the Phoenix 'keeper made a few good saves while the Jets 'keeper saved a late penalty. Sydney travelled north and were in control against Brisbane, taking the lead early in the second half but the Roar hung on and their perseverance paid off as they equalised and grabbed the winner in the final minute of normal time. Western Sydney eased to a victory over Central Coast for their first win in over 2 months, the Mariners had their chances but could not take them. It was a game of two halves for Melbourne City at home to Adelaide, more attacking in the second half as they overturned a half-time deficit to take a share of the spoils. Perth went 7 points clear at the top of the standings after they overcame Melbourne Victory in Melbourne and are now firm favourites to win the Premiers Plate with 9 games to go.
  • It was a below par round as we went 16/54 for a 29.62% strike rate. There were no perfect games with the "closest" being the Melbourne City vs Adelaide draw which saw 6 of us get this correct. The trickiest game to tip was Newcastle's draw with Wellington, wwe84 and Sypher being the only successful tippers.
  • Once again we had a solo weekly winner this round as wwe84 went 3/5. srini701 usually checks the results expecting to get a 0 or 1 and this round he will be pleasantly surprised to know he is right as he takes home a spoon with 0/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have some work to do.
  • In a low scoring round LeoDaVinci still manages to increase his lead to 3 points over paper_aero while ozzz2002 and N-Bomb remain in 3rd place a further 2 points back. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb stays in tie for third place but drops back to 5 points from top spot. The only change at the bottom is that wwe84 increases his lead over Sypher back to 2 points.

  • LeoDaVinci was running on default fuel this week. ElfTwinkle missed the Wellington vs Melbourne Victory game which had been brought forward a day and the Newcastle vs Melbourne City game which she tipped about half way through the first half. These did not matter as she still got them wrong so no affect on her score for the round.
  • Newcastle made 7 changes ahead of their upcoming Asian Champions League qualifying match and they scored 2 goals in the final 15 minutes to overcome a very lacklustre Melbourne City, in doing so they keep their play-off dreams alive. Once again Wellington and Melbourne Victory could not be separated as they played out a third thrilling draw of the season, this time in front of a crowd of over 23000 in Auckland. There was another upset in Adelaide as Western Sydney accounted for Adelaide 3-1 despite only having 30% possession, their first win over the Reds in the last 8 attempts. Perth recodred their 14th win of the season which is a club record as they thrashed Brisbane 4-0, their biggest winning margin over the Roar and the first time they have beaten them in all 3 games of a season. Sydney piled on the pressure against Central Coast but it took a late penalty to salvage a draw after the Mariners had opened the scoring against the run of play, Sydney outshot their opponents by 22-5 but were very wasteful.
  • If it was not for Perth's win over Brisbane which we all tipped it would have been a record low round. In the end we did manage 12/48 for a 25% strike rate. The Perth win accounted for 10 of our 12 correct tips. No one managed to tip correctly the Newcastle win, Western Sydney win or the Sydney draw with Central Coast.
  • If you did not get a weekly win then you took home a spoon. The two weekly winners were gtho4 and paper_aero who went 2/5. The remaining 8 of us (LeoDaVinci went default) took away a spoon with 1/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have some work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci managed to pick the right round to go default but paper_aero still decreased his lead to 2 points while ozzz2002 and N-Bomb remain a further 2 points back in third place. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb stays in tie for third place and 5 points from top spot. There is no change at the bottom as Sypher trails wwe84 by 2 points.

