My thoughts are with the people of the Philippines and in the South China Sea.

The most powerful typhoon of the season is closing in on the northern Philippines, where officials ordered precautionary evacuations and closures of schools and offices and urged farmers to quickly harvest their crops to reduce damage.

After leaving the Philippines, the fast-moving Typhoon Mangkhut is expected to blow toward Hong Kong and southern China on Sunday if it maintains its course, forecasters said.

Mangkhut, which could hit northern Cagayan province on Saturday, was located about 800 kilometres away in the Pacific with sustained winds of 265km per hour and gusts of up to 325 kilometres per hour.

It could maintain the strength of a super typhoon when it hits land in the northeastern corner of Luzon Island.

Of course as usual the poorer areas will be worse off. Hope the damage is not so bad this time .

I am sure Sara can tell us more when she gets online but she certainly was/is in the thick of it with it being impossible to exit (or for people to enter) the building in which she lives and the roof has blown off the temple next door.

I've seen coverage on T.V., both from Hong Kong and the Philippines. It looks devastating.

Hi all! It was pretty scary , but everyone here is safe
My only problem when we couldn.t open the front gate was that the firemen were too busy to come. I was hoping for a few cute ones to arrive. Never mind. Its all cleared away in true Hong Kong quick off the mark fashion. Electricity back on, water, tv , all fine

Thanks for your concerns

Aha Compensation today! There are lots of half nude workmen on the Temple roof. I am duty bound to make sure they are working satisfactorily....
