You may know that I now live in an elderly care home. This has its moments of entertainment to say the least.
This week the Manager had to go out to a meeting, so she left the choice of Film to George, a most responsible gent , an ex copper. He asked around as to preferences, thinking in terms of a nice gentle film suitable for elderly ladies, (Sound of Music, Ladies in Lavender etc). Eventually he put up a list for people to tick their choice. Most ticked movie???

Die Hard... Bruce Willis!!!
I looked in to the lounge/tv room and they were all spellbound!

An excellent choice, anyway. But if George is an ex-cop and they wanted to see Die Hard featuring a cop in the starring role, does that mean all the elderly ladies are having naughty thoughts about George?

Norty thoughts?? They wouldnt dare.
I actually got a shock last night as the weekly scrabble game took a downward turn
Cecilia, a very upright 91 year old Catholic lady made a rude word .(BUM!!!) I threatened to ban her which caused great hilarity.

Just be grateful you didn't have Albert Steptoe playing Scrabble at your home.

(Referring to a well-known episode of "Steptoe and Son" ("Men of Letters") where the old man beat Harold at Scrabble with a board full of rude words, and then used them as the basis for a crossword which he submits to the church's parish magazine)

------------------------------------------------

Ooh - just found this quote on IMDB:

Albert Steptoe: [Albert has placed 'bum' on the Scrabble board] My "bum" is the American word for 'tramp'.

Harold Steptoe: Well, that is where I've got you because you can't use any slang or colloquialisms!

Albert Steptoe: Right then, I'll stick to me English "bum". And that's the part of your anatomy that swells out of the back of your trousers.

I'm normally a social girl I love to meet my mates

But lately with the virus here We can't go out the gates.

You see, we are the 'oldies' now We need to stay inside

If they haven't seen us for a while They'll think we've upped and died.

They'll never know the things we did Before we got this old

There wasn't any Facebook So not everything was told.

We may seem sweet old ladies Who would never be uncouth

But we grew up in the 60s - If you only knew the truth!

There was sex and drugs and rock 'n roll The pill and miniskirts We smoked, we drank, we partied And were quite outrageous flirts.

Then we settled down, got married And turned into someone's mum,

Somebody's wife, then nana, Who on earth did we become?

We didn't mind the change of pace Because our lives were full
But to bury us before we're dead
Is like red rag to a bull!

So here you find me stuck inside For 4 weeks, maybe more

I finally found myself again Then I had to close the door!

It didnt really bother me I'd while away the hour

I'd bake for all the family But I've got no bloody flour!

Now Netflix is just wonderful I like a gutsy thriller

I'm swooning over Idris Or some random sexy killer.

At least I've got a stash of booze For when I'm being idle There's wine and whiskey, even gin If I'm feeling suicidal!

So let's all drink to lockdown To recovery and health

And hope this bloody virus Doesn't decimate our wealth.

We'll all get through the crisis And be back to join our mates

Just hoping I'm not far too wide to get through the gates

Paraphrasing something I saw on Facebook earlier today ...

I guess we're finally being grounded for the things we never got caught for in our teens.