  • We had a full house this week.
  • Brisbane increased their unbeaten streak against Cental Coast to 15 games after an entertaining 5-3 win and are now 8 points clear of the Mariners at the foot of the table. They lead 3-2 at the break after a couple of stunning strikes and the Mariners chances of a comeback disappeared with a red card just after the hour mark, compounded by a second sending-off right on full time. Wellington took their home match against Sydney to Sydney's back yard, a decision that could come back to haunt them if they fail to make the play-offs, and it did not pay-off as they went down to a second half penalty. The latest edition of the Melbourne derby finished all square though Victory did it tough by playing with 10 men after a sending-off midway through the first half. Newcastle let slip a chance to close in on the top 6 as they were held to a goalless draw at home to an Adelaide side that seemed content to play for a draw though the Reds did come closest to a winner when hitting the woodwork. The final game of the round also ended in a draw after Western Sydney stunned league leading Perth with a 95th minute equaliser.
  • We did only a tad better this round than last as we went 15/55 for a strike rate of 27.27%. Our best effort was 8 of us tipping Sydney to beat Wellington away at home. No one managed to tip correctly the Melbourne derby draw while ozzz2002 picks up a bonus point for being the only one to pick Western Sydney's draw with Perth.
  • There was a handful of weekly winners as wwe84, paper_aero, LeoDaVinci ozzz2002 and George95 all went 2/5. For the third time this season srini went 0/5 and earned himself a wooden spoon.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have some work to do.
  • The top 3 all picked up a weekly win with the only difference being the bonus point for ozzz2002. This all means that LeoDaVinci remains 2 points clear of paper_aero while ozzz2002 is a further 2 points back having shaken of N-Bomb. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb drops back to 4th place and is now 6 points from top spot. Sypher is now 3 points clear at the bottom while wwe84 draws level with ElfTwinkle.

  • We had a full house this week.
  • Sydney did what they had to at home to Adelaide to keep up the pressure on Perth at the top of the strandings by icing the 2-0 win in the 4th minute of stoppage time, Adelaide had only 2 shots on target now are winless in their last 4 games with their own pressure from Newcastle who are trying to get into the play-offs. Speaking of Newcastle, they took full advantage by upsetting Melbourne Victory in Geelong, it went from bad to worse for Victory as they had a player sent off just before full-time. The Jets temporarily pulled within 2 points of Wellington and are 5 points behind Adelaide. Perth had a small hiccup in Melbourne but it could have been worse as they came from 2 goals down to score two of their own after the 80 minute mark, the Glory are now unbeaten in their last 12 games and leaves them 6 points clear of Sydney. Brisbane scored first against Western Sydney but that seemed to spur the Wanderers on and they scored 3 times before the break to put the result beyond doubt. To say it was a crazy night in Gosford is an understatement, no one would have foreseen Wellington putting 8 past Central Coast in what proved to be the last game in charge for the Mariner's manager. A win by 2 goals would have lifted the Phoenix to 4th place and they were 2-0 up after just 12 minutes. It never got any better for Central Coast despite 2 consolation goals in the second half. The 6 goal winning margin is a record for Wellington while the 10 goals equalled the most in an A-League game and it could have been even worse for Central Coast.
  • We finally got back to about normal for the A-League as we went 24/55 for a strike rate of 43.63%. There were no perfect games with the closest being Sydney's win over Adelaide which had 9 correct tips. No one managed to predict Newcastle's upset of Melbourne Victory.
  • This week we had 4 weekly winners as wwe84, paper_aero (making it 3 in a row), N-Bomb and gtho4 all went 3/5. The wooden spoon goes to srini701 for the 4th week in a row (one more and he will earn a place in the record books) and he is joined by ElfTwinkle in going 1/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have some work to do.
  • It was a good round for paper_aero as he closes to within 1 point of LeoDaVinci and has a much better tie-breaker scenario. It is now 3 points back to ozzz2002 in third place. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb remains in 4th place but edges a point closer to top spot. At the bottom Sypher climbs to within 2 points of ElfTwinkle while wwe84 joins srini701 in a tie for 8th.

