If we wanted to be completely fair, we would have to set the game to a fixed duration - and that duration would be, based on the actual results of the last 24 rounds, be 1500 question sets or 125 days (because that's the average). Which is, coincidentally, exactly the number GC 33 will wind up with if it ends today, as scheduled.
If we were to keep going for 30 new Immortals this game, we'd (from a quick look at the numbers) wind up somewhere around 1590 sets, which would be the longest (and thus easiest to complete) GC since the move to twice-daily rounds.
The reason for the low number of new immortals is not so much that existing players have extra motivation to try, but mostly that we in general have a declining ratio of players who have not yet made Immortal as opposed to those who made it - there are just fewer new joins than there have been in past years while older players tend to stay and keep playing. If we kept up a strict "30 new immortals" rule, we'd probably approach game lengths of 180 days or more in just a few more years.
Your score for this round, by the way, would require approximately 6 extra days for Immortal. That's about 5% of the total or, over a typical 12-hour set, three extra correct answers or an additional ** category played instead of a basic (non-asterisked) one. Maybe that data can help you adjust your strategy so that you can shave that time off your performance for the next round - it's certainly within the realm of the possible to improve by this amount (or more) in one go!
