From the 4PM Piece of Cake game on Geography:
Level Team Correct Time Score
1. jon541 196 LIGHTHEARTED RETURN 10 19.35 981
2. eyhung 207 Olympians 10 18.81 981
3. zorba_scank 220 The Joli Llamas 10 19.87 980
Even though I had the fastest time by half a second, jon541's score was deemed higher on tiebreak because it came in earlier. I believe it should adjudicate ties by time instead of score if you're going to the trouble of tracking times down to the hundredths place. Looking at those times, when I am thrilled to manage to get under 30 seconds in an especially fast game, makes me wonder how the algorithm has me in Division 5. I had hoped the new system might place me in a division where I could be more competitive. But I am used to knowing that this game is simply not one where I can expect much, so I am no worse off than before.

Ok first problem: day/night not synching properly. I've changed it to day (5 divisions) 24 hours a day until I have time to work through what's wrong with the changeover. Second problem: Can you explain what you mean by winning and not getting credit? The players listed here are credited with the wins. Are you saying there was an hour where YOU beat the player listed here? If so, what hour? http://www.funtrivia.com/hourly2/winnerstoday.cfm

How strange is this! This hour I'm Diivision 5 and can't see me at all and I've just played! Ahhh... that's because I just changed night to day. You are div 3 at night, div 5 at day. So you played at night and now it's day For this hour you are in Div 3. It will be consistent starting next hour.

How strange is this! This hour I'm Diivision 5 and can't see me at all and I've just played! Demurechicky, I am seeing that as well, but then clicking on Division 3 shows the scores. I think this is a result of Terry manually changing all the late night games from 3 divisions to 5 just now, and it may not be a problem going forward. Let's try to see if there are problems in the hour after this one. Thanks Terry, I appreciate it.

But I am used to knowing that this game is simply not one where I can expect much, so I am no worse off than before. You placed 5 of 58 players in your very first game under the new system. The system correctly placed you in division 5. You simply need more plays for the system to get a better of idea what your average performance is like. Your division changes based on your real performance.

The system is working! I am now down in Level 4, and seeing times that make me feel as if I can actually be competitive with a good set. At least not discouragingly totally out of shot.

What was the Speed Demon badge given for before the switchover?

After playing POC I was told
"Total score: 852.52 You have been awarded 85 points for your score."
Indeed I did have 85 points added to score, but the leaderboard gives me "+71", which should be +85 ?

I think we should revisit the requirements for Level 1 of the Speed Demon badge, especially since it is listed in the 1. Amethyst Dojo section which are supposed to be among the easiest to get. In the past, all that was needed was to win your division one time. Regardless of your level, that division did not include anyone in Champions Division. Now, unless you are level 5 and competing mostly against people who would have been Champions Division in the past, you need to win multiple times. And most likely, those wins would push you into stronger divisions which are progressively harder to win.
From Jan 7 - Jan 17 when the changes went live, there were 17 winners of the badge. From Jan 17 after the changes went live through Jan 28, there were 0 winners.
I recommend that the requirement be dropped from 5 winners points to 1 winners point. That way anyone who wins their division earns the badge. Wes and I agreed with this. Tier 1 has been dropped to 1 point, and the next few tiers have been scaled down a bit, but the later tiers remain the same.

How is transition between divisions measured/triggered?
For various reasons, I haven't played the POC game since divisions were introduced, so I've been listed as being in Division 1 all that time. But I played it today, and won. And suddenly I'm catapulted past Divisions 2, 3 and 4, straight into 5!
Is winning Division 1 always enough to get you straight into Division 5? Or is time a factor too?

It's based on your relative finishing position to everyone else. There's simply no data to work with at 1 play so it guesses and figures you scored well against everyone in ALL divisions and throws you into division 5. As you play more it recalculates and re-guesses.
