. We had just the one winner .. srini701 scored his first for the season in the last round, and now scores his second to fly up the table from 12th to 7th, a mere 2 pts off the podium. He was 7 points in arrears three weeks ago .. wwe84 is still the only player looking for his first win.
wwe84 collected his 5th wooden spoon for the season (it's his fourth in six weeks).
N-Bomb, the only spoon-less player, is now 2 points ahead the peloton (it was 3 points last week). The next 6 pts (it was five last week) cover the rest of the field of 12 players, apart from the two tail-enders, wwe84 and ozzz2002.
There were four bonus pts .. srini701 collected his first, leaving one blank in that column: paper_aero.

The draw for KO Round will take place on Monday in Zurich. The eight group winners avoid each other as they are in one pot (the eight runners-up are in the other pot), no teams from the same group can be drawn against each other and no teams from the same country can be drawn against each other.
Each team can be drawn against any seven of the eight teams in the other pot, but Manchester City can only be drawn against four (the avoid Olympique Lyon, runner-up in Group F, and the three English teams who finished runners-up in their groups.

It's possible but unlikely, as the finish post is too close. . Everyone was at the starting gates for the 2nd leg except for last week's winner, dg_dave. This week's winners were N-Bomb and paper_aero; and they both scored a bonus point for picking the HT result in Turin .. the bonus point by paper_aero filled the last blank in that column. He moves up into 2nd place.
It looks like the fat lady has started singing, N-Bomb, who's still the only spoon-less player, is now a humungous 8 pts ahead, with just three rounds or 24 points remaining. The next five, separated by a mere 2 pts, will battle it out for silver and bronze .. btw N-Bomb has never won this!
Although they won the second leg, Manchester City were knocked out by Spurs on the away goals rule .. a result which ended their dream of an unprecedented quadruple: FAPL, FA Cup, League Cup and ECL. The score in that game after 21 minutes was 3-2, which is the shortest amount of time in which 5 goals have been scored in a Champions League match.
The only team which has achieved the quadruple is Celtic, in 1967: Scottish League, SFA Cup, League Cup and European Cup. Their squad was all-Scottish (unique achievement, no foreign players) .. and all were born within 30 miles of Parkhead! On the other hand, on 13th September 2006 in Hamburg, Arsenal fielded a team with 11 different nationalities in their ECL match vs. Hamburg SV (from the 28th minute onwards, after as substitution).
The last time Spurs were in the semi-finals was in 1962 when the ECL was known as the European Cup (they were the champions of England in 1961). Non-champions first appeared in the ECL in 1997.
Ten different English clubs have played in the EC/ECL semi-finals (the most by any country in Europe). The other members of the elite club are: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Derby County, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester Utd & Nottingham Forest. While we're at it, some more records held by England: Most winning clubs (5): Liverpool, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Chelsea. Most finalists (7): those five winners, plus Leeds and Arsenal.
If Spurs go all the way, they will add to those last two records.

. toocool4u wins the round solo with 5/8 of which two were solo picks. He climbs up into 6th place a mere 3 pts off the podium.
There were four wooden spoon awards. N-Bomb collected his first, which filled the last blank in that column, but retains 1st place by a margin of 7 pts. With just two rounds and 16 pts left until we reach the finish post, the bookies have him odds-on favourite to win his first-ever ECL title.
The next six are separated by a mere 3 pts. Two of those six will fill the minor placings with silver and bronze.
Spurs lost at home and now have a mountain to climb in the return leg in Amsterdam .. they'll be in with a show if they can score first. Liverpool lost 3-0 in Camp Nou and will need a minor miracle next week at at Anfield to progress to the final. If Barca score just one goal, Liverpool will need to win the return leg by a score of 6-1.

. The unbelievable has happened; two nights in a row. On Tuesday night Liverpool faced Barcelona and elimination, having lost 3-0 away. They won 4-0 and knocked out the favourites. Barcelona couldn't even score one away goal; not one. If they did, Liverpool would've needed to win 6-1. Anfield will remember this game for years to come.
On Wednesday night, Spurs faced a bigger mountain. They faced Ajax & elimination, having lost at home 0-1. They needed to score first, but didn't. Ajax did & went in at half time leading 2-0 (3-0 on aggregate). Lucas Moura score a hat-trick in the second half to tie the semi at 3-3. His 3rd came at the death, in the 6th minute of stoppage time! Spurs went through to their first-ever UCL Final on the away goals rule.
Those upsets, and our pathetic advance picks, saw an average strike rate of 20.8% correct picks between us. This equals the 3rd-lowest in any UCL comp since the first 16 years ago, way back in 2003 .. 12 of us were at the starter's gate to lodge picks and six of us scored either 0/8 or 1/8.
wwe84 was the round's winner with 5/8 .. and two of those were solo picks! It was his first win of the season, filled in the last blank in that column, and saw him finally climb off the last rung of the ladder (he's been stuck there since Round 11). The four who scored 0/8 collected a wooden spoon each.
N-Bomb was one of three who didn't make it to the starter's gate, but it didn't have much of an impact out front when the average strike rate was a paltry 20.8% .. and the round's winner was way back at the rear of the field. He retains the lead with a margin of 5 points, which should be enough for him to win his first-ever CL gold medal, as no-one has a live pick for the winner (worth 5 pts in the final round).
The next seven are separated by 4 pts (that's almost half the field of 15 runners). With just one round left, no-one else can finish on the podium for silver or bronze.

Spurs are the 8th team from England to play in a CL Final, the most by any country, being the five who've won this: Liverpool, Manchester Utd, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Chelsea, plus Leeds United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Forest hold this unique record: they're the only team to have won more CL titles than domestic league titles (European Champions Cup 1979 and 1980, champions of England in 1978). Bayer Leverkusen almost emulated this feat in 2002 (lost UCL Final and have never won their home league).
Liverpool are playing in back-to-back finals. They were beaten 3-1 last year by Real Madrid. Rumour has it that Sypher has already booked his tickets.

. The final round saw three winners with 5/8 and two wooden spoons with 0/8.
N-Bomb retained his spot at the top of the pile for the 15th consecutive week to win his first-ever gold medal in the ECL tipping comp! He was leader in all 19 rounds except two .. and was 1st or 2nd for the entire season.
For the second year running, Howie72 has finished in a dead-heat for second place. Last year he won silver on a countback, this year he lost out to Dizart.
paper_aero finished 4th, a point off the podium. He had the most weekly wins with six .. ahead of N-Bomb, the gold medallist, who scored five .. wwe84 collected more spoons than anyone with seven, which is exactly what he achieved last year (most spoons with seven).
All of us scored a win, collected a spoon and scored a bonus point. There were no blanks in those three columns.

New lows : gtho4
No-one reached double digits for bonus points, unlike last year, when three finished with 10 bonus points each: wwe84, ozzz2002 and Sypher. The best countback figures were +4 by paper_aero (6-2) followed by N-Bomb at +4 (5-1). At the other end, wwe84 had the biggest negative differential at -6.
This was Liverpool's 6th win. They're
now 3rd on the all-time list behind
Real Madrid (13) and AC Milan (7).
This year's ECL was the 64th edition;
and 36 of them 've been won by five
teams: R Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool,
Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

This year's comp was the 16th edition of the ECL comp. No-one has retained their title, and two players have won this on three occasions: doomed (2004, 2006 and 2008) and Dizart (2012, 2014 and 2018).
