Some pictures of sandy beaches might be nice - the temperature here took a nosedive today and I'm feeling in need of some sun!

Another old direction sign (two sided here) just turned up in the fringes of London, it was off the main road so rarely seen till now.

Or perhaps a cruise around Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts?

Ooooh... I've never been to either of those places. Greece is strangely missing from the list of European countries I've been to and while I've been to Massachusetts so many times I can spell it without a second thought I've never been to Martha's Vineyard either. I'll take both! Although, given my luck, I'm more likely to end up down the Rec. grin

One more nice sunny cove to visit. This one's in Bristol, Maine. Rachel Carson studied this salt pond, which has been purchased and turned into a preserve by the Nature Conservancy.

I should have known that all those sunny pictures would bring a backlash...

I guess it's fair - it is December, after all.

I haven't come across a new path for a while, this runs along the railway line in Chessington, about 10 miles south of London.

The weather here was pretty good early this morning so I decided to recce a spot on Dartmoor that I've been meaning to visit for a while now. This is Foggintor Quarry, about 3 miles from the little town of Princetown (site of the famous HM Prison Dartmoor).

Foggintor is a popular location with the Royal Marines who frequently practice abseiling here down the sheer cliffs... Sadly, and by design, the training staff often ensure that their recruits take a refreshing dip in the cold waters at the end of their abseil!

A view across Hampstead Garden Suburb, a planned community, which explains its name. I lived there from 1965-93
