But I want to point out, that if you would have cut of the game at the average number of rounds and would keep doing that, eventually you would make the game a bit harder on the average, as there wouldn't be any chance to play in a game which runs a bit longer. For some of the players who got their Immortal badge in an earlier game, it would have been easier than for any of the still wannabe Immortals. Just my two cents.

How is it getting harder if the game is cut off at 1500 games? That means each GC, you have 1500 games to attempt to win the Immortal badge. If you don’t make it this go around, you have 1500 games to make it next time. It doesn’t become harder.

That would be only true if you would have made the initial condition that all games are to be cut off at 1500. But now there have been games that lastest longer than 1500 rounds (otherwise 1500 couldn't be the average), so of course some of the winners of those games were slower than some players in the later games, who didn't win.

Malama, yes, it would be harder for a player who plays every round with a constant performance (although those players are rare - most players who keep trying will significantly improve over time due to memorization and/or better strategy). However that was not the issue being discussed - blaster asked about fairness. If we wanted to be 100% fair and equitable, we'd have to run the game with a constant length and the fair cutoff number would be the average of past durations.

I'm not advocating that change by the way. The game works well and I see no reason to change from the current model as long as the game lengths stay between 1440 and 1560 - a range we only left once in the last 11 years (the 1584 record longest round). I was just mentioning what would be the fairest model.

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but it shows that I played 1500 games in the global challenge if I had played that many I might had made to level 10 and wouldn't be writing about anything about how the game was set up I would be Immortal and not worrying about it so enough said."I'll get there sooner or later.

What I'm saying is I'm was done posting how I was I didn't think it seemed right to cut the game off when 100 winners who have already won compared to 30 who have not then I saw where it's posted that I played 1500 games not sure how many games I played but don't believe it was that many finishing at 88.6 playing 1500 games I believed I would have made Immortal does this make my last post more clearer.

Nothing changed this time around. Our finishing condition has been the same for some time now.

Very minor issue but I'm reporting it for completeness (and because my wife says I'm not very observant). If you go to the Global Challenge page it says that Global Challenge 32 has ended. While that is technically true, it's not as relevant as the fact that Global challenge 33 has ended.

Hope players remember that time change in some places means FT time start around 12:00 will be 1:00 in other time zones like mine if we could get the person with the key to turn it on at the posted day and time would be nice.Have a nice day.

Yes, in the USA, 12 a.m. FTT now strikes at
  • 2 a.m. EDT
  • 1 a.m. CDT
  • 12 midnight MDT
  • 11 p.m. PDT
  • 10 p.m. AKDT
  • 8 p.m. HST

The time on the continental USA may vary if you live in a state that does not do Daylight Saving Time.

You have not read the announcement correctly. Please go back and read it again. It does not say 12 am FT time. It clearly says 12 *noon* FT time. That is 1 pm CDT, not 1 am CDT. Global Challenges have traditionally started with afternoon sets, not morning sets.

In any event, the new Global Challenge run has started today with the afternoon set as advertized. Given that this run is Global Challenge #34, we probably need someone to start a new thread for it as GC #33 has been history for some time now.

I read the respondent's post, which is what I was responding to, just fine, and I only meant to point out the time differences, sort of pivoting on the subject, and trying to do something nice and helpful.

If you read the note, you should have read the actual announcement. The issue was the start time of the GC. Given that it was impending, as you should have known, your comments were not helpful. They were misleading.
