I was trying to make my post fairly obscure with no details that would allow anyone to attempt this without doing more legwork. If you think my comments are spoilers, I can delete my post.

Difficult to 'kill' those who are already dead, but I managed to do in my share. Good luck to everyone who is still figuring out how to make the undead die.

Thanks to Wesley for trusting us to immobilize the Evil Twin for another year. smile

Hey, where's my photo gone? Now I'm going to go check to see if it's because I've changed it back on my normal profile. If that's the problem, I'd like to delete this post smile

Click “Edit” at the bottom of your post, and then in the edit window click “Delete post”. It works in forums private messages as well.

Yup, that was the problem smile

Because I link the photo in there to the profile in here, the one in here disappears if I don't put the new link in.

But dagnab it, I can't try deleting the previous post smilee

Thanks, KG smile

I didn't want to actually delete it, but to know how. Problem solved though.

Finding out how to do things on FT is a bit like following your instincts at time. Translation: Using one's common sense crazy

Just added this to the challenge text:

Quote:
Only two of the six items have a "must do" order in that completing one will inevitably reset the other. However some of them are rather fickle, so you don't want them too early.

One item could be interpreted in two ways. Both do work.

Now that we have repelled the invasion, here's what needed to be done:

The first clue was the "A Sporting Chance" which was a link to the level perks. One of those perks is the Crossword of the Week, which, conveniently, happened to be titled "A Sporting Chance" as well.

Then there were those six codes. Those were not (like some suspected) hexadecimal numbers but rather encoded A=across and D=down, from the crossword.

This way, each clue resulted in six words - nastily not in the correct order but rather sorted alphabetically. Additionally, singular and plural in the crossword didn't always exactly match the clue.

14D 50D 40D 12A 51D 09D = BALL CRYSTAL GUESS LEFT MINUTE THIRTEEN
Make a Crystal Ball guess with exactly 13 minutes left on the timer. It didn't matter whether it was a correct guess, just that you entered one. As a reward, you got to smash some zombies with tennis balls.

10A 38D 64D 18D 47D 54A = DUEL ELEVEN OR SEVEN THREE WIN
You needed to have exactly 3, 7 or 11 won duels for the bowling zombies to be a strike. Any other number and they would reset for the next frame.

01A 32D 45A 63D 66A 26D = HUNDRED POINT QUIZ SIX SIXTYSIX SPORT
This task allowed two interpretations and both were valid: Either, score at least 666 FunTrivia points in Sports quizzes or score exactly 666 in a timed-game mode Sports quiz. This one did not reset and it let you cut a row of zobies in half with a well-aimed skateboard.

67D 51A 36A 46A 45A 34D = IN MONSTER ONE PERFECT QUIZ SCORE
Archery is a sport of perfection, thus to shoot down the paratrooper zombie, you needed one perfect Monster quiz across the course of the week.

62A 28D 01D 67D 36A 43D = BOTH GAME HOUR IN ONE TEAM
The lead zombie crawling towards wore her head on a convenient tee for a good golf shot - all you needed to do to get a hole in one was to play both of the team games (TvT and Heroes) within one hour of each other; either order worked.

40A 67D 60D 04A 45A 59A = GHOST IN LAST PLAY QUIZ TITLES
The last area had the most relentless horde - you could only keep them flattened by running them over in your race car if the LAST quiz you played had "ghost" in its title. This was the one task that would automatically reset if you completed another - there is no Sports quiz with "ghost" in its title, so completing the skateboard via either path just had to reset this one.

And that was it - the evil twin has been held back for another year!

Thanks for the explanation. What a great exercise. I do realize that the amount of work in preparing these is so much greater than the time spent enjoying it, but I did sooooooooo enjoy it!!

I enjoyed it enormously and am already looking forward to next year's! It was a brilliant crossword to start with, and also nice to see them being featured more now. A big thank you to Wesley and all involved in making this challenge smile
