When I try to play the game I get

"This game is undergoing some upgrades. Please try back a little later."

Have tried repeatedly with the same result.

I get the same thing. It's going on its second hour now.

Looks like Terry is converting it to the new division system from 50/50.

It's back up now and yes it now has the new division system.

The Easy Hourly Game has been updated to use the new "dynamic division" system first introduced in Fifty-Fifty. Over time the divisions will settle and you will be matched against similar skilled opponents.

We have also added TIERS to the "Speed Demon" badge, based on win points. Win a Division 1 hour and you earn 1 win point. Win a Division 4 hour and you earn 4 win points.

All existing owners of the SPEED DEMON badges have been grandfathered in and have been given 5 win points and the first tier for the badge.

Note that the concept of "Champion Division" and the ELO stuff has been removed for this game. We'll likely keep it in for Expert.

ELO was just a "something to do now that you've won all the badges" thing. With the expansion of tiers you'll now have something to aim for without needless complicated concepts like the ELO system.

( Also I'd be up for adding another tiered badge for the easy game if anyone has any clever ideas on what we could award that hasn't already been done... )

Pretty difficult for the average person to finish first at all in a day :P

How about scoring some minimum score consecutively X times in a row....

Or, playing off sort of the same idea, a bit higher minimum score X time in a day.

Some of us are ALWAYS up for a challenge. And why not?

There is a bug that is appearing with the new version of Piece of Cake. In the screen that appears when clicking on "My Results" from the Piece of Cake, the "topic" of the game is now blank when it used to have the category like World or Animals.

With the time penalty going from -1 per second to -2 per second sure makes those upgrades super challenging now! Took me a couple games after which I was wondering why my score was so much lower all of a sudden when finally the light bulb went off! lol

Another bug with the transition from 5 divisions to 3. I was in Div 5 before the transition and afterwards my score doesn't appear in any division (probably because I'm still in 5 with only 3 available).

Thanks should be fixed going forward.

I think I just fixed that too. It wasn't taking into account this game resets at :30

I scored 981.03 on Piece of Cake.
Does that mean you will be using fractions of a second to separate scores, or is it a display issue?

Piece of Cake previously showed the time to two decimal points so no change there.
Edit to say - oops, never mind, just realized you were referred to the score and I was thinking of the time.

I would prefer the number of high scores per day (similar to Expert Symposium) over consecutive high scores. After all, trying for consecutive high scores may be hampered by odd category choices.

My first idea for another PoC badge would be one that looks at your lowest category score and builds tiers based on that - basically the same values as on Speed Demon, but you must get the respective score in all categories.

Also, it would more consistent to move the Achievement: Fifty-Fifty and the Speed Demon badges to the first group of upgradeable badges, as those are all game related. And to update the Game Achievements page (http://www.funtrivia.com/achieve.cfm) with those two badges as well.

Even though I had the fastest time by half a second, jon541's score was deemed higher on tiebreak because it came in earlier. I believe it should adjudicate ties by time instead of score if you're going to the trouble of tracking times down to the hundredths place.

Terry, PoC has just dropped from 5 divisions to 3. According to the game page, I'm in div 3 but, after playing, didn't show up on the list. I am, however, on the "All" list. I'm honestly mystified as to the reason for reducing the number of divisions in off-peak hours. If it's solely due to the reduced number of players, why does that actually matter? Can't we just leave it at 5 throughout the day? Thanks.