  • We had a full house this week.
  • Kosta Barbarouses scored twice in the first half and that proved enough for Melbourne Victory to beat Brisbane despite the Roar making it interesting early in the second half with a wonderful lobbed goal, Melbourne's win being their first since February 2nd. It was goalless at the break between Newcastle and Central Coast and no one had any idea how the second half would turn out, Central Coast jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the mid point of the second 45 minutes before the Jets came back into the game to make it 3-2 in the 81st minute. Then it got even crazier with Newcastle awarded a penalty in the 4th minute of stoppage time but it was saved only for the rebound to be buried in the back of the net and it looked like the Mariners let the game slip out of their grasp. However, the VAR intervened and the goal was disallowed as the scorer had encroached into the penalty area before the kick was taken so a retake was ordered. The same player took the second penalty and it was saved again, this time the ball was cleared and the Mariners held on for just their second win of the season. Sydney missed the chance to keep any pressure on Perth as they went down at home to Melbourne City. In-form Western Sydney were looking for a third consecutive away win when they travelled to Wellington but it was the Phoenix that dominated and secured all 3 points, the late goal they conceded was only a consolation for the Wanderers. Perth eased to a 2-0 win at Adelaide to earn themselves a club record 15th win in a season.
  • It was almost an identical round as last round when we went 23/55 (24/55 last round) for a strike rate of 41.81%. There were no perfect games with the closest being Melbourne Victory's win over Brisbane which only paper_aero missed. However we did have 2 games that were tipped correctly by no one being the Central Coast and Melbourne City wins.
  • This week we had 3 weekly winners as wwe84 (making it 3 in a row), Howie72 and N-Bomb all went 3/5. Two wooden spoons were handed out as both paper_aero and ElfTwinkle went 1/5, meaning srini701 missed out on his attempt for 5 spoons in a row.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have a lot of work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci increases his lead over paper_aero to 2 points again but paper_aero still holds the tie-breaker advantage despite his wooden spoon effort. The gap to 3rd place is narrowed to 2 points and N-Bomb joins ozzz2002 in this position. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb is now in a tie for 3rd place and only 4 points from top spot. At the bottom Sypher climbs to within 1 point of ElfTwinkle.

  • paper_aero was running on default fuel this week.
  • Sydney did what they needed to against Brisbane when 2 late goals earned them the win and kept their Premiers' Plate hopes alive, surprisingly it was just their 3rd win in the last 18 trips to Suncorp Stadium. Wellington struck after just 32 seconds against Newcastle and the rest of the first half was end-to-end action, the second 45 minutes was almost all Phoenix as they crushed the Jets to maintain hold of 4th place despite missing their leading goal scorer through suspension, Newcastle's play-off hopes are hanging by a thread as they finish the round 7 points behind 6th place with just 4 rounds to go. Western Sydney's play-off hopes are almost non-existent but they comprehensively overcame Melbourne City 3-0, one of the teams they are chasing but are still 10 points behind them. Melbourne Victory breathed some life back into the chase for the Premiers' Plate when they travelled to Perth and beat the league leaders with Ola Toivonen scoring the 5000th goal in Hyundai A-League history, Perth now are 6 points ahead of Sydney with Victory a further point behind. It was not their best performance but it was a crucial result for Adelaide as they eked out a 1-0 win away at Central Coast who did not help their cause when finishing with 10 players.
  • For the second round in a row we achieved 23 correct tips but this week it was out of 50 rather than 55 so a better strike rate of 46%. We had one perfect game as we all thought Sydney would go against recent history and actually win in Brisbane. On the other hand no one thought Melbourne Victory would win at Perth. Only wwe84 predicted that Western Sydney would beat Melbourne City and he takes home a bonus point as a result.
  • We had another 3 weekly winners as Sypher, ozzz2002 and Howie72 all went 3/5. The remaining 7 of us who tipped this week all took home a spoon after going 2/5.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have a lot of work to do.
  • LeoDaVinci's wooden spoon did not affect him too much as his closest challenger went default so he maintains a 2 point lead over paper_aero while ozzz2002 pulls away from N-Bomb in third and closes to within a point of paper_aero. In the quest for 4 titles in a row, N-Bomb drops back to 4th place but is still only 4 points from top spot. At the bottom Sypher draws level with ElfTwinkle and these 2 are 3 points behind srini701.
  • Two interesting stats at this stage of the season - (1) The top 5 in the standings all have 7 weekly wins and are joined by wwe84 in the fight for most weekly wins. (2) wwe84 has either earned a weekly win or a spoon in 19 of the 23 rounds.

Considering Tim Cahill is 39 years old you could say he is getting over the hill for professional football....

  • We had a full house this week.
  • Melbourne City saw their half-time lead evaporate early in the second half against Brisbane when conceding an own goal but they regrouped and struck another 3 times before the final whistle. It was topsy-turvy in Newcastle as the Jets fell behind to Western Sydney just before the break only to take the lead by the 70th minute, the Wanderers equalised shortly after and it was left to Angus Thurgate to score his first A-League goal and keep Newcastle's faint play-off hopes alive. Sydney scored a crucial winner against Melbourne Victory in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the game, crucial in that it takes the Sky Blues 4 points clear of Victory in the battle for second place and a first-up bye in the play-offs. Wellington's first half against Adelaide was the worst 45 minutes they had played all season and they were 3-0 down before a sending-off of Adelaide's scorer of 2 goals after a VAR intervention turned the very nasty challenge from a yellow card to a red card. After the break the Phoenix piled on the pressure but could only claw one goal back and the Reds are now unbeaten in the last 11 games against the visitors. Perth travelled to Central Coast and cruised to a comfortable win to move a step closer to the Premiers' Plate.
  • It was a much better round for most of us this week as we went 38/55 for a strike rate of 69.09%. We had one perfect game as we all thought Perth would emerge triumphant against Central Coast. The trickiest games to tip were the Newcastle and Adelaide wins though each game still had 5 of us tipping correctly.
  • We had 2 winners this week as paper_aero and N-Bomb both went perfect with 5/5 and earned themselves a crucial bonus point.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have a lot of work to do with just 3 rounds left.
  • With his bonus point, paper_aero draws level at the top with LeoDaVinci and has by far the better tie-breaker. N-Bomb overtakes ozzz2002 for 3rd place and is just 2 points behind but has the worst tie-break of the top 4. These 4 will fill the podium as 5th is another 4 points further back. At the bottom Sypher jumps ahead of ElfTwinkle.
  • With his spoon, wwe84 now has either a weekly win or a wooden spoon in 20 of the 24 rounds so far.

  • We had a full house this week.
  • For the second week in a row a terrible first half cost Wellington as Brisbane scored 2 late goals to put themselves 2-0 up at the break, the Phoenix could only pull 1 goal back in the second half to put their hopes of a home play-off match in serious doubt. Superb displays by both goalkeepers saw Melbourne City, despite a second half siege on the Adelaide goal, held to a stalemate by Adelaide, the draw was enough to take the Reds into 4th place and the home play-off spot. The stats suggested it was a close game in the 21st Sydney derby and the result, for once, backed the stats up as a Western Sydney second half goal cancelled out an early Sydney strike. Melbourne Victory took advantage of Sydney's draw by beating Central Coast and closing the gap to Sydney to 2 points in the fight for second place and a bye in the first play-off round, the Mariners are now confirmed to win the wooden spoon this season. Perth also took advantage of Sydney's slip up by doing what they had to against Newcastle, the 1-0 win is enough for the Glory to be crowned Premiers while Newcastle's play-off hopes are extinguished.
  • We did not enjoy the success of last week as we went 29/55 for a strike rate of 52.72%. We had one perfect game as we all thought Melbourne Victory would beat Central Coast. However, no one thought Brisbane would claim the win over Wellington.
  • ElfTwinkle takes the solo weekly win with 4/5 while srini701, Sypher, ozzz2002, N-Bomb and George95 all took home a spoon. This is a milestone wooden spoon for srini701 and Sypher as they now join wwe84 and ElfTwinkle with double digit wooden spoons. The good news is they can hold large soup parties.
  • Now that everyone has a weekly win and a wooden spoon it leaves the bonus point column still to be filled. We are down to the last two without a bonus point so gtho4 and ElfTwinkle still have a lot of work to do with just 2 rounds left.
  • No change at the top with LeoDaVinci and paper_aero cancelling each other out with identical picks, leaving paper_aero in the box seat with his vastly better tie-breaker. N-Bomb remains in 3rd place but drops to 3 points behind, he still has a 1 point buffer over ozzz2002 but a slightly worse tie-breaker. These 4 will fill the podium as 5th is another 3 points further back. At the bottom elfTwinkle leaps back over Sypher in style with her weekly win.
  • No weekly win or spoon for wwe84 so he now has either a weekly win or a wooden spoon in 20 of the 25 rounds so far.
